This is so telling, Che's persona throughout this interview: you can see the sheer exhaustion at having to constantly talk about this subject, and make the same points over and over again, without it ever seeming to sink in, without anything ever changing. The long pauses, where he's trying to force out a thought but is just tired of it all. The melancholy when he talks about the pushback against the phrase 'black lives matter', as though those three simple words are a step too far... Christ almighty America, you're in a bad, bad way.
I've seen that combination of exhaustion and righteous fury before. It was a speech by Jesse Jackson during his 1988 presidential campaign. I was 6 years old at the time, and didn't know that this was a guy who had watched his best friend get murdered, but could tell that he had experienced injustice after injustice for being black. And also that the nice church elders who were there had experienced it. And that the kids I had been playing with an hour beforehand would also experience it. I'm white, but that's when I began to understand what being black meant.
The saddest part of this interview is that at 7:40 Che says " I hope something good comes of it." The way he said this was with such melancholy it should break your heart.
Actually you can see Che doesn't really want to talk about this sensitive political issue. He is just trying to be a comedian on a talk show and be all celebrity like and talk about funny things. But the host keep trying to push the topic into politics. I mean when he said "his mom isn't raising rocket scientist, we are cops, comedian and barbers." it kind of show that he really doesn't want talking about this. And he was waving his hand no, when the host talk about he got two brothers that are cops.
He's a true American. Nothing says USA like refusing to learn anything about a foreign country you are about to visit. Even if your life could depend on it.
@Bob Smith And police brutality is? "Rioting is the voice of the unheard" - MLK. Would you like them to ask nicely? Like they've been doing for decades?
I'm from Egypt. This is extremely eerie because we are likening the situation to our 2011 revolution, but it's never happened in a "democracy" before. We failed and got back to an autocratic regime, which was our worst fear...but we sure as hell don't want the same for the U.S. Be well.
@Charles Charlemagne you know we do hqve phones man....there is at least one innocent black person murdered a week over there caught on video...that is a bit much when all is ok
I remember the protests in 92 after Rodney King was brutally beaten by police. My biggest point of optimism is how many faces of all colors I see participating in today’s protests compared to back then. We’re all fed up. So many of us believe that “justice for all” means for ALL. Things have changed so much since 92, but they’ve not changed nearly enough. It’s so sad to see that we’ve only come this far in nearly 30 years. We can do so much better.
Society has taken a forward, but in 1989s Do the Right Thing one of the cops tells the cop choking Radio Raheem that he's had enough. Now: 3 cops standing right there start silent for the entire event. The cop culture of silence needs to stop.
Angry Santa ...Radio Raheem died. I don’t see how a cop saying he’s had enough after the dude is dead is any better than cops standing there and watching someone die
After the Rodney King video, I used to get ketchup bottles thrown at me when I worked in black neighborhoods. It really is a clever tactic; Reagan called it a vegetable, and you can't see your blood from the ketchup.
@@virginiaoflaherty2983 I disagree. I don't think immigrants or certainly white women are afraid to call the police. Immigrants and especially white women weaponize the police against black ppl all the time. The internet is full of Karens showing their behinds and using their white womanhood against black ppl, calling the police, completely not at all in fear of the police but instead using them as their personal service to rid them of whatever bothers them. Stop making this system that disproportionately oppresses black ppl about everybody, gay ppl, women, immigrants. Where are immigrants during all of this? Women's rights groups? The LGBT groups? Silent. Nowhere. Because this is, and has always been about black ppl and all those other groups just ride the coattails, making grabs at whatever advances are made off of our backs and blood. So stop. Please.
@@Doc_McStuffins I am a white woman and I am always terrified to be anywhrere near cops. It is impossible to tell who has good motives, so you can never be sure what they'll do. Far too many of them seem to be actively looking for reasons to fine people or insight violence, rather than actually protecting citizens.
Heartbreaking or very stupid and it might be the whole problem. Do u have any id how hard it is to be a cop in america? Ive seen a nornal car stop turned into a gun fight in 2 sec and the cop did nothing and got shot 3 times because his light didnt work. And if people just lissen to the police commands they will never get hurt. A cop is not walking around looking for people to kill.
Roddy MacChlerich ya but Che does look like he needs a hug, along with a lot of people in the world rn. Just because support is given to one does not mean it’s being taken from the rest. There’s is plenty of love and support for everyone who’s trying to prop up the cause.
hey, you do the same for the people in your country and the message you send speaks volumes. we definitely need more passionate people out here advocating for others
Thomas Jefferson: I was gonna write a condemnation of Slavery, but I don't wanna lose supporters. I'm sure people will get over this "Racism" thing in a few years, people are smart. 200+ years later: Help! This black guy is looking at birds, I'm in danger! Come on America, you always go on about how great you are. Prove it.
Ben Pupko Because 1) Nothing about what you would be doing would be genuine. You’d be doing that simply to troll Black Lives Matter. Simply put: being a jackass. 2) When in America’s history have white people ever been put in a position where their lives didn’t matter 3) Most people shouting All Lives Matter don’t even believe that. Their whole motivation is to tell black people “Shut up. You’re not slaves anymore. We gave you the right to vote. We mostly stopped lynching you en masse. You have it good enough. What more do you want?”
"I don't think I have ever dialed 911 in my life." This really struck a cord with me. While its not like I call 911 on the reg, and as I white female, I didn't have to think twice about my safety or legitimacy 911 calling the couple of times I have needed to, like when a bike accident happened right in front of me. It was comforting to know that after I had just witnessed something terrible happen, I could call 911 and help would come. It was second nature, instinctual... It just really sank in how frightening and isolating it must be for millions of Americans who might see the supposed safety net of 911 as a potential danger itself rather than a comfort.
I thought the same thing!!! Although, I'm not American... Greek-Canadian woman (grew up in Canada now living in Greece)...WOW as a child we were TAUGHT AT SCHOOL from preschool onward...if you feel or think you are in danger or need help you CALL THE POLICE, which I have NEVER thought twice about not doing if needed and YOU CALL 911...IN AN EMERGENCY. I have not once second guessed it, but never felt unsafe in the system....and now....everyday...I'm.seeing my white privileged self and feeling very sad for unintentionally taking for granted this privilege. 😔😞
There was an Australian woman recently murdered by American cops when she called 911 about a suspected break-in and the cops arrived and mistaking her for the intruder, shot her. The idea of this happening in Australia is insane and unthinkable. We are not perfect by far - we have a disproportionate amount of indigenous people die in prison or police cells and the issue still hasn’t been addressed properly. I truly hope that the uprising in America helps us to focus on our own disparate policies that cause the disproportionate representation of aboriginal people in long term detention. But to be afraid to call the cops in the first place... that is a mind blowing thought and totally unacceptable. I hope both our countries can move forward from this sad spectacle of unequal and bigoted “justice”.
I remember seeing a video where a black man called the police for a wellness check on his black female neighbor and the police killed her. So I can understand why 9-1-1 would seem to be not for people of color.
@@br0wn640 What's hilarious is that you think anyone has to try and do ANYTHING to make people hate republicans. You are hateful people, and anyone observing your behavior can see that. THAT is why people hate you, not because a comedian is somehow the cleverest political propagandist on Earth.
We, in Australia, as do many countries, stand beside the US in the fight to end global systematic racism. We have planned peaceful protests in our capital cities. We Are All In This Together!
I am Aboriginal Australian. I am 47 years old & very aware of how Aboriginals are treated in this country. The difference is we made changes alot earlier than the US did. Google Beds are Burning by Midnight Oil. This is why we understand how the US & other countries feel.
Thank you Sherry, for standing with us, the American people. The US government, I'm afraid, is doing the exact opposite in the fight to end global & systematic racism--they are a large part of the problem now. Not forever, but just for now. Onwards and upwards! 🙏🏼✨
I need people to understand this he says this with two brothers that are police officers it was a time I feared the black police just like the white ones it’s like they become indoctrinated
This was the most real "interview" I've ever seen. There is so much to process, and small soundbites can not encapsulate the responses that are needed. We are used to hearing a sentence that brings everything together, because of our grossly shortened attention-spans, but truly, truly understanding racism requires research, listening, observation, processing time... It's our whole construct.
Historically, "asking" for equality from your oppressors -- be they individuals, systems or governments -- has rarely worked. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Few of those in power willingly relinquish (a.k.a. share) their status, position and authority. The pain of the status quo must become greater than the pain of change to move the human spirit. God is with you.
Heather Cressman So much truth in your words that it’s sad. We as the human race has not evolve/improve yet, as history and current situation has proven such.

@Charles Charlemagne sounds like you have no problem with a cop murdering a man. Wonder why that is. Incidentally, initially there were peaceful protests. Turned into riots after those peaceful protesters were attacked with tear gas and rubber bullets. But you probably already knew that and you're just fine with it.
@Charles Charlemagne The police also attack peaceful protesters. Didn't you even hear about the incident with Trump going out for that photo op in front of the church? One of the protesters who got gassed was a priest, for heaven's sake. But I guess in your book that priest was a violent arsonist too. But sure, go ahead and laugh about it.
I’ve only called 911 when I was getting beaten and almost killed by my ex. I didn’t think it would help. I was right. They arrested ME too. I don’t trust them.
The way you spoke so casually about this traumatic event broke my heart! I hope you are doing well now. My dad was Avery violent man and my biggest fear is my daughter getting manipulated by an asshole. Good luck sweetheart!
I’m sorry you experienced that. I’ve almost died from violent abuse several times. I got out, years ago. By the grace of God/Allah/Buddha/whatever you call it. I’m still in therapy. I didn't get arrested, but they did nothing. No charges, despite my broken hand. Even the judge at the restraining order hearing said "Wait, wut??" No trust at all.
@Yo Mama "I came onto this RUclips comment because I beat my girlfriend and hate when women call it out. Also, I sleep with her best friend". There, fixed it for you. Edited: Between 20-40% of cops are domestic abusers (depends on the area), so this is very much applicable to how black people are treated. The system is corrupt from the core, not a "few bad apples".
If this was happening in any other country, world leaders would be condemning Trumps response. I hear nothing from them other than Amnesty internationals condemnation.
@Zoey Lowlands Yes, American citizens have swallowed the propaganda of the American state. America is the greatest threat to world peace. It is constantly at war in the middle east under false pretences while it's own society is corrupted by capitalism. Revolution and regime change is overdue in the land of the "free". Maybe it will happen this time, or maybe not, but it will happen eventually.

Only thing is these are not civilised protests. 4 cops shot dead, some run over, looting and killings in greater numbers, assaults and threats... people are armed to save their businesses and homes. I dont see how destroying your own community gives justice and progress. Im bassicaly on the side of Terrence Floyd, Georges brother and what he said.
@@walkinondamoon1 it's hardly a one-sided thing though. Initially these were peaceful protest, and the cops attacked the protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets. In New York a cop drove his SUV into a crowd of protesters - who were standing peacefully. In Minneapolis Cops fired paint balls and rubber bullets at people who were sitting on their own torches and standing on their own property. In Washington DC, for little Donnie's photo opportunity, peaceful protesters were tear gassed and assaulted with percussion grenades. And the pastors and staff of the church he visited were driven off of the church property with pepper spray and tear gas. Riots and violence are not a good thing. But don't make the mistake of thinking this is a one-sided conflict.
@@jarodstrain8905 i agree with what you said to a very large digree. How ever the escalation is very notably. Where i dont quite agree is that its not only turned towards cops, who i would get ppl retailating against, but to ppl in the community and innocent bystanders or those that dont think alike. How does stealing from ppl hurt the cops or cure injustice. I think its partly been taken over or inflamed by antifa and other agenda driven entities and organized criminals. Both rile up ppls emotions and give ideas what to do and where to go to promote political agendas (and gain supporters) or so ppl are a cover for organized looting. @A Cool Million Saying that black people should matter too is bad branding?? No, it's the fact that white people think that only so many people can "matter" at one time and if black people matter, then that somehow means less white people matter (or no while people matter). Showing respect toward others isn't a finite commodity. You can respect people of color and believe they matter and deserve the same privilege as white people and be treated the same in all matters. It doesn't take anything away from white people except their unfair advantage of the happenstance that they were born white.
Just wait until one of the people in your social media network says "All Lives Matter." Store it away until you see that they're having a problem, like maybe a relative is in the hospital, or something, and they ask for financial help or thoughts and prayers, and just tell them "All Lives Matter. Yours are not more worthy of special attention."
He's being charged with 3rd degree murder, which is a charge slightly harsher than manslaughter and the max sentencing for that is most likely 20 years. 1st degree murder carries a life sentence, and that won't stick because that's premeditated, which this wasn't. It was a crime, someone did die as a direct result of his actions, but he didn't wake up and plan the killing of an innocent man, that's the difference between 3rd degree and first degree murder. And why the difference in sentencing.
He's absolutely right dialing 911 does nothing to resolve a situation. I'm as white as it gets. And the officers in my area do absolutely nothing when I've been robbed beaten raped. So I don't call 911 anymore either and it's really sad because my tax money pays these idiots. So I can totally relate.
Same here. My husbands been beaten by 6 cops at once before after calling 911 to try &help stop some strangers from killing each other in a fight. Dont call 911..unless ur super rich i guess.
The person who answeres 911 calls told me the police don't even answer calls after 7:00 p.m.. my city sales tax hard at work???!!! I was walking in a nearby park when I was assaulted by this homeless guys dog. It wasn't serious but although Im Very sympathetic towards the homeless who are once again growing In numbers. I thought I would report it to the police who had their main headquarters located within a quarter mile. Mainly out of curiosity I waited over half an hour and not one of the several police stopped to let me report the incident. Only In America.
In a nearby major city, police cut down on arrests dramatically recently trying to reduce the incidence of Covid-19 in jails. The result was that reported crime didn't change in the slightest. Policing doesn't actually stop crime in the US, because the cops are too busy locking up innocent black people for no reason.
“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.” - Frederick Douglass

The guy who "wrote" amazing grace ( put English words to an African mourning song) was haunted by the slaves he learned it from. It was a mourning dirge sung on a slave ship by the people he kidnapped and transported. When he gave up his slaving ways, he wrote English words to the painful melody. I am so glad it still carries that mournful sound, and people across the globe can intuitively feel that it is a song for mourning..
Some officers are so emboldened to do the most reprehensible of things because they no when they are caught for it they have an entire union to back them up, and there in lies the problem people can say " it's just a few bad apples", or " it is just one or two dirty cops", but what good is that when the other ninty eight defend those two, at that point arn't all of them tarnished? I feel their should be such things as unbecoming of a police officer, if you are caught doing the exact opposite of to serve and protect, the union should cut you off your on your own. Please good guys standing as police officer that you are good, and don't dirty yourself With the murderous and heinous actions of the few.
100%. There is forced gang mentality. Cops have to rely on eachother in the field and so when one sees someone doing something wrong, they hesitate to rat it out because that person may then not look out for them in a dangerous situation. Why do we let cops have any strikes? If you are going to have a gun and badge and the potential to take a life away, you do not deserve to have multiple write ups. Be a clean good citizen, all the time, 100%, or don't serve.
mathew idicula, Exactly!! When they catch 3 people killing a person, and a fourth outside in the get-a-way car, the fourth one gets charged with the same crime, and if any of them have anyone at home who knows its going on, and they don't report said crime, guess who else is getting charged with aiding and abetting? It should be the same for them.
mathew idicula I just read about something called “Qualified Immunity,” which basically allows cops to do the most heinous things and legally get off. It is reprehensible. The Supreme Court was supposed to review ten cases of it on May 27th but they postponed it. Some people say it is the reason the cop kept his hands in his pockets while murdering George Floyd. I’ll leave it at that. We have to do better.

“We’re just asking to matter... and that seems too much for some people”. I had an argument with yet another ‘entitled’ young white woman who can’t understand the reality of ‘all lives matter’ being erroneous when specific lives aren’t valued as much as all the other lives. It’s exhausting trying to get through to people who just don’t get that racism is about power. Somehow she can’t process that yes, individuals of any race can be prejudiced against another race but that’s not the same as systemic racism rooted in the history of a country built on genocide of Native American populations & the enslavement of people to build it. The descendants of people who thought that was okay are alive today!
I say to people -- remember that it is a slogan, so it's abbreviated. The full statement is BLACK LIVES MATTER AS MUCH AS WHITE LIVES. And that is something that truly needs to be said when the society we live in continues to devalue the lives of POC.
Winnie C That is not the society we live in. Racism is not culturally acceptable to anyone. If you want to fix something then be serious about it. Stop trying to make yourself feel better, there is no normal person out there left to convince anyone’s life matters. Come up with a real solution then start your movement.
All lives matter is not erroneous; it's all inclusive, therefore we of course belive black lives matter as well. My beef with the blm movement is that they are spinning a false narrative and dont care about facts and statistics. Stupid white liberals want black people to believe they are oppressed and the white man is holding them back from freedom and success. You guys spread hate and division.
There's racism and systemic racism, both can be as serious. It doesn't matter if a racist person that attacks you didn't have any power, it's gonna hurt as bad. So don't go trying to change definitions and think people won't catch you on it.

Why does a group of government employees that carry guns for a living need a union ? You are currently living through the outcome of that decision (their union has an extremely powerful lobbying group) Take away their union and you'll take away the power they never should have had.
Johnny ontheSpot they do need a union, they need to a union to ensure that no one expects them to do illegal things. They need protection from that and so in every single way their police union has failed them. They gave failed to make sure they have adequate training. They have failed to ensure that they are held accountable for illegality , they have failed to even ensure that the police do their jobs they need to protect and serve and under no circumstances are they at war with the community that they serve.
They need a union the same way any group of workers need a union, to bargain for pay, benefits, worker rights, occupational safety, etc. That the union has been used to protect flagrant abuse is a different issue.
one of the best reasons not to teach American History in School is that we can never break the cycle because we as a people do not know our short American History. What is taught in school is Whitewashed and every February we dissect contributions of Select people of color (jocks and musicians mostly) to put on memes - another term for that might be segregation. Michael Che believes this generation is seeing something new - sadly he is wrong. He's not alone though... Millions of Americans can not take the next step because we don't know what the last step was.
Yeah, this is just a repeat of 2014 sadly and while I'm glad the next batch of kids is learning about these issues is fantastic unfortunately it's just going to keep happening unless we can find a way to actually make an institutional change in police reform.
These two are so visibly uncomfortable having this conversation. This is so indicative of the way people who are of different hues deal with one another on a daily basis, and that is how we got to this point. It is time for us to stop tiptoeing around each other about these issues and have the tough conversations that need to be had to move forward in this country.
I actually thought they interacted really genuinely and thoughtfully with one another, though the topics themselves are uncomfortable. I hope it will inspire more people to reach out to their friends of different backgrounds and address sensitive topics that they might have different perspectives on.
That comment on never ever dialing 911 was so real.. I've never called 911 and not thought to myself, before, during and after, "did I just make things worse for me?" Because it has happened where we call and we end up getting arrested or fines or something ..... example: Out of 10 times calling , only maybe 3 would go smoothly..
He's got a point. The ONE time I called the cops while at work he spent 90% of the time interrogating me with his hand on his gun. I was like "I called YOU, man."

This was tough. Love Michael Che -- especially the rawness of his wit. But this showed me a whole other level of raw, and it was beautiful and I fucking cried.
Wow! "I had a feeling... That they're... Not for me" I always felt like they were, and was so confused when it didn't turn out that way. Light bulb! Thanks Che
I called 911 recently. I live in Chicago. I had a surreal experience. A women answered I told her where I was and what was going on and before I could finish and without a word, she transferred me. I really retold the same info, the lady yelled at me for calling Harwood police and to talk to Chicago 911. And transferred me back to the other lady who then yelled at me that I wasn't in Chicago. Wowzers!!! Apparently I was at the boarder but it freaked me out! If I were dying, this is how they'd have treated me??? I have spent a few nights now terrified that I may die around here.
“I don’t think I’ve ever dialled 911 in my life. Because I don’t think they’re for me.” That is so awful and heartbreaking. Jeez. I genuinely got teary. If I were American and saw that I’d be fucking devastated. Come on, America. Sort it out.
"Matters" is one of the best standup specials period. This is coming from a dude who saw George Carlin, Richard Pryor, and Eddie Murphy specials before 1st grade. Seth....work at it..
I only said the mean thing because I know, comedians--you're all energetic bundles of talent wrapped too tightly around a white hot core of insecurity. You could read 100 positive reviews and only half, not even half--say a quarter--of one bad one and thats all you'd remember! I just did it for attention, I didn't mean it--but I mean it now--you guys keep us all laughing at ourselves--and that is the greatest gift any person can give another--Thank you!
Total and utter browbeaten exhaustion, and yes, America is a very sick country.
we are.

Pushing the curfew is a way of saying that we're not sheep. It's a fine line to cross.

I think Seth just brought Michael on so he could get away with not having to tidy up his messy books and coffee decanter.
He's a true American. Nothing says USA like refusing to learn anything about a foreign country you are about to visit. Even if your life could depend on it.
It looks, and sounds to me, like Micheal’s mom did a hell of a job raising her children.
@Bob Smith And police brutality is? "Rioting is the voice of the unheard" - MLK. Would you like them to ask nicely? Like they've been doing for decades?

"I don't think I have ever dialed 911 in my life."
This really struck a cord with me.

When you are a cop, armed to the teeth and trained to racially profile, you are not thinking all lives matter.
Just wait until one of the people in your social media network says "All Lives Matter."
Store it away until you see that they're having a problem, like maybe a relative is in the hospital, or something, and they ask for financial help or thoughts and prayers, and just tell them "All Lives Matter. Yours are not more worthy of special attention."

Civil lawsuit damages should be paid out of their retirement funds and union coffers. Hit them where it hurts.
*And here is the evidence.*

I miss the days when young people’s problems were about making it home in time to watch our favourite show. Now we gotta solve climate change, solve racism and the entire political system.
beautifully spoken. you need to put that on a shirt and i bet you would make a fortune! as an elder millenial, i feel this sentiment so deeply.
You forgot the pandemic???
The generations before us felt so defeated and couldn't get past all this. Hopefully we do it because I don't want my kids to have to deal with this

Such an american thing to say "I didn't know there was a revolution in Egypt" 😂
The sad thing is there will be some Yanks who think the Pharos still rule the place. 🤦
There're probably Americans who think Egypt is some city in California or something.
And having pride in that lack of knowledge rather than shame is equally American.
Americans think the US is the only country in the world, and I’m American
: ) Some of us try a bit. I watch Al Jazeera a couple times per week to see what's up elsewhere. I go to talks held by immigrant communities and try to get a feel for events where they came from. (though Syrians... man, in a way, I wish I'd never heard all of that! What a flippin' disaster we helped create there. sigh.)
Thank u Michael for your candor.
my grandma (born in 1949) said the protests going on now remind her a lot of the civil rights protests except there were even more people protesting, and doing so peacefully, back then.
And my grandmother born in the 1920s remember fire hoses and dogs being sicced on black protesters, as well as being beaten and shot. There was still a certain level of fear by black people walking and living in white spaces...fast forward today, NOT. ANYMORE. how long will people who are oppressed and treated like their _literal existence_ does not hold value, be peaceful? When the same, unchecked institutionalized racism/system is constantly showing them, they don't matter??
As the late, great *James Baldwin* said about progress for equality in this country:
_“What is it that you wanted me to reconcile myself to. I was born here more than 60 years ago. I'm not going to live another 60 years. You always told me that it's going to take time._
_It’s taken my father’s time, my mother’s time, my uncle’s time, my brothers’ and my sisters’ time, my nieces and my nephew's time. How much time do you want for your progress?"_
Funny, my parents remember tanks in the streets and people burning draft offices.
@@lh3540 how is that funny.
My grandmother born in 1929 had told me many stories of how she was taken from her parents, put into boarding schools, taught to speak english and punished for speaking her native Navajo language. The government decimated our culture, our heritage, our people and have gone back on their word more times than you can keep track of. Don't ever stop fighting, don't ever give up! #BLM
Looking at all of these replies made
Me think of MAGA, and the message it is sending to his base, Make America Great AGAIN? Go backwards, to when there were no LGBT rights? To when people of color could not vote? When in the past was is “great” for everyone? It was only great for white people, and I want to move forward and “make America great” for everyone. Make 911 for everyone. George Floyd’s brother asked everyone to get out and vote for change. Remember that in November.
Bless you all and your families during this crazy time.
Your president used tear gas for a photo op?! Wow.
I'm guessing the rioters are back at it again...
@El Nubian Dude... Riots are helping you case.
That was egregious. The church he staged his photo op at roundly denounced him and the diocese wrote a letter of condemnation. He is abhorrent.
I'm waiting for someone to Photoshop a, I DON'T CARE, DO YOU , sign over the Bible , that he is holding,
there's a reason one of our nicer names for him is "Orange Shitgibbon."
Love Che- when we dont get what he’s saying, he explains it...when we dont understand that he’s joking , he laughs at his own jokes...when we dont get his jokes, he explains them
Light and love, Che; stay strong, but most of all, know you are loved. So very loved.

Thanks for sharing this conversation with us.
He's so silly. "Our mother didn't raise rocket scientist, she raised police and comedians" 🤣🤣🤣
I’m a Che fan. His thoughtfulness and insight is extremely valuable on Black Lives Matter. Keep up the great work at SNL.
I'm not. That news bit on snl is like the worst thing ever. But as a regular guy in these dark times? I have his back any day after seeing this!
“My mother wasn’t raising rocket scientists, we’re cops...” 😂
5:52 That just absolutely broke my heart...
Word salads and talking points.
Cure racism towards blacks today and what are you left with, every other kind of prejudice, especially yours.
Never been exposed to this side of Che; touched.
*"All Buildings Matter"* iykyk 😂
Edit: 2:35 🎯
This is a remarkable conversation, great interview.
Interesting to note that Amazing Graze was written John Newton due in part to the deep regret he felt about being involved in the slave trade.
Do we know Micheal! We love Michael. 🇺🇸🏴
Its a failure of the US education system, theyre not taught civics or civil rights, or their own history... or even how to tell time, your education system has failed you.
Civil rights don’t apply to Black people that’s the problem. There’s a big problem in the education system as well.
And DeVos is actively making it worse. Education should be a right but it’s being used as a commodity for the privileged.
Yo Mama
Ironic! Your choice in the username (nickname) reflects your admiration for minority culture. So no, you do not work and pay for anyone. You simply steal from us, so called minorities. Example: Yo Mama! I’ll be generous and spare you an extra one.
!YO MAMA!
No need to be a thief.
Thank you so much Mr. Che!!!
I love Michael Che’s shirt. It’s saying a lot to what we are witnessing right now.
Thanks men ! Your voices are speak better than others
Abolish police unions, internal affairs, and qualified immunity
How ironic.
There's no reason to ever abolish unions... Restructure internal affairs, and get rid of qualified immunity
no. unions are important to protect worker rights. But citizen oversight, prosecution on a state and not local level, repeal 50A in NY, and so on, yes to all that.
@@Bro.Michael_E._Moore-32Degree I wrote 'abolish police unions' in my comment...but I like dETROITfUNK comment,

No need to abolish police unions, simply disallow lobbying prosecutors and legislators with their cop cash. They bribe the prosecutors and in return they do not get charged.
Thank you for the realness!
Why does a group of government employees that carry guns for a living need a union ?
You are currently living through the outcome of that decision (their union has an extremely powerful lobbying group)
Take away their union and you'll take away the power they never should have had.
Nice working... Much love & light
one of the best reasons not to teach American History in School is that we can never break the cycle because we as a people do not know our short American History.
What this generation is seeing is not new.
It's just New To THEM.
Yeah, this is just a repeat of 2014 sadly and while I'm glad the next batch of kids is learning about these issues is fantastic unfortunately it's just going to keep happening unless we can find a way to actually make an institutional change in police reform.
This was an amazing interview!
If Trump would have opened that bible( wasn't even his prop) his face would have melted like in Raiders of the lost Ark.
So glad to see you Che! Tuned in to Instagram Saturday to see you go live only to find all your posts gone. And then I got User Not Found. Take care!
Thanks for this interview; I was hoping to hear from Micheal Che on this.
I love the way speaks to how Che...
"FEELS"👍👍😪
Appreciate the books in the background. 📚Homegoing was an amazing read. Nicely done Seth. 👍

Michael Che ur awesome...it broke me though when u said u felt 911 isn’t for you 🙏❤️
Awesome conversation.
His special "Michael Che Matters" is excellent. And he's a great stand-up. Loved seeing him here.
Thank you Micheal Che and Seth.
Great interview and so emotional.
My sister always sang Amazing Grace to my nephew. To this day you immediately get his attention with that song ^^ It's his favourite "nursery song"
Thank you, Michael.
He's got a point. The ONE time I called the cops while at work he spent 90% of the time interrogating me with his hand on his gun. I was like "I called YOU, man."
Peace one dead human starts a war,as a 10 year old in Belfast I ran into a building that had just bombed because my mammy had went in a few minutes before .its a day im still living with.respect for everyone.
This was tough. Love Michael Che -- especially the rawness of his wit. But this showed me a whole other level of raw, and it was beautiful and I fucking cried.
He’s so intelligent and articulate...I loved seeing this side of him

What an absolutely heartbreakingly honest statement.
Powerful interview
The panic on Che's face when Seth mentions his brother - bless him!
LOL when I was a kid, my mom would ask me to play Amazing Grace for her
Wow! "I had a feeling... That they're... Not for me" I always felt like they were, and was so confused when it didn't turn out that way.
Light bulb! Thanks Che
I sang amazing grace at someone’s
wedding, at the couples request🤣
Michael, God Bless you
I called 911 recently.
Because I don’t think they’re for me.”
That is so awful and heartbreaking.
Cool Michael....and a big shout-out to Seth!🖐🏾😆👍🏾
You dudes are the best!!!
By which I mean the worst! Come on, 3 exclamation points? Who could take you seriously...THAT...who could take that seriously..?
I only said the mean thing because I know, comedians--you're all energetic bundles of talent wrapped too tightly around a white hot core of insecurity. You could read 100 positive reviews and only half, not even half--say a quarter--of one bad one and thats all you'd remember! I just did it for attention, I didn't mean it--but I mean it now--you guys keep us all laughing at ourselves--and that is the greatest gift any person can give another--Thank you!
