Yeah I agree. Even if Aang tried to favor another child, Katara wouldn't let that even be a thought in Aangs mind, but personally I don't think Aang would ever favor a child of his over another. He would love them all equaly. That is messed up in Legend of Korra.
Aang spent more time with tenzin because they were the only air benders alive so it’d make sense he want to teach him everything before he passes

0:16-1:16, STOP COMPARING AANG AND KORRA! They’re both amazing in their own right! Each of them have different personalities and different lives! Which makes them different! You have to understand that Aang couldn’t learn the elements like any other Avatar. He had to do all of this under the pressure of ending a 100 year war! His responsibility of being The Last Airbender. And his responsibility of being The Avatar the world desperately needed! Korra had the responsibility of keeping the peace in the world that had just had a 100 war 70 or so years back. And, she couldn’t learn the elements like any other Avatar either! She was forced to stay in the South Pole and learn from whoever teacher the White Lotus bought. Normally Avatars must travel the world and learn to apart of each Nation. But there’s no way in hell she could’ve done that when she was cooped up in the damn South Pole. They couldn’t be the best Avatar they could’ve been because of the circumstances! But they’re both amazing...

My biggest problem with korra is that, in ATLA we are shown very clearly why you dont skip elements. Aang tried skipping from air to fire, and it blew up in his face (and katara's hands). Korra however, has zero problem mastering the other 3 elements with zero knowledge of air, it feels like it threw the philosophy behund the avatar cycle itself straight out the fucking window.

Aang messing up parenting honestly makes sense. He loved all his kids equally, that's a given, and probably tried hard to give them all attention, but he probably felt so much pressure having just one airbending child to live on. He probably felt as though if he didn't teach Tenzin everything perfectly before he dies, that the Air nation and airbending would die out completely, which it would. I can imagine he tried to teach Bumi and Kaya a bit about the Air nation, but ultimately, he had to teach Tenzin it all, and if he didn't, his culture would be lost. I do beleive he tried his best at being equal but even little things can effect how a child grows to see you.

korra's show is only seen as bad because it's always compared to avatar (which im not saying is wrong, im just saying people should look at it from a different perspective and not which one is better and which one isnt) and it shouldnt. it is an entirely different show with different people and new technology. aang and korra's journeys are very different from each other. one about a literal pacifist child that doesnt want to be the avatar, versus an excited but impatient avatar that also has romantic feelings for other characters. i just feel like people are always comparing aang to korra, when in reality they're two different shows with mainly all different characters. if anything, if korra was first they would compare her to aang and say korra is better because she was first. honestly i feel like people hating on korra for being impatient or stupid have obviously not finished the show and are just saying korra's bad because of the fact she's not aang. sorry for the long ass paragraph lmfao

On aang being a "bad" father, I think thats actually a really good addition to the story. I dont think aang would purposefully try and hurt his kids, but he did, and that adds depth to the story. It shows aang is a flawed chatacter, which makes him more believable. He isnt just some all powerful all knowing god. He is just a person with a lot of responsibility on his shoulders trying to do the right thing, and because he is human, he accidentally hurts ppl he didnt intend to. I feel like if he stayed alive longer, he might have made amends, but his death left the problem unsolved, and thats actually a very realistic situation.

People have to realize that when we criticize tlok we do not criticize korra as a character but the writing of the show. Yes they both lost connections to the past lives, no one is blaming korra nor aang for that. People are just annoyed that the writers didn't make a way for korra to fix it because the avatar cycle and the past lives are what made the avatar so interesting. When aang goes into avatar state while fighting ozai we can see all the past lives and their eyes glow, it's just too cool. When the next avatar goes into avatar state and there is only korra behind him who is going to be impressed. Imagine aang vs ozai, him entering the avatar state and only having roku behind him. One of the best elements of the show was destroyed.

To everyone who thinks Toph becoming chief of police is out of character: Republic City was newly forming, and its government was both flexible and liable to corruption. Previously, all the governments in the Avatar world had been a dictatorship and not a democracy. The possibilities Aang and the gang had to form this completely new type of government were endless. Because of this, the first chief of police would naturally have a huge part in deciding how charges would be handled and the enforcement style of the city--and quite possibly even have a large say in the making of laws. No matter what, Toph would naturally have a large part in creating the new government system by being so close with the Avatar, the Fire Lord, and other high ranking officials, but being the chief of police gave her even more of a say. Toph would have chosen to be chief of police to manipulate law enforcement to her advantage. We can see her doing it during flashbacks when Toph uses her position to get all charges against Suyin to be dropped without a trial or anything. She seemed very casual doing it, probably because it had not been the first time. This would also make sense as to why she wasn't at all proud of Lin when she followed in her footsteps. The government would be more stable by that point, and Lin was too uptight to want to play her position to her advantage anyway.

that second lady pissed me off. first off the bat, aang was 12 and korra was 17. this is already messed up. but here are my points on why aang is a better avatar than korra.
-he learned the elements in record time!
-he ended the fricken war thats been going on for a century, in under 15 munutes!
-ok we all know it, korra would have a hard time beating azula (when shes sane ofc) and it not like she can redirect lighting like aang sooo what now
-korra grew up spoiled and sheltered, which i guess isnt her fault but he didnt have to let it all go to her head
-aang and korra have had the same experiences (korra was tortured but aang died) and we dont see aang losing his past connections
-people keep forgeting that without jinora (twice actually) korra would be dead. If unavattu didnt get her then zaheer would. Without jinora the avatar cylcle ceaises to excist
-yes without katara and iroh aang wouldnt have survived either, but did you see how faast he bounced back! mans died and was on th glider in a month tops but korra cant do shit for 3 years
-aang brought peace better then korra did (another thing she cant control but whatever) aang and zuko had struggles bringing balance to the world but at least there where no vines coming out of the ground and killing people
-aang is nicer
-he had a team avatar like a lot of the other avatars. Korra "team avatar" was just her aquantainces not even friends
-aang learned how to bring peace and get the girl, korra and asami have a month tops (their personalitys are too different, they are like zutara. It just wont work in the long run)
-aang didnt shout at his father figure
-although he did like to play hero a lot, aang ~most of the time-~knew when he needed help and asked for it. Korra on the other hand ran into things head first (like meeting up with amon unarmed)
-aang was willing to fight and use force if it meant protecting his friends. Korra constantly puts her "friends" in unnecesary danger

no i just meant that he finished ozais reign over the fire nation in under 15 minutes. while ozai was in control the war was going on, but as soon as aang defeated him and he was taken down, the war was over

I’m not trying to hate on anyone they’re both great avatars, but they’re different people, so they handle stuff differently! Aang being an air nomad was very spiritual and patient, Korra on the other hand was a water bender from the southern water tribe they have a different way of life. Even though Korra was older Aang was always mature and thought things through. Both of them have they’re advantages and disadvantages, but at the end of the day they saved the world and that’s what counts

He wasn’t exactly killed in the Avatar State, he was most likely passing out / losing consciousness due to shock and pain hitting his spinal cord. Lightning could quite possibly be as painful as a low-caliber pistol, like a Glock or 9-mm. It wouldn’t be as much as being absolutely murdered, it’d most likely just make him become unconscious. Also, Katara came immediately rushing over and using the “Magic healing water”.
EDIT: I forgot to add this, Aang is a literal 12 year old, which he later absolutely beat a fully grown Firelord, on the day of Sozin’s Comet,
