An epic track and a watershed recording. Absolutely brilliant - I caught this on MTV at the time and loved it. The production is very classy and hasn't aged at all, and Lourdes Morales is a far better vocalist than Madonna ever was: her powerful, engaging and clean vocal adds so much emotional power to the song.
shout out to Rose Royce - Is It Love You're After and Love Is the Message by MFSB feat. The Three Degrees and Mark Moore who brought the sample to Malcolm - and our old school nyc ball scene and those who are no longer with us
In fact, this is a remix that Malcolm found to be much better than his original song. Then the remix became the original. Part of the credit should go to Maria Lourdes Morales' vocals which give this song a sensitive tone, but she was forgotten. In any case, it is an excellent song, without a doubt. A pioneer in many aspects, whether it be the theme it addresses, the length of the song, the dance elements, etc. Brilliant, certainly.
One of the greatest dance tunes to end the 80s. And still remember my rayon shirt from Matinique and black wing tip shoes with thick soles. Very cool era. Macy’s in N Y all decked out for 50 year anniversary of the Wizard of Oz. Those were the days.
I have the 12" too (IMO one of the ten greatest dance 12-inches of all time), but it's actually the primary version - at least among those that were released. The shorter album/7" version is a reworked edit of this one, not the other way around. There was an earlier rough mix that McLaren gave to Moore and Orbit to work on for their remix, but he was so impressed with their work that he decided the 12" would serve as the master version. Whatever the earlier cut sounded like, it remains unreleased.
LEGENDARY SONG! This song is STILL kicking ass!

I apologize but who is Madonna? Does ‘she’ know how to VOGUE? Sounds sorta familiar, nah.

Who is doing the female vocal on this song?
Her name is Lourdes. That’s all I know. I didn’t find much info about her.
A woman who went by the single name of Lourdes. She was introduced on the album in the song credits.
i thought that was madonna's daughter's name @@victorzelocualtecatl5233
