Fun Game but Tayam could have won with no library at upkeep and here's how. 1. At upkeep tap 3 mana and remove 3 mana from Wall of roots. Mill (doesnt matter, everything is in the graveyard) and return Shield Mate to the battlefield. 2. Activate Shield mate, and target devoted druid. 3. Activate Devoted druid 3 times making 3 mana and activating Tayam. Target Eternal Witness and with EW target chain of smog if in GY and not hand. 4. Repeat step 3 but target Endurance and target self to shuffle GY to library. 5. Draw and go to main phase to cast Chain of Smog and win.
Hey, Olivia, you did okay. I personally really don't like cEDH, as I prefer the hijinks of Casual. Which, by the way, your combo is one my boy Craig plays in Izzet Superfriends. He just plays it with a bunch of extra turn cards, lol. Either way, congrats on your first cEDH win. It is what it is.
I don’t play it that much or want to watch it all the time, but it can be fun as a treat every now and then. I think Eilidh might want to try D&T if/when y’all do it again. No combo required, just creatures that keep everyone else honest while turning sideways, it’s practically made for her!
Olivia, never feel sorry for playing Drannith Magistrate. As the "bad guy" at my card shop, it is a necessity to keep people off of glass cannon BS commanders and punishes players who go all-in on the commander without removal.
I'm so here for the continued collaboration with the Spikes! Jim and Elliot are awesome. I was just smiling. It was neat watching your foray into cEDH. Hope you enjoyed our awesome country, Olivia!
Great game! Quick but action-packed. Sidenote: It probably wouldn't have mattered in the long run, but Niv-Mizzet would have drawn Jim a card on each cast of Brain Freeze, giving him a 1 damage ping per draw. In this case, Olivia could just mill Jim first so he can't ping her to death before getting milled out. Even if he draws a counterspell, Olivia could just recast Brain Freeze with escape like she had been. Minor missed trigger that -probably- wouldn't change the outcome once Breach resolved.
Fun episode, but I’m really annoyed that Olivia and Eilidh didn’t adhere to the “every game action you take must increase your chances of winning” mentality of cEDH. When Eilidh had the chance to Bog the LED, she absolutely should have done it, regardless of how much Olivia complained, because not pulling your punches is how the social contract of cEDH functions. It’s the only clear line in the sand between normal commander and cEDH. Shoot another episode where everyone is on the same page with that, and you will get an actual cEDH game.
@jaredbobier2844 - If you haven't seen it yet, I'd watch the episode they did on the Spike Feeders channel. Because Jim talks about the cEDH social contract in that game.
There wouldn't have been enough pings to kill Olivia, but the Niv triggers could have drawn into a Force of Negation or a Delay which could exile the Brain Freeze
Guys, this is cEDH but at the same time, there wasn’t any tournament rulings or anything. If there was a “misplay”, oh well so be it, the better thing is that THEY had fun. You can’t let one thing like that annoy you.
So kinda not cedh when someone can politic or plead to not be bogd with a LED in the yard / best target and then wins because it didn't happen right after.
I really don't understand Eilidh, gave Olivia the Wishclaw on the premise of "I will give it back to you when I use it" she doesn't give it back and then you don't bog her after she begs you not too, after just lying to you and reneging on what she literally just said she would do. HUH?
One word "Olivia". Seriously though, I saw a recent game knights episode with her as a guest. They let her grow her board after whining, and she won. I've never seen her content but was curious about all the comments about her. Saw a few episodes of commander at home and she's the same way, and RUclips recommended this channel plus another one where she's a guest on, and guess what. Similar complaints about her whining to the point she doesn't get targeted or is allowed to run off with the game. What's the deal? Who is she ? It makes for a poor watching experience since people are purposely not attacking her. I understand being friends and playing politically but this seems to happen super often.
Mandatory draw from Niv Mizzet Parun trigger might have actually been relevant on resolution of each instant cast. 😅 I checked the Niv list, unfortunatly no "target player draws a card" instant spell for a fun revenge response to Olivia's 0 cards library. 😢 Still a fun game, and with a better fitting ending than counting each trigger on that trigger/spell nightmare fuel. 😂
Nope if you look at incrementals there's no way he could've killed her before she would mill him out. First cast is Storm 3 (mill 9 cards), 2nd cast is Storm 5 (mill 15), 3rd Storm 7 (mill 21)... and if it was an issue she could just recast LED multiple times before casting BF to up the Storm count, only thing that could've stopped her is someone forcing her to draw while her library is empty (and Jim could've drawn into it with Niv's triggers). Niv's damage was irrelevant. Additionally... there might've been Thassa's Oracle in her deck. So she only had to mill herself.
@@nikolamatasin3877 ping trigger was indeed irrelevant, draw trigger not so much. Some people allready pointed up that esper sentinel trigger would force Olivia to draw and lose, so a timed response to LED casting would kill and clear the stack from brainfreeze copies. I have to point out that she did have responses in the grave and infinite mana due the loop.
@@EDHijinks We know you wouldn't do anything like that on purpose. You're always a joy to watch and clearly to be around :) Please stand up to Olivia though and stop letting her complain her way out of things. She's adorable and your friend but it's happened several times and people are noticing.
Unless he has Test of Talents in the deck, or some other counter which would exile Brain Freeze, and he drew into it, he couldn't do anything really... Damage from Niv wouldn't be enough to finish Olivia before she would mill him out. Not sure if it would matter if she left him for last either, especially since she could replay LED multiple times, between casting Brain Freeze again to fill up her graveyard, before he would even draw a card from Brain Freeze, then Storm count would be really high. I guess there's a chance where she could go too greedy and cast LED too many times, before Brain Freeze, and then BF is countered with negate or free spell, without enough cards in her graveyard to recast Brain Freeze, which would stop the loop, but yeah... There was also a chance of him drawing into something then triggering Esper Sentinel so she would draw a card, while her Library is empty I guess...
funny thing is I'm pretty sure unless I missed something. The Tayam player could have won with the decklist. At upkeep on his turn he could have activated his commander and brought back the E. Witness for noxious revival and then casted it. targeting anything which would have been his draw and then simply passed turn with olivia being decked out at that point.
It's a little annoying that Olivia cried enough when Eilidh was going to exile the LED from her graveyard, so Eilidh didn't exile it. And then immediately after, Olivia combo'd off with it. I don't enjoy when she does that it casual games, but it's especIally annoying here.
