Thank God the world is finally getting to hear more of your great solo guitar playing after me first hearing it about 25 years ago in your upper west side appartment!
@@kellmerWF52 Lol...He played solo guitar for me during a guitar lesson in 98' or so...(I saw him open for Steve Vai(1993) before he even played Jazz. I remember he wasn't keen on doing solo guitar back then. I encouraged him to do more of it and very happy he's doing it!!!
This stands as a high-water mark of solo jazz guitar, it is that good-- an astonishing tour de force of adventurous harmonic ideas, chromatic counterpoint and flawless execution.
Miami represent. Saw him open up for Steve Vai in the 90's in Ft. Lauderdale. Jonathan was this good back then. Went to Gulliver high school with his brother
Beautiful arrangement ... pure mastery and deep musicality. Crazy right hand control and flawless, effortless fingering. Thanks for sharing. Made my day
Simply phenomenal! Nice to hear the verse included. That old ES-175 (I think) sounds great, are you using a larger #1 string? I don't understand what you're doing harmonically...but I find it surprising and interesting nonetheless. Thanks for posting! :)
I think he put it there to protect the pick-up being scratched from his strong picking. Or het wrote the notes of the strings on it 😂 I live this guy, always great and tasteful playing!
@@jjevanos to keep the pick from clicking on the pick up cover. he also might have unspotted Pickups depending on what year that guitar is and they sound great but they click because there’s no wax in them so that’s what the cloth tape is for.
I had been discovered that the more fancy you try to be the more ordinary sound, just in my ear. I will apply it and try to better play as simple as possible. to avoid this confusion unnecessary that make the music sound backwards, in my ear. Just a humble comment that I will apply for now on. I am always trying to find something for my arsenal. There is always room for improvement. FTW.
To my ears, a lot of what this guy plays sounds like exercises. It's very different from the more natural and organic playing you hear from guys like Bill Frisell.
What a dumb comment. You can prefer someone else’s playing but saying someone else is more natural or organic….this is music, not a health food store, dude.
@@bostonmitchl2778 This is not on a level higher than Frisell. I'm a professional musician that graduated from Berklee 20 years ago, and I have perfect pitch and high degree of relative pitch. You're clueless.
@@MrThinkingahead Out of all guitarists out there why did you choose Frisell to compare him too? Also why should anybody care if you have perfect pitch, and what does that have to do with musical taste/choice?

I'm pretty sure you didn't leave one fret on the table. A real pleasure to listen to. That arrangement would take me 20 years to come up with.
This is wonderful, and the little yorkie in the background makes it all that much better, thank you for this : D
Wow!!! Simply Awesome…!!! 🎉🎉🎉
So dang lovely!

Superb👌
Best 175 tone ever!
What is that white thing on the pickup, and what is it for?

It's great. Was it conceptualized at the piano?
Tone comes mostly from a players hands... that guitar sounds damn good tho
You erased my comment, why? You only keep comments that stroke your ego?

You should work on your ears then. With all due respect to Frisell, this is on another level.
