I’m recommending this guys account on my other social media. A lot of woodworkers out there flex their expensive machines. This guy is so relaxing to watch.
I love how your workbench's equivalent of dogs is just using clamped down wood pieces. This is super helpful while I procrastinate retrofitting my workbench for hand tool work (was designed with power tools in mind originally).
Half blind dovetails were the first dovetails I ever tried by hand. What a challenge that was, it came out pretty well but I have a bit more practice to go before it’s perfect. Nice build!!!!!
You have fulfilled your destiny of your surname Mr. Planer! Beautiful work. I think you can knock down that glossy sheen with 0000 steel wool if you want.
Ikea primarily uses very short pieces joined together by CNC finger jointing. That's an admirable approach to minimizing waste. Also, Ikea uses European beech (Fagus sylvatica) just as much as pine. I prefer the look of pine over beech any day.
Due to its ubiquity, Southern yellow pine is undervalued in the US where it's used primarily as a building material. It's beautiful grain and color combined with a hardness, often exceeding many traditional hardwoods, it's just as useful for building high quality furniture.
I just found this video. Good work Alexander. I am subscribed now so keep making videos. I am going to shift to building more with hand tools in some of my future videos.
Loved this project and the video. Your camera work is outstanding and something I aspire to. Have subscribed and will watch more of your videos. Regards One Handed Maker
I like the trick of putting a little knife wall to register against the pin board during layout! Nice job. QQ, why tenons on some parts and dowels on others?
Great work. Please be careful when chiseling toward your hand, as when you were cutting out the half blind dovetail recesses. Clamp the board to the bench.
I agree with the other commenters........very nice work with very tight joints. One small quible......at the 3:00 minute mark you are using a chisel with your fingers and hand directly ahead of the chisel........DO NOT DO THAT......one slip of that chisel and you will have a nasty injury. Sorry, I don't mean to lecture but please try to always keep your body parts behind the chisel. Except for that, you should be quite proud of your work.
Thank you for your comment! It might look deceivingly dangerous on camera but in this case the only direction in which the chisel could have slipped was into the knifewall. With a few exceptions I always keep my hands behind the tool.

I can smell the pine from here. Great work!

Just perfect craftsmanship and technique; bravo.
Some folks take woodworking to artistry. You do this with both your woodworking and your video production. Thanks.
I love your wood holding methods the plane stops and judicious use of clamps for other - inspiring
Fantastic work, tight joints and clean lines, and finished piece is immaculate. Wonderfully executed, sir.

Beautiful work. I think you can knock down that glossy sheen with 0000 steel wool if you want.
Well done. Nice to see you make videos in your own style; lovely tight joinery too. Look forward to seeing more.
Excellent work! Please keep hand tool videos coming.
Thanks, i certainly will.
No fancy wood working bench. Imagine that. An amazing result with an ordinary work bench and a clamp.
Great work. I wish I was that good!
Excellent! I adore it. Including the beautiful gloss finish.
Beautiful work. And the pine is surprisingly nice looking, not cheesy like ikea junk. 👍🤗

Great work! Thanks for sharing!

Lovely work and a beautiful piece.

Awesome build. I love the background d music. Please make another video
Nice work

Subscribed ! Good work. Thank you
Nice work! That came out great.
Really nice work Alexander!

Great job!
Where did you get that awesome looking pine?! :) How was it dimensioned before the joinery began?
Nice job, keep them coming!
Thank you, i will.
Beautiful. How did you finish the top?
Very nice job!!! Beautiful, what lumber did you use?
You deserve 👏 👍
Nice job!!!
Always keep your hands behind cutting edges!
I like the trick of putting a little knife wall to register against the pin board during layout! Nice job. QQ, why tenons on some parts and dowels on others?
I just messed up and cut my board too short, i did not allow for the lengh of the tenons.

How was the top fastened to the body? Please show
The top is fastened with 90 degree angle brackets and the holes adjacent to the top are larger to allow wood movement
Oops, sorry, just noticed the text saying you used pine, thanks.
More!
i wish i had my hand tools during lockdown :(
Well done, i too have my workbench on the balcony. Next time try using mortise and tenon instead of dowels
What kind of wood is that?
Just plain pine, i used pieces with no knots.
Yes..... see you soon
