    Hi Tiff,
    I lost my ovaries and felopian tubes in my early 20's. I did not use HRT. I am now almost 46. I eat right, exercise, take good quality supplements and I am happily married with no children. I take it one day at a time and thank God I am still here. I write this to give hope to those ladies that opted out or cannot take HRT and are afraid of what may lie ahead. There is life on the other side, but you have to work to stay as healthy as possible. There will be sacrifices and discomfort you will have to work through. I seldom get hot flushes anymore. My body adjusted. Everyone has to do what feels right for them. I wish all the best on this new journey Tiffany. God bless you my dear!.

    Tiffany, your problems with getting up at night because of your stoma and getting hot flashes, thinning bones, etc. are exactly what most women go through at one point or another. My experience was that I put up with horrible mood changes and hot flashes for a couple of years. I did everything I could to live with them because there are consequences that go with HRT and my general philosophy is to leave well enough alone. Finally, I was so moody and my flashes didn't just result in moisture. It was wet through my clothes and wet sheets at night. I was very red in the face and nobody could possibly miss my hot flash, or the fact that I was always whipping off my sweater and five minutes later putting it back on. HRT smoothed this out but I didn't need to stay on it forever. I don't know how long you will be on replacement therapy. But even now at 82 years old I still wake up three times at night to go to the bathroom. Most older women do I think. At least everyone I know I wakes up twice or three times at night. As for hot flashes, I'm often cold at night when I first get into bed so I put on my flannel PJ'S. Along about 3 :00 or 4 :00 in the morning I wake up and pull off my PJs because I'm a sweaty mess. I still occasionally get a more moderate hot flash than I used to get.
    If your doctors agree then better days are ahead. Ask how long you might need this therapy because some of us might like to know if it's a permanent thing for you. I stopped HRT as soon as I could and I do have bone thinning and some heart complications. But then I'm 82 and so far nobody lives forever and I'm already living longer than the average demographic for women in America.
    I feel sorry for your troubles but just know that it isn't unique to you. Your waking up and hot flashes are universal for women. You are just experiencing it sooner. Don't worry. All will be well. There are useful medications for thinning bones and good eating habits and exercises help cardiac problems. Medical science isn't perfect but it's pretty good.

      Tiffany is only 30 and she went into menopause in one foul sweep. So, it likely is much different than those who go into menopause naturally… and still have their ovaries providing some estrogen at least. It would be extremely difficult going through it at 30, while also dealing with side effects of cancer treatment (also having cancer treatment) and a stoma. So I don’t think what Tiffany is going thru is the typical menopause experience.

    • @_Pia12
      @_Pia12 Месяц назад +4

      Natural menopause is nothing like early, chemically or surgically induced menopause. My oncologist, cancer nurse and oncology nurse practitioner have all told me this. The symptoms are far less sudden and extreme in natural menopause as your ovaries reduce the level of oestrogens they produce slowly over many years before menstruation actually ceases. Add to that, many young women put straight into early menopause have to take oestrogen blocking meds for many years after chemo, surgery and radiation. After menopause your body will still produce 20 - 30% of the normal level of oestrogens for a menstruating woman. Women with oestrogen fed cancer have to have this low level of oestrogen completely blocked. This leads to negative health effects that are not part of the natural ageing process in women.

      @@_Pia12 I went through chemo-induced menopause and it was brutal. People would see me have a hot flash and say -- oh I know what that's like. I wouldn't say anything but would think - this is 100x more intense than natural menopause! No comparison.

    Hi Tiffany..I experienced premature menopause at the age of 35 due to having autoimmune disease that started by the age of 21. My symptoms developed gradually with heart palpitations, anxiety, hot flashes, and mood disorders, including depression. It eventually got to the point where I was soaking wet from head to toe throughout the night, as well as my pajamas & bedsheets. Unfortunately, due to various medical conditions, I wasn't a candidate for HRT. I sufferered through this nightmare for 9 years and made it through (by the Grace of God). I later found out I had developed severe osteoporosis (untreatable), which has resulted in my requiring the use of a wheelchair the past few years because the bones in my feet have disintegrated . I'm only telling my story so you know you are not alone in this, and the fact that you're ABLE to take HRT is truly a blessing. You've been through much worse, my dear, and you will come through this with flying colors. Sending light, love, and prayers to you, Matt, & Ama from the USA.🇺🇸 GOD BLESS...💙🙏xxooxxo

      I went through memopause with mild hot flashes, but HRT is a huge cancer risk and US doctors would never recommend HRT to a woman who had stage 4 Adenocarcinoma. Such a huge risk when it’s caused cancer in so many women and because women and people do not have the grace to tolerate discomfort and look for a quick fix like HRT have ended up so sorry with a myriad of other health issues besides cancer. I'm so glad you're going on HRT - estrogen is hugely important for a woman's health and unfortunately a bad, misleading study in the early 2000's has caused so much fear and conflicting information to be spread to women about HRT. The word is out now that there are SO many health issues directly attributed to low estrogen - bones, heart and alzheimers being the big 3. Hot flashes and night sweats are very uncomfortable and HRT can help with those, but pre-mature menopause has so many more longterm BIG health implications. Again, I'm really glad you're going on HRT and your doctors are in agreement. 💙💙💙💙💙

    Tiffany, I’m 63 and I still have like hot flashes! I seem to feel like I’m overheating but it’s not a thyroid or any other type of health condition, it’s menopause. I didn’t start going through menopause until I was 54. They say it can last up to 10 years or so. It’s not quite as bad as it was five years ago. It has led up a tiny bit over the years. But yeah, I see I know what it is and, I don’t like the cold but I can’t take the heat in 2010 , I had a near heatstroke that summer and it was only around 82° that day. I had heat exhaustion, but I was able to get it under control getting in the shower and then getting under the air conditioning. It took I felt like my bones were on fire. I’ve never had it butmenopause episodes can be brutal! I don’t have them every day any longer, but I have at least one episode every two days for sure. Are used to have them often on all day long every day. But I think I’m getting to the end of that rope.😅
    You go through menopause you get dry your skin so always wear a good moisturizer made for your face and for your body. You can use a mineral oil people used to use baby oil and shower and then apply baby oil, but I don’t think anybody really does that anymore unless they’re going out in the sun.
    Most people don’t realize when you apply sunscreen whether it’s to your body or your face you need to apply that every hour or two for as long as you’re going to be in the sun! A lot of people will purchase a bottle of sunscreen and they’ll use it all summer it’s not protecting you. You need to go through a Bottle every few days if you’re going to be in the sun every day. I didn’t say it the scientist or professionals or whoever tells you all about this stuff is the one that said it!!
    You should use a moisturizer a sunscreen whatever on your face that is made for faces! Don’t use body lotion on your face! Body lotion, hand creams are made for the hands in the body faces have special cream that doesn’t block pores.
    You’re gaining weight your face looks full and healthy, living and enjoy life❤

    Take the HRT. It protects you from much much more than just hot flushes.

    Just an FYI, while HRT does fix the hot flushes and provides many benefits for sure, in some women it can cause weight gain and acne as well. Hope all works out ok for you!! ❤

    I went on HRT when I was 40. It didn’t really help me a lot actually didn’t help me at all. I then developed breast cancer and I don’t know why but I blamed it on the HRT I am now past menopause. I am 62 years old so please just do your homework, as I’m sure you have been doing good luck.

    Don’t take any hormones. My mom got breast cancer from them.

    • @watchthisheadspace
      @watchthisheadspace Месяц назад +8

      That's so sad I'm so sorry. But you simply can't know the cancer came from hormones. Our body has those hormones already. There are so many factors that affect hormones (assuming you mean oestrogen, testosterone, progesterone, there are many other hormones) including things like weight, diet etc

    • @watchthisheadspace
      @watchthisheadspace Месяц назад +6

      Everything comes with a risk but for many the risk of not taking them is higher or the symptoms are unmanageable and affecting quality of life. As long as one is educated on what they're taking and make as informed a choice as they can they know the risk

      It’s not fair to make a blanket statement like that because everyone is different and there are sooooo many benefits to HRT and many many many more women take them without any negative sequelae than those who take them and develop cancer

      Well, I've never taken HRT and so far have not had cancer or any of the other symptoms most longterm takers of HRT say they take HRT to prevent. (I'm 72.) I haven'thad night sweats or hot flashes or tachycardia since age 56 (year after my last period.) However, if HRT ended my osteoarthritis and gave us back the energy we had at age 30, I'd go on it tomorrow, lol!😂

  • @sharonhoward884
    @sharonhoward884 Месяц назад +2

    I had ovarian ablation which induced early menopause and did not take any HRT. The cons outweighed the pros for me. Even though I had a hundred hot flushes a day (or at least it felt that way) symptoms pass if you stay healthy and try to take it in your stride as just part of your everyday. Assistance with maintaining good mental health is probably equally if not more important. There are other things to maintain bone health etc without resorting to HRT. It raises the risk of stroke and breast cancer and although it may be only slightly, if you look at your own situation you would have fallen into an almost 0% risk for what you have endured already yet sadly you did.

      Isn't there an organisation who could help you to find a new home or at least to put you on a waiting list for a social housing? Here in Belgium it's always an option.

    • @sharonhoward884
      @sharonhoward884 Месяц назад +1

      Work hard & save hard while you don’t have the expenses most of us have day to day. Once you do that you can take the drivers seat and move out. If your family are what you say then that’s sad but it should be an even bigger motivation to achieve independence as soon as possible & live your life the way you want to. See a counsellor through the local welfare dept. They have a free service to help with budgeting. Put your name down at any and all social housing organisations, government and not for profit. Some will help with rental bond deposits for private rental if they don’t have suitable housing or you’re too far down the waiting list. Find a cheaper area and start researching. Set goals, make them visual on a board. It won’t happen if you don’t make it happen.

    Tiffany,
    You'll read a ton of pros and cons from every woman out there, with good intentions given.
    Ultimately you'll have to pick and choose from your suggestions from your doctor.
    It may be a hit and miss for the first little time but eventually both you and your doctor will find the perfect dose of which ever medication recommended.
    Me personally I take 0.3 mg of Prempro. Yes it has helped me for years!
