Don't use the auto mode on the 4 wheel drive selector switch. This causes all these problems if it's in auto mode. USE 2 HIGH! NEVER USE AUTO MODE!!!!!!!!!!
That is a terrible genearion of GM trucks.
I hace a 2018 with 88k. Chevy wants 500 to flush fluud but they dont change filter. Is there a reason for that? I have always changed my fluuds but there is no diostick on ny 8speed tranny and not sure of procedure. It kind of ramdomly bumos when i stop but changes smooth. Any suggestions? Should I change fluid? One transmission shop even says don’t change it
we change the fluid and filter and also make sure that you have your mass air flow sensor cleaned, I have a video on this and we have corrected several shifting complaints this way

You are the only person I’ve seen so far that mentions the MAF sensor and the 8L90 shifting harshly. Nobody really talks about it or maybe knows about it. Good on you. Cleaning the MAF sensor is an important component for the 8L90 and 6L80 / 6L90 in having smooth shifts, especially 2-3 and 2-1.
Have you tried that method ? Now I’m convinced I should try that before fluid and filter change
My goodness, Sir. Excellent vid..Quick question, I will check my fluid level but it is hard shifting from starts. My O2 sensor is showing problem after diagnostic. Could this be a problem in hard shifting? 2019 GMC Kodiak Z71 4x4. Thx
there is a difference between an oxygen sensor overheat and a lean or rich bank one or two code, so make sure that it is an oxygen sensor problem and not a vacuum issue but any time unmonitored air gets past the mass air flow sensor it can cause shift concerns and oxygen sensor concerns

I've got try 6L80 in my 2014. Harsh downshifts. I'm going to clean the sensor tomorrow!

@@domeslacker turned out to be bigger issues. Pump started making noises. Replaced with Jasper.
This literally fixed my bad shifts. Trusted the dealership when they did the fluid flush but that didn't resolve the harsh shifts and shuddering.
My truck recently had both the hard downshifts and stuttering at idle. I bought all new coil packs and it fixed the stuttering. Now I just need to fix the hard shifting
My issue is the gear shit on my 2018 Chevy Silverado gets stuck and when I use the telescopic steering button and pull steering wheel back and forth it will shift.
