- This video describes the concept of anosognosia. Anosognosia is a lack of insight or awareness about having a disorder and is a strong predictor of poor treatment outcomes. Anosognosia often occurs with Schizophrenia and occurs about 40% of the time with Bipolar Disorder. Anosognosia is different than denial. Anosognosia is thought to be neurologically-based. Denial is a psychological mechanism often observed with substance use disorders.
This is a fantastic video Dr Grande. Thank you for your work.

I had no idea about the concept of anosognosia. It does appear like denial but truly it’s a lack of insight. I think I have seen quite a few cases in my workplace.
Dr. Grande, I have been going through your playlist searching for videos that I might have missed and rewatching other ones. While doing so, I noticed that you reorganized your playlist. I just wanted to say that I liked very much the way you rearranged your videos. Well, I may be biased because I like everything that you do, but I am always sincere.🙂
Thank you!❤
One of my employees is bipolar. She was speaking with me on this subject.
She knows somethings not right, but doesnt know what.
The best wisdom informative channel on RUclips.
I would be very interested in learning about the possible link between autism and Anosignosia.
Dr. Grande, what is your opinion on forced or assisted hospitalization/medication?
thanks
Hi Dr.Grande, I was having a delusion for a few weeks and I was not aware of it until later. Is becoming aware of your delusion eventually part of Anosognosia?
I thought it was someone who has a severe case of making decisions
Is it associated with Alzheimers?
yes and a lot
Wait, if you have Schizophrenia…doesn’t it automatically mean you’re nuts and don’t know it? I mean, if you KNOW it…then you’re not that sick? Sorry, I’m having problems with what seems to be a BS word! It’s kind of like the word “Woke”!
Hmm I wonder if I have that lol
sup with that 5 pointed star - trying to tell us something, Doc?
