Omg this video helped me put my hair in a bun for the first time in my life! For real! 😂 I swear my hair weighs 10 pounds or something crazy, the strands themselves are thick and i have a lot of it and began growing it back down to my back since last year. Any attempt at a bun either snapped the poor hair tie or popped out into a ponytail immediately. Even when I cut it to my shoulders, my hair became too thick and short to properly tie up. So this is actually amazing I finally found someone with similar hair and the best method for making a bun with it! Thank you! :D
Thank you. My daughter is a competitive performance company dancer. We have to create perfect buns in less than 10 minutes in between numbers and quick costume changes. I’ve always just used a doughnut sponge to make them, but sometimes they turn out to be much too huge and can become very loose & floppy which can turn into a BIG problem during a competition. It’s my biggest stressor during comps. It has literally kept me up at night on many occasions. I break a sweat just thinking about creating a perfect bun on her head under the pressure of having very little time to do it. Recently, her director encouraged me to learn how to make a classic bun without any type of bun maker for more consistency and reliable stability. -So here I am on You Tube trying to learn how to go about this. Help! Lol. She has SO much hair compared to most, and doesn’t want to cut it off. But I am tempted to do it just to solve this bun problem. It is down to her waist and EXTREMELY thick and coarse, much like horse hair. It’s also naturally curly... like reeeeally curly. We have to spend several hours flat ironing it prior to a competition just to smooth it out. Regular hair bands don’t even twist around her pony tail without snapping. So we have to use those special giant rubber bands just to get it into a basic pony tail. This tutorial is by far the BEST one that I have found about this so far. It’s simple and to the point, which I appreciate more than words. Thank you SO very much for taking the time to teach us this. All three of you ladies who dedicated your time & energy to creating this helpful tutorial. God bless ya’s. I really had NO idea that it was even possible to create a classic bun with thick, long hair without using a bun maker of some type. This is very encouraging and I’m going to begin practicing it this week. Thanks again! 💗🩰
I'm so glad our little video helped. Hopefully this will take some of the pressure off of performance day. Don't be afraid to pile on those hair ties. The security of the ponytail is a key element.
Ah! Two tails! Great idea. My daughter is Sri Lankan and has very long thick hair. I’ve struggled to get her hair to fit as neatly as the white girls in her dance class by following their tutorials. I’m going to try this one. Thanks!!
Esther has beautiful hair😃 but if you are doing your hair for a performance you should use hairspray to slick back all the baby hairs and flyaways on the hairline and in the back but this is a great tutorial for class
Sometimes it needs patience and practice, when I tried it for the first time it didn't work, but after a long time of doing it you might just make it perfect
I have the same hair as this beautiful kid.. but thicker 😖 i wish someone could do it for me daily for work 😩☹️🥺 but im wondering if it would gimme a headache to have the base ponytail so tight… which is always the case for me

I have very long and thick hair. This is not easy to do by myself and is very heavy 😬.
My hair pops hairties lol
There are extra large hair ties available at some drug stores that might work very well for you. They're bulky, but they don't break easily.
Texas Youth Ballet Conservatory thanks I might get some
Bobby pins won't even go through my hair
혼자서는 못할것처럼 보이네요 ㅠㅠ Esther 보다는 숱이 적지만...ㅠㅠ
