I only feed NorthFin for dry food! No nasty preservatives or fillers. The food also doesn’t swell up much at all; if at all. Aside from that I feed frozen bloodworms, krill, salmon, tilapia, shrimp, and occasionally zucchini.👌
Great vid bud, love the channel, I feed a buffet to mine lol, northfin, extreme, pe energetics, sera and the frozen pe shrimp are krill. Keep ‘em coming
CC, Great video and I love how you mix the food and really care about those fish. The northfin food is great food. I feed a combo of Extreme and Omega one fish foods. I feed cichlid flakes to my CA / SA fish and than I feed them a mixture of cichlid pellets from omega one and Extreme. My two Severums are slow eaters and don’t really like the sinking pellets. They sink to fast so I feed them hikari floating cichlid gold pellets. Since Severums need more of a vegetable diet than more protein. The two Severums a turquoise and a gold spotted are growing like little weeds. Very personable also. I recommend a Severums for your tank if you don’t have one already. They will almost eat out of your hand and look at you with there little eyes. lol. My chocolate cichlid used to do the same thing swim on an angle all the time. Once they get bigger it should change. Mine doesn’t do it anymore. She actually will eat the pellets at the top or go for the pellets at the bottom. It all depends how she feels. But I love her and how she changes colors all the time. I named her Hershey before I knew she was a girl. lol. I might need a new name. 😂. My green terror was the more timid of the CA / SA cichlids. He would let food go right past him. He’s lazy and wants the food to come to him so he stays at the bottom. When I feed I have to feed both sides of the tank to spread the food around so it can be dispersed for all to eat. I also have some catfish at the bottom that they get all the leftover pellets and flakes that the fish don’t eat. Not sure if you have any catfish in the bottom of your tanks. I recommend some they are great cleanup crews and cute. Appreciate the video and dang I wish I lived near North Dakota. I would take the angels off your hands. lol. Although I haven’t had much luck with younger angels staying alive for some reason. All my fish are fine but there have been certain breeds of fish I haven’t been able to keep alive and it’s frustrating when they die. Makes you wonder what you did. I tried German blue rams. They died. I tried Angels and they died. Among a few other species that I wouldn’t waste money on it seems. My nano fish also get extreme nano pellets and omega one flakes. All the fish eat well. IMO.
You really know your stuff. I mean I already knew you did, but it’s great hearing you talk about your experience. My severum is a mouth brooding severum. It’s a very reluctant eater. Maybe I’ll try some flakes. I don’t have any catfish, because I want to get geos, and I don’t want them to compete for leftovers. But you’re right - they are cute.
Great channel, I'm deciding what to put in my new 125 gallon, Mbruno cichlids or Electric Blue Acara. I'm going to try and binge watch all your videos. Thanks for the channel.
You absolutely can freeze your dry food. What is very important by doing this, is to make sure it has already room temperature BEFORE you open it to avoid condensation!😊

Extreme Big Fella, Omega Cichlid pellete, bug bites, and NLS extreme red and veggie pellets are my go-to. Omega is so underrated. I do not premix, but rather I change what I feed every day
My sharks don’t go at eachother, but they will freak out and take off like a missile into the glass wall or any decoration in the tank and that’s where they often will get hurt and leave scratches and even gouges out. The best way to feed them is dipping my entire arm let them explore my arm and hand and slowly, slower than paint drying open my hand revealing the food and they will even out of my hand… also they’re catfish with a bad name because of fin lol 😂, bala or tri colour same thing despite that’s it’s a barb… lol. Personally if I could have a 12 x 6 x 6 tank I’d keep them but ENOUGH about me lol. I love your set ups and especially how all your fish are great looking. I honestly have too many tanks to be too specific about feeding other than morning and evening other than my Jewel cichlid fry, which if I skip any meals the smallest one will get eaten… that tank gets fed basically every time I walk by.
I always love your comments 🥰. So funny about your sharks. Thank you about my fish - I’m really happy with most of them. My last panda uarus didn’t do too well, but I ordered two more from Houston Aqua, and they look much better so far. Thanks again!
I have a situation similar to yours. I have to feed herbivore flakes and pellets for one tropheus that I have in my 150. But I also have mbuna in there as well as peacocks and haps, OB’s. Three days out of the week the morning feedings will consist of food for herbivores. The remainder of the feedings will be a high protein pellet. Every one seems to be thriving so far.
Since my fishes are not very big i only feed them once a day with some generic food, a tablet specific for cories, and a tablet for plecos, during the weekend i feed them a specific food made for cichlids
I still have some 1mm NF veggie pellets that i feed my bottom dwellers, but NF isn't officially supplied in the UK, and the one independent has stopped supplying. Also fed Kelp wafers, but my supply has been exhausted. NF need to set up a UK distributor as I'm sure they would sell well here.
My Mbuna dont retreat to their lil caves until the lights go down. Even when I turn on the kitchen lights a couple lil nut jobs look to see whats up. Mainly my Bumblebee and my red zebra ob. lol
Hi mate, I feed pre soaked north fin consisting of 6mm jumbo, 3mm cichlid community 3mm krill pro 3mm veggie all mixed together . One teaspoon per day with one day no food to clean out. Have noticed a big difference to fish since pre soaking pellets as bloating has been a problem. My African cichlids range from 3inch to 12inch most of them are 5-7inch . I have 2 clown loaches with one of these being 7inch long and both love north fin including 4 synodontis petricola catfish 4-5 inch . Song by Gorillaz

Thank you. You know I am not sure what the real type of wood would be if you’re talking about the 180 with the vertical logs. Actually, I would t even know if you were talking about any of my fake wood lol
I have four synodontis catfish in my all male mbuna tank. The only change that I have made to my feeding routine is adding a couple of veggie wafers. They will eat almost anything.
They like a lot of protein. I feed mine cichlid pellets and try to give them some raw shrimp once per week and a veggie day with some blanched zucchini.
