    Thanks for this video, Shane. I have two 1000 shot Model 27’s that needed their leather seals replaced. Was hesitant to disassemble them. With your guidance I was able to replace the leather seals on both today…they are now very hard shooting old guns!

      Jim, glad to be of assistance! What kind of speed are you getting with new the leather seals? I've been messing with sliding spring blocks off and on for the last two years and just can't get happy with the results.

    That's good to know about the shot tubes being interchangeable......I'll have to pick up a few.👍

      If you have a shot tube similar to the one in the video, take really good care of it. They are quite rare. As far as subbing another shot tube on the model 27's, the current production Model 25 shot tube works well but the regular "Rattle Trap" 1000 round shot tubes will bind on the front sight blade.

    first time seeing any videos. What do you know about the King Model 2136? Got any videos on them? Not finding a specific video.

      Only what I've seen on the internet. Have yet to work on one. They look quite a bit like the Daisy Model 101/102 which I understand was influenced by Kings design. Daisy did buy the Markam King company in 1931 and were involved with it starting in 1912. Sort of kissing cousins, I suspect that the internals for the King and the Daisy will swap.

      @@RestOModDaisy I found your 101 Model 36 videos. I would venture to guess that if they aren't the same, hey are extremely close in design. I'm hoping to find some how to videos in your playlist for restoring the compression cup. I found a few, but haven't gotten into them yet. I managed to learn that this is a pre-war "small screw" model, which makes sense because I think Markam/King closed down around 1940, according to Google anyway.

      Actually, I didn't find one yet, is there a trick to removing the main spring retainer without that tool?

    • @RestOModDaisy
      @RestOModDaisy  3 месяца назад +1

      @@justaguywhocares4478 You can horse them out with a pair of vice grips but since you will need to re-install the spring anchor once you're done with whatever mods you plan you'll still need some sort of mainspring compressor to get it back together. There is a pretty good compessor on Ebay, I've got both sizes they offer but I still make and use compressors in house. Check out this video on the topic

      @@justaguywhocares4478 If you're looking at Daisy's of that vintage they will normally be equipped with a leather compression "cup" as well as a leather abutment washer. You can source both items off Ebay for replacement. If the gun is in OK shape it's possible to rejuvenate the existing leather seals by removing them and putting them in a small container of non-detergent 30 weight motor oil for a few days. Most of the time you will be able to remove the compression cup intact and do that process. The leather abutment washers are much more difficult, especially if the gun has been stored "dry" for a lengthy period of time. If they leather is so dry that it crumbles, the seals are toast.

    Great explanation of the lead vs steel BB shot tubes. Nice and thorough explanation of the rest of the gun too. I'm kinda glad Daisy used the current (or sort of current) design after that. I haven't found too many of those 27s around. Good job.

      Thanks Russ! I liked your trigger video on the 70th aniversary RR, although I would have just deleted the beartrap on it. Does that vintage have the seamed shot tube? looks like a good candidate for modding.

    • @daisylevergunfun4786
      @daisylevergunfun4786 2 года назад

      I haven't removed the shot tube so I can't say about the seam. I could have cut off the anti beartrap but wanted to make it work as original, at least for now. So far the votes for keeping it original are even with modding it. I think my misses will be the tie breaker. Lol

    Love the video, I’ve got a model 27 500 shot rifle. Is there any chance I can get this old gal to shoot steel shot? I think the current production model 25 barrel will be too long

    • @RestOModDaisy
      @RestOModDaisy  Год назад

      The good news is that the current production Model 25 50 round spring loaded shot tube easily interfaces with the Model 27 500 shot or 1000 shot versions. No mods are needed, just swap the lead shot tube out for the more modern version and you'll be flinging steel BB's in no time. The bad news is that you'll be limited to 50 rounds vs 500 or 1000.

    Your sliding blocks are removable via the outer sleeve, but this one looks captive, is this the case, or did Daisy make a way to remove it ? (just curious, will probably never see one).

    • @RestOModDaisy
      @RestOModDaisy  2 года назад

      I'm thinking they installed the SSB prior to attaching the rear plate on the plunger assembly at the factory. You can get one of the originals off but you 'll do some serious bending on the plunger legs to make that happen and then you'll need some percussive maintenance on those same legs once you re-install it. I don't think I'd do that more than once.

      @@RestOModDaisy I have a Modem 27 I am trying to bring back to life. The rear plate on the plunger is missing altogether but everything else is still there. I was eyeing buying a new plunger and trying it but the percussion part scares me a little.... I love your sliding spring block tinker and the sleeve to solve the issue. Genius. I will have to consider my tinker skills.

    • @RestOModDaisy
      @RestOModDaisy  9 месяцев назад

      @@nightfrailer Congrats on having a Model 27! I do think that Daisy installed the original SSB's before attaching the back plate at the factory but do not know for certain. My reasoning for this is that to remove or install one on the correct factory plunger you have to bend the plunger legs open to accept the tabs on the orginal SSB's and then bend them back. I can't see that as an acceptable factory process. It might be easier to fab up a new back plate for the old girl as you'll need a 90 degree backplate for the trigger to engage, the current production plungers will not work in your Mode 27.

    Have you ever adapted the s.s.b. to a wide-body (like a 96 specifically) ?
