I took a year of Greek with Dan Pecota in Kirkland WA in 1975. I’m 71 now and wishing to get back into it. We used Machen and I have a few other greek grammars but I ordered Beginning NT Greek as you recommended. Thanks.
Thanks for mentioning Bruce Gore's Greek class. That was my introduction to Greek, and it gave me an excellent foundation. He includes an answer key for Machen's exercises so the student is not left hanging. Not many professors use Machen anymore, but he can't be beat for "thorough and concise". I agree with you that M & P's grammar is probably better for self-teaching.
Great reviews. I studied Mounce in seminary and am so glad I did. I appreciate how he presents the material. The Machen text has been on my shelf for years and as you said it is not conducive for self study. Thanks for mentioning the Gore resource.
At the end of my year of Greek the Prof showed us a poster of all the paradigms Machen had taken us thru. Mind boggling!

@@alexandersmith9385 Definitely check out Bruce Gore's channel! He does a lot of Bible teaching too and it's all excellent!
On RUclips here we have the: Daily Dose of Greek_ Rob Plummer. He does a good job.
@@mrtdiver he is excellent! I love his grammars!
Thanks for this channel, bro!
@@kamalkhalil9090 you're welcome! I'm glad you like it.
You have some oldies in there! There has been recent research and improvements in linguistics with Koine which kinda makes Machen outdated…
@@elliottfaure1226 I definitely agree.
