Sometimes. C64 still surprises me. This definitely one of the better demo's out there. Fast paced animation, uplifting soundtrack and nice GFX art.
Actually, it is the programmer who surprises you. The C64 is... just a C64😉

This is world class top notch! One great thing about Samar is the distinct style - you can tell it’s them even without text or logo clues.
I appreciate it when top groups release major prods like this on a smaller party, and not save it for big ones like X or Revision. It helps keeping the scene boiling.
Imagine watching this while tripping on shrooms.... lol Actually without it still looks trippy.
In my opinion, this demo was rightfully awarded first place at the party 👍

Excellent demo. The music in particular is among the best I've ever heard on a C64.
I still have my C64 stored in mint condition with original packaging but man did I use it back in the days :D Best computer ever.
Perfect psy-themed demo. The music sounds like Juno Reactor / Infected Mushroom etc - you can play it in some club and they won't notice it.
Some of the the effects are jaw-dropping.

I had a C-64 in the 80ies ... and I have watched some "demos" the last weeks on RUclips. Most of those mainly consist of scrolling text in any manner ... but I always sit before the screen and think: "when do the real graphical effects appear? It's a demo, so I want to see such things...."
This demo deserves the name "demo"!

This demo is simply one of the best. On my C64 with Pi1541 the demo works almost to the end. I do not get the jack nicholson "The Shining" is in the cube. There it is black. Thanks for great demo :)

Really appreciate it given how much time and effort I’ve spend coding this demo (I’ve wrote 80% of the code).
But this demo would not be possible without commitment from the rest of the Samar Crew (thanks guys)
Most of the effects here has been developed over a period of 2.5 years, and polishing + linking the whole demo took around 2 months.
But I had a lot of fun anyway!

Beautiful video! At the minut 2:00 nice amanita pantherina.
Zwykła komoda ma tylko trzy kanały dźwięku, nie? Jak tam się mieszczą te wszystkie rzeczy, w dodatku jakieś delaye nawet słychać. Do tego acidowe linie basu ryją czako, brzmią kompletnie rodem z filtrowanego analoga.
Tak, muzyka jest zrobiona na 3 kanałach SID'a :)

Is this on a stock c64? No ram expansion, no super cpu? Just want to know… it’s really fantastic either way.
Yes. All effects run on stock c64. Cubes in Cube effect is actually utilising so called DriveCalc so all Math calcs (point rotations, perspective and face visibility tests) are performed in 1541-II drive (which has just 2KB of RAM :)), and then that data is transmitted to C64 at every frame and C64 CPU is only focused on performing rasterisation.
@ZacZepperify No, nothing special is required. Just C64 and 1541 drive.
You can't really comprehend the beauty and perfection of this demo until you're older than 45 and the C64 was your best friend from a young age. Truly fantastic and outstanding!

Nope, our groupmate loves Amanita ;) Also we love Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen etc.

I always thought, that the flickering graphics are made to look better on CRT TV Screen. But who watches nowerday on a CRT screen? On my monitor the graphic is just annoying flickering...

Sure, yes :)
Czy jest tu autor tej prezentacji? Widać że to doświadczony zawodnik. Sezon w pełni, można by powymieniać się doświadczeniami z podróży, przygotowań, wyjścia...
Główny autor kodu (rzeczywiście niezły zawodnik) odszedł z Demosceny, reszta grupy jak najbardziej dostępna. Co masz konkretnie na myśli?
