  • Let's start by taking off the front wheel, unscrewing the front brake and loosening the two pinch bolts on either side of the headtube. Now taking off the top cover we can take off the stem and remove my old fork.
After I was done putting the crown race on my new air fork it was time to cut it to size using a pipe cutter. Then I precisely installed the star nut using a hammer and an old bolt. I put everything back together and at this point nothing could go wrong. Well turns out something could go wrong i accidentally cut the steerer tube to long “luckily it wasn't too short” so i had to remove the fork hammer the star nut down and cut the steerer tube to size. Reinstall the air fork and set everything back up repeating the process of installing it backwards if that makes any sense.

I love that you pulled out your Leatherman to file the tube down. 😁

Sounds like a well needed upgrade. Was it nerve racking cutting that piece off considering it was a 70 dollar part?

Not at all. Most "good" bike parts cost at least more than 200$ and I have done the process of installing a fork before.

Hey man, I'm super impressed by your video quality. It's kind of like watching a berm peak video from back in the day.
Anyway, I wanted to tell you that maxxlight isn't a mainstream company and the fork is a clear rip-off of a Manitou fork. I'm telling you this because these knock-off forks tend to break/snap in a short time with moderate use. Unlike Suntour forks, which are built to last, forks like these cannot take the same abuse. Take care bro.

Ya, thank you for letting me know. I already new about the consequences but it is a risk I am wiling to take. I had to replace my fork because the old one had a striped bolt so I had no chose. Thanks again man, I appreciate you watching out for me.
