I have never seen this side of Ben Kingsley before and quite frankly I was gutted, I am a big fan of his but wouldn't have liked it if he had of treated me with arrogance, I know this young lady was a bit giggly but being a presenter isn't easy its hard work, especially if you are new to it there's a lot of preparation that goes into presenting trust me, she must have felt dreadful underneath it all, why did he treat her like it
Yes, how dare he be human.
Your comment is itself insulting and extremely overboard given the situation in the video clip. This is the first time I've ever seen him actually making fun of the interviewer, and he does it without being too rude. She's a dingbat, her questions are inane, and he can't help responding with some mockery. She is so obnoxiously silly and brainless that he can't help himself. He goes off a bit on her, yes, and I think he just couldn't handle the shallowness and unprofessional manner of this young airhead interviewer. She never should have been thrown into this task.
It's not clear from this video why Ben Kingsley was annoyed. Maybe the interviewer was late. But if the reason is because of her "unprofessional" attitude, then his behavior was uncalled for. These types of interviews are for entertainment purposes, so a bit of silliness should be expected. She's not interviewing a politician; she's interviewing a guy who played a mummy in a fantasy movie. His condescending and arrogant attitude is pretty sickening. I don't care if he's used to interviewers being more serious. She didn't say anything offensive to him. She seemed nervous which probably made her act a little silly. I think she was very aware of his insults and her laughter was probably a way of dealing with it. I don't think his insulting jokes flew over her head at all. She dealt with it pretty well. I like Ben Kingsley but his superior attitude here is vomit-inducing. I hope he apologized to her.
I love your comments, I just can’t abide people who belittle anyone who they feel
Superior too. Even if he was offended that he thought she might have been on drugs it would have been far more professional of him to do the interview by ‘acting’ like a professional then confronting her off screen and never doing an interview with her or the company she represented again. Some people think they are so above everyone else. He’s just an actor who gets paid well for his job and doesn’t command any more respect than any other person who works!!!! So self entitled, at least people can see he’s not that nice a person, just like most of us.
Im pretty sure it was cause she was high off something

I think you're too extreme in condemning Kingsley and way too forgiving of the goof interviewer. She's a ditz coated with sugar. It's not clear what else might have set off Kingsley, but I do agree that he's unrelenting in his mockery of her. It's insulting to have someone as silly and unprofessional as this woman trying awkwardly to ask questions that are juvenile. But yes, Kingsley could have played off of that without being so insulting to her, even if she does deserve it.
She wasn't rude or disrespectful to him. In fact I thought she was really nice compared to other journalistst. She was just awkward and ditzy... maybe she was really nervous - I don't know. But HE is a massive prick. He's older than her and as the star being interviewed obviously in an elevated position here. It's funny how he mentions Charlie Chaplin when I remember Chaplin saying in his famous speech in 'the great dictator': "Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind...More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost...."
Daniela A. If only she recited that to him! Hehe would have made him pale in the face.
D A. I guess I will have to be the one to break the news to you here. You might not have picked up on this yet, but some people in life have higher IQ’s for different areas. The obvious one is academic for memorization etc... Another is Social IQ which is a complex ability to teach someone to be great at, but essentially people with high IQ in this area have remarkable ability to not only listen to conversations and participate in them, but they are also having a visual conversation with a persons body language while it pairs with their speech. Don’t try to think you know how to, bc you don’t. Nerves cause a similar weirdness to a person’s behavior but this girl did several things at the start signal some type of substance influence. The immediate way she lied to him as she tried to “set the tone” for her wild behavior, then as he pressed that lie on her she continued to laugh (that actually was back to nerves lol, she just got called out and didn’t know what to do so she stalled with the laugh) then as he pressed harder about her being on drugs her tone changes to tell the truth with the comment her dad doesn’t notice etc I mean I could go on but it’s pointless because emotional reactions like yours to anything never bases itself in logic and reason, but instead follows an emotional position that is deeply rooted in our primitive brain functions so essentially you are a caveman or woman. ✌🏼👺
@@Dannyboyy86 absolutely! He was incredibly rude, I know those press things are like a conveyor belt but it's him that's selling something jeez!
Poor emotional intelligence from a bizarre grandiose human.
A very beautiful quote!
She is absolutely adorable. Her father should be proud of her.
Maybe if her father is a brick, he will be.
No she isn’t
She's a dingbat, a noxious airhead asking inane questions of Kingsley. She has no business doing an interview like this.
Do you head her fan club? Get a clue. She's a ditz coated with sugar.
You're joking right? The whole thing is a persona because she's inexperienced.
I think she was clearly nervous and covering it with nonsense - perfectly reasonable in my view especially when faced with an oscar winning leviathan like Kingsley. I think he could have made her feel a little more comfortable but all respect to Poppy for pulling it together and asking the questions. I think she did pretty well under the circumstances. Esepcially the way she said '...well you've been fabulous...' - she used the absolutely perfect amount of irony to let him know that his aloofness wasn't lost on her.
I think, most likely, everything is lost on her. I love how he slaughtered her. That's what happens when a highly intelligent man such as Ben Kingsley is challenged by an airheaded woman with an IQ below room temperature.
To say it in short terms, he's a d******d
He thought Rebel Wilson was a man. Clearly didn't even meet the rest of the cast.
I cracked up when he said "but he isn't is he?!?!" With such confidence
Well, If the purpose of an interview was to discover something new or reveal something not widely known about the interviewee she certainly succeeded! This really put me off Ben Kingsley as an actor. What a way to behave! Good on her for taking it all on the chin and keeping going to the end.
He's a pro and handled it beautifully.
Heavens! He reacted with a dose of mockery to an airhead of a young woman who set him off with her silliness and lack of professionalism.
Kingsley was being a bully here. The girl was clearly a rookie and extremely nervous. He is paid millions for faking it, I am sure he could have done it here and played along.
really? She acted like a drug addict. He just wanted a piece of the brownie but they ate it without him. No wonder he is sore
...well, that was uncomfortable...
really? She acted like a drug addict. He just wanted a piece of the brownie but they ate it without him. No wonder he is sore
Christ, what a vile human being he is.
Huh??! How do you come to that ridiculous conclusion? He's a smart, thoughtful, sincere and charming guy. This is the first time I've ever seen him actually making fun of the interviewer, and he does it without being too rude. She's a dingbat, her questions are inane, and he can't help responding with some mockery. She is so obnoxiously silly and brainless that he can't help himself.
He was Don Logan after all lol.
Heyzoos, what an extremist overreaction.
@@surfwriter8461 Certainly was. Don't why he was in such an mood. He must have thought he was Don Logan again lol.
@@funkriderx-djandproducer I meant the OP was extremist, not so much Ben Kingsley. But if he had gone into full Don Logan mode, that would have been really entertaining with that ditzy interview gal turning to mush with fear.
" i dont watch tv cause i have better things to do than to watch televesion"
Wow why do you want us to watch your films then? We got better things to do ...
+lulwaaz So do 'em then. He ain't forcing you.
lulwazz So true....
Because he clearly looks down on his audience. He's arrogant af.
What a prick. She's young and clearly tried her best, he just came across as a bitter old man.

@@flysign6497You’re weird
She was actually really sweet and new to her trade. Perhaps a few too many espresso, but why be rude to her?
Because he’s a PROFESSIONAL
I thought she was rude to him. She needed to focus on her job. Actors do a whole day of interviews one right after another whe. they promote films; she needed to focus and use her time with him wisely.
Because her pupils are the size of the moon
Neither of them were rude
obviously you haven't watched any of ben kingsley interviews before..
this is his personality with all the people around him.. he was kidding with her...
And the girl is a spontenous and adorable and telling him about her life is very fun and special. Actors are humans too and doesn't like to act in a formal way all the time...
In a nutshell:
STOP JUDGING THEM FOR BEING THEMSELVES
@@lovikkyio7868 This!
what a rude arrogant man .
It’s hard to figure out if he is joking or being serious
I saw this interview a long time ago and strangely enough, I've never been able to sit through anything Ben Kingsly's been in since - someone in his profession should be encouraging, not belittling - what a pompous creep!
He probably gives a duck what you caring about
What's funny is she made him look like the idiot, she's great in my opinion.
He made himself look like the idiot.
her made her look like a drug addict what she might be. Whats wrong with her laugh and especially eyes all the time. i want same cookie
'Well I might if Rebel Wilson was on my team'
'But he's not in your team'
*awkward*
Okay I came to the comments to see if anyone else caught this!! I was like, uhhhhm...... He??? Duuuuude
He's about as funny as toothache. Good thing he can act as he clearly would not make it as a writer - not an original thought in his OVERSIZED head.
When he started plugging gear and attempting to get free stuff, he was acting exactly like he did in the Sopranos.
Polly Jamie was young, charming and exuberant. Sir Ben Kingsley did himself no favours in this interview. He came across as being unfriendly and boorish. Poppy was probably nervous interviewing such an iconic actor, which would account for her frequent laughter. This was not unpleasant, but the actor's inability to smile pleasantly at any point during the interview will not have impressed the many film- and theatre goers who have seen the interview. The dinner party question was a good one and often gets revealing answers, as it did in this case. The actor's choice of Charlie Chaplin was interesting and unexpected. This interview has truly uncomfortable and leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.
Yes, he was condescending and sneering. I think she was good at handling him though, not a total victim at all.
mistressheavenly99 i agree i think he became increasingly irritated because she wasn't humiliated and remained bubbly and pleasant throughout.
he could have been a little more gracious
That's sort of true. But something about her dingbat patter obviously made him go off with mockery of her. I think there was something leading up to this that don't see that must have also made Kingsley irritated, like she showed up late after keeping him waiting and then acted like an airhead clown.
Maybe a good actor, but what an absolute horrible personality.
I've stopped watching his movies since seeing this. Rude, obnoxious and hugely disappointing, there are better people in this world to be entertained by.
same. found it somewhat funny when I first watched it a couple of years ago. Now I just find it cruel & unnecessary.
Same here. He makes my skin crawl. Who does he think he is?
He's an asehole!
A lot of actors are. Just think of them as actors
@@cov9290 actor, singer, shop assistant, politician, family member. No career/life position provides an excuse.
I'll continue to think of him as an asehole thanks.
He was being a total and utter spiteful person end of
notice how these awkward interviews only happen when actors are promoting bad movies?
no hes just very unpleasant, older and pretentious
@@MrSpookyLover polanski supporter
great point. !
...what a shock to realise Kingsley could be so 'ungracious' with clearly a younger inexperienced person trying to learn her trade!
this is a perfect statement
she is on drugs, come over it. Look at her eyes. 100 percent drugs, i am police officer from france
Just remember that an Oscar winner was in the Thunderbirds remake.
He has a lack of class. Full of it.
Very uncool and unfair of him him to treat that young presenter like that just because she was bubbly and full of life.
this comes from another drug addict probably
As an actor. If you are titled you never ever use it in your billing in the profession. Kingsley insists on being called and billed as Sir Ben. Bad form. Lacking real humility and true class. Dame Maggie Smith refers to him as Sir King Bensley. He was so unconscionably rude and bullying here. A small man.
Pretentious old queen isn't he. I liked her
Ouch, painful.
Why was he acting all high and mighty he was a side character in Night at the Museum 3 it’s not exactly high art 😂
Did Ben refer to Rebel Wilson as “he”?
For one second I thought his favorite dish is his wife lol
So he wasn’t actually acting when he played himself in the sopranos
Obviously not but tbf Chris was being annoying
No wonder Maggie Smith refers to him as "Sir King Bensley"...
He has a wfie?
Bizarrely Grandiose Human
It’s funny how she has the same emotion through the whole thing 😂😂
drug addicts normally do
@@flysign6497You’re weird
The video description tho.... :D))
Did anyone else notice he referred to Rebel Wilson as he?? Twice?
He is just being a snobby yuppie
He looked down his big nose at her.
Surely something happened before the interview, he cant be this mean for no reason
Shes a dimwit and hes an intellectual artist. What else?

Nevermind Poppy I thought you were very professional unlike Mr Kingsley. Shame on him.
Waw...I had no idea he was so incredibly sarcastic and rude.
2 minutes of research would have told you all you need to know, Google's your friend!
really? She acted like a drug addict. He just wanted a piece of the brownie but they ate it without him. No wonder he is sore
Nobody knows the context behind this, but everyone is judging him real quick.
He just doesn't give a 💩 about the film he's promoting.
She’s hyper like all these interviewers.
It's funny how actors are the only profession that scold you if they feel you're being unprofessional...well that...and people who are courtroom judges and policemen
Just a hint of Don Logan !
Why agree To an interview, and then duck said interview
Get over yourself Ben.
Some of these 'stars' are too arrogant, we all serve each other, calm down ffs.
Poppy is absolutely adorable while Kingsley came across as an ill-mannered twit.
I love this girl she is fantastic
She was behaving like an over excited fan, however, rudeness and trying to belittle someone is just not acceptable behaviour, just for future Ben, your behaviour came across as misogynistic bullying, who the hell does he think he is?
He knows interviewers have to blow smoke up his arse to keep their jobs and he completely abused the situation and her as far as I'm concerned, "Banker"! Oh sorry that was a misspell
What a horrible man
Snobby guy with a nose longer than this clip.
She was actually a good interviewer, using his answers as launching points for the next question.
that awkward hand at 1:14
Having over a decade of field experience, I would've drawn the same conclusion. However, after about 1 minute she brings up some relevant topics in a way that makes it seem like she's not "all over the place" mentally. I guess that's just her act when the cameras roll.
From his other interviews, you can see that he's a great conversationalist, very engaged with whomever he's talking to, and loves exploring questions in depth. I can easily imagine that "do you prefer pizza or lasagna?" type of questions annoy him because they're a missed opportunity and quite pointless. That being said, there's no justification for taking that annoyance out on the interviewer who was being respectful and nice. And it does come across as ego: not being treated like an ImPorTanT tHeSPiaN must have ticked him off. So ironic because just prior to this I watched another interview with him on Skavlan, where he's talking about ego death.
She was interviewing Don Logan lol. No wonder the interview went so bad lol.
Maybe he was having a bad day, but wow…Ben Kingsley is extremely condescending and arrogant. Why do people like him act like that? She’s obviously nervous, but she’s just doing her job that she’s passionate about. Does he feel good about himself by going out of his way to make the interview difficult? Anyways, props to the interviewer. She took the situation with class
0:12 hahahah his face watching her laught hahahaha.
"crumbs across claridges", classic.
What a prat
he shouldn't have been so rude to her... but tbh i don't care too much for this old man, and he's not a sir imo he's a prat:)
I doubt this legendary Oscar winning actor worth millions really gives a damn that you don't care for him.
It doesn't actually matter what is wrong with her or if that's just her personality Ben Kingsley despite his education was an absolute embarrassment. Actors don't save lives they borrow them and in Kingsleys case he should send it back. What an obnoxious burden on your time.
He's a very awkward man. She did brilliantly to get anything out of him.
That was cringeworthy
To be honest he was only doing an interview for night at the museum, no need to be Mr serious actor.
Ghastly behaviour. He’s no gentleman
Wow
He was being difficult an a bit disrespectful in my opinion
What a great actor, he is clearly nothing like Gandhi in real life
really? She acted like a drug addict. He just wanted a piece of the brownie but they ate it without him. No wonder he is sore
@@flysign6497 😂😂😂👍
@@flysign6497You’re weird
Spielberg made Ben Kingsley into what he is. (Gandhi was a grossly overrated film). Otherwise, this great actor has been in movies like Species and Iron Man 3.
ok she was a little OTT and a bit weird, but he was rude. No call for it! he started off his career at one point!!!
Madre mía! Well she was over-bubbly and dense but his strained responses were no more profound that her stupid questions. I say they both won the race to the bottom. And c’mon, anyone talking about seriousness being a requirement… it’s a promo for a really silly film franchise. 😂
It was embarrassing ! XD
Typical of what is on the air waves these days. Indeed a sad state of affairs.
Just typical British humor
Good actor.... a horrible man.
Was she actually on drugs though?
Yep. Meow meow.
F**king need em to invertiew him.
He was so rude!!!
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh , his accent is sooooo good
I don’t comment often but I worked as a production assistant on a 1994 movie shot in Paris that SIr Ben Kingsley acted in called Death and the Maiden. I also have worked in the publicity side of movie business since so know what goes on during these “press junkets”. On Death and the Maiden, I found Ben to be one of the friendliest person on set. No matter if they were production assistants (who are treated like dirt by some) or producer, he stuck out his hand and said “Hi I’m Ben, what’s your name?” Highly unusual from actors! That’s why I’m also surprised by the rumor that he makes ppl call him “Sir”. But can’t comment on that. I can say that he has the British wit, the dry sarcasm. I’m English and it’s just our way and his style of humor is the style above. I’m not saying that he doesn’t get frustrated in this interview. Just know that actors sit in a room for hours under bright lights while journalists are herded in for 5 mins each, mostly same questions. No fun for either side especially if you’re the fiftieth interview - the smallest outlets go last. Yes, actors must know it’s part of the job they have and fabulous lifestyle they lead - I’m with you there. But firstly, who knows what happened before this interview - possibly he encountered someone disrespectful and he’s trying to recover from it with humor. And secondly, humans are human and can’t be grateful every second, we slip. I’m just saying in my knowledge of the actor during a 3 month movie shoot, being cruel or belittling someone for no reason was not in his character. A deep thinker yes, with shovels of sarcasm.
He wasn't a knight in 1994
really? She acted like a drug addict. He just wanted a piece of the brownie but they ate it without him. No wonder he is sore
What a car crash... I guess that's what you get for not researching your questions properly
maybe he should be on drugs
I couldn't tell you one movie, or great character this weirdo played
UM HELLO? DON LOGAN, YOU'RE MR ROUNTREE VA. HOSS, YOU ARE YOU'RE MR ROUNTREE!
Isn't she lovely so sweet in her lovely white dress so happy such a cute lady
Poppy you're lovely 🌹
Ben Kingsley is rude to this lovely lady how horrible he is being to her
Wasn’t that bad! So she had a few giggles at the start and throughout the interview so what! Did you all watch to the end? That means you where interested to find out how it’s going to end like a good movie! He was okay too just being honest with playful banter and sarcasm. Seems like the people saying nasty things about the interviewer and the actor are really the nasty ones.
Lol she trolled him hard
Just. Awful. Omg!!! Shameful
What's her name in think she is cute.
Poppy jamie
The first time I watched this, I cringed internally due to how short he was being with the interviewer. However, after watching it some more, I think he seemed to be in a bad mood. She may have been late or he just didn't like her laughing so much, but she was a good sport and either didn't notice or brushed it off and carried on with the interview. He does answer all her questions and apart from the _drugs_ jab, he isn't entirely rude to her.
I'm not too sure if Mr Kingsley's personality is something you'd have to grow accustomed to, or if he was just having a bad day? It's not up to us to get to know the private lives of actresses and actors.
I really liked the interviewer's bubbly nature though!
