Ill now be on the lookout for white snowboard pants. Thanks!!!!
This channel has the most practical snowboard advice on a regular basis. That raynaud's PSA was the truth!
Yea, and the best part is, there is not a single marketing bullshit pep talk stuff! Just straigh to the point. That's refreshing.
Yep, ask for slim in live streams xD
God damn Slimothy Whitman!
When I was a beginner, I used to tighten my boots so much that I’d cut off the circulation a bit… so my feet were cold.
Avran, you’re crushing it, per usual. All sound advice. I also toiled in the ski-boot fitting world as “the snowboard guy” in a mom & pop ski shop in the 90s. Learned a TON. Usually super simple fixes are the best ones. For example, remember to CUT YOUR F*CKIN TOENAILS. Seriously. High 5 from VT🔥
Dude! Good advice!! Last year I went off a pow cliff and got an ingrown toenail. It hurt really bad for a month. It could’ve been easily avoided lol same for hiking or skateboarding and climbing! Clip that shit!!😛
Super helpful - thanks Angry
Can't tell you how many times I'm fitting someone and they want to go 2-3 sizes up on their boot because they "need that extra room for 'comfort' and 'blood flow'". Then I thoroughly explain to them that's a really bad idea and there are tons of other solutions. But because that's what they're used to they ignore me and waste their money on a boot that's way too big for them. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid, but I try.
My favorite is when they come in saying "I need an experts help" then tell you how wrong you are and that they're the expert.
@@AngrySnowboarder I had a 12 year old girl tell me the other day that wearing two pairs of socks is stupid because it reduces blood flow. So if a 50 year old who's been "doing this for longer than you've been alive" doesn't understand that, I have no hope for them. People can suck a fart box if they're not willing to listen to someone who is more informed than they are.
Great list. To your number 1 point. In my experience, a lot of this is due to much pressure on the instep cutting off circulation. Could be from boots sized too small or cranking down the heal strap on boots sized too big!
Love the skate-tech Now bindings in the front of your vids.... YES.
Best tip here? White pants. Thanks for narrowing it down.
it was this mad bastards snowboard boot fitting videos that put me onto collapsing arches and changed my life for the better, i now have custom insoles in almost everything shoe shaped these days and no loner suffer crippling foot pain every evening.... makes a huge difference on the mountain but can really be applied to daily life too.
You posted this right after i came home from freezing the shit out of my toes snowboarding🙏🏻
Nice King Missile reference
I take out my liners and insoles every time I’m done riding the past few years and it’s legit. I just put them all by the heater. And they are so warm for the morning😆
When I started working at a resort, I got my work boots wet, and the black dye stained the 2 smallest toes on my left foot. Sent photos and convinced my mum I had frostbite.
Was a good laugh.
I did finally tell her it was just dye.
Agree with all points. I find higher humidity ski resorts, your boots and feet get cold faster as heat transfers quicker. Good idea to add hand or toe warmer to boot at colder temps if so. I'm experimenting with adding a super thin compression sock underneath my snowboard socks to aid in circulation. Will see if this helps. Only tried once but seemed to help with less pressure points at end of the day.
That's how you create a pinch point by putting those things in.
Bro out here giving dr advise and dating advise in the same video…. Love it!!!
Always find a rich older Dr. to date. Free health care and you have days free to shred.
@@AngrySnowboarder Bryce Kellog
Yep, check on the arch support. Not having that has caused my feet to evert (inward) and get a bit tarsal tunnel syndrome. I thought it was frostbite until I saw the abrasion right on the heel (tarsal tunnel) and then I unknowingly did what is called a Tinel’s test (just tapping on it) and that sends shocks into the affected cold and numb area under my big toe. “Date your board, marry your boots,” right? But I do think I can get lucky with that one pair on steep discount in Singapore! Haha! Roll the bones one more time…
Nice King Missle drop!
Costco has dryers for like $30. Has the option to use heat or just air.
Great take away. Gonna talk to more ladies with white pants 😎
Hey Avran, great video and great points. My gf has Reynauds, do you have any reccomendations for brands for good heated insoles or heated socks? That would work in normal shoes/boots too.
Usually you just need to get the toes heated, not the whole foot. Some of the single use heated foot beds work well. I cut them down to just get the front 1/3rd of my foot. They are the ones they have activated charcoal but not the loose stuff.
I have blueing toes, and they get painful in cold inside in winter. I have either peripheral artery or Renault, cholesterol plaque, or something. Gotta get the doc to check it. This year better reduced cholesterol. Not overweight, but never was heavy.
Helping; Losen boa gradually until pain reduced, losen boot on breaks losen it all the way, Walk normal for a few minutes take off binding. Losen on long lifts too.
Where is a good place to get my gf a pair of white snowboard pants? 🤣
Lmao the dentist comment killed me
Um where could I find a pair of white snowboard pants?
like mentioned, socks. and not just good snowboard socks. get MERINO socks!
Thanks I’ll talk to the ones with white snowboard pants. Sounds interesting
#6 : Rolling your pants over your boots! haha
#1 reason my feet are cold. The lift is down for repairs, and I've been stuck in line for over an hour. PS don't you dare throw out that rice. That shit has been seasoned.
I ski and ride (please don't kill me) - and skiing taught me quickly that boots that are too small will 100% cause your feet to freeze every time. If you can't move your toes, you are screwed.
5:28 hahaha makes so much sense now
Raynaud's is the worst. I pretty much never wear gloves in the winter, mittens only. Thin wool socks certainly help but sometimes all you can do is stop and go warm your feet up until the circulation gets going again. My grandmother used to yell at my grandfather for keeping me out late on fishing trips in the summer when it would cool off a little and my fingers would be white like they were frostbitten. Didn't know what it was back then but no wonder he always looked so confused about how someone could look like they had frostbite in the middle of August.
My feet gets sweaty but not cold after a typical session. I wear thin not-cotton snowboard socks, I tweaked my boots to fit my feet without giving me pinch points, and I use after market insole (Remind's new Shock insoles are amazing btw). Is this an ideal expected outcome, sweaty and steaming feet but not cold?
Yes, that's mine almost every day.
I've been using these little convection puck boot heater/driers for about ten years. Never had an issue with them doing anything to the foam personally. They really only get warm enough to get the boot barely warm, not hot. They dry the boots out well within an hour though. Is there really an issue with these? They're so convenient to bring on trips and they can even be plugged in in the car.
I'm talking about the heating coil ones. Those things will fuck a liner up.
Any advice for boot fitting/ boot or binding needs for someone with Raynauds? ..... My feet randomly fall asleep or hurt while riding, however, I have very good cold-weather gear, boots, layers, and almost always run TOO hot ... So I started to loosen my boots, or not to ratchet down my bindings as tight .....The only add-ons or changes I can think of are: custom insoles (have after market one; flat-footed), aftermarket, or added support to the liners, changing from a large burton binding to a medium (size 10.5 book); and better compression sock (instead of my Under Armours and Bambas) ...... My doctor now thinks I have Raynauds (never cold on the mountain or during exercise but all the signs are there) ...... Any advice would be great considering most of the articles say to use hand/ feet warmers which I feel would cause me to overheat more than I do already ...... THANK YOU so much for this video, you saved me! .... This video is the only reason I spoke with my doctor about circulation issues.
So you have the reverse effect where you're too warm?
Not sure if thats the issue but you raise a great point ....... So I'm usually too hot when temp are above freezing but I do owned quality bases, mids, jackets, balaclavas, gloves, etc (ice coast mind you)....... When I'm really active or the temp is above 38ish, I usually need to: excessively vent (helmet, pants and jacket)/ remove gloves, and/ or switch to a lighter jacket/ sweatshirt ........ Usually my hands will then start having a Raynauds style-issue and hurt so for next season I will try mittens with liners so I can lose some heat without being 100% exposed ........ I feel like my feet dont get cold in my boots but I have been getting the numbing response so wouldn't mind experimenting with warmers in my boots and less layers on top to offset the above ........also got a camelbak for this season as I read hydration is extra important for this issue
I am Asian. I was told to not waste rice!!!

@@ChikenShitOutfit or I could've conversed with a skier. Education vs brain cell death.
Smart choice.
So Adrian large femur I broke my wrist bc I suck at riding park... can I blame the resort for setting up their park crappy or should I just get better at riding ???
Sounds like someone doesn't know how to take responsibility for their choices.
Minus 20 F always does it for me
I wear dress socks. They give me more room in my boots which I need, and they cause my feet to sweat less
I was just riding in -10C and thought man whyre my feet so cold
Any recommendations on aftermarket insoles?
Remind or Shred Soles.
Did Adidas steal there boot design from someone when the got started? I found them to be fit well, and would like to look into something similar.
They hired that incompetent boot designer from DC that made pigeon toed pieces of crap.
forced air blasters are awesome!!
Sir - should I size two sizes down like the top pro snowboarder, Johnathan Buckhouse, says to do?
If dudes going to downsize anything it should be his meal portions not his boots.
What a jackass!! How lose are his street shoes? 😂 no bro, I’m a size 10
NO WAY did you just refer to one of the best songs ever by King Missile. Glad you got it back, you need to keep a that locked up so it dosent get you into more trouble 🙃
Was waiting to see who would catch that reference.
I'm disappointed. On that "Do You agree, do You disagree..." I've just noticed that I never disagreed with You. Phuck
Thank You for what You are doing! I love this channel.
Another reason. Wear a toe warmer that kills the blood circulation in your toes. Same as wearing double or triple socks.
Stay hydrated! And not just Zima
Best boot is what fits you and fits your needs, but are there any boot brands to just straight up avoid?
If you've never heard of them and they're being offered in a package deal, they probably should be avoided.
Top 5 things you know about snow bunnies like to hear it 😅
Could my feet have flattend out over the years? Gone up in size in regular sneakers and shoes. Now the boots feel way too thight.
Everyone’s feet flatten. Ears and feet only two things that never stop “growing”.
My feet get cold because I'm in the orca pod!
I'd put overcranking the boa in there too. People have no idea how much vice action is going on down there and strangling circulation. Next thing they know, frozen toes. Happened to me. I know!
I haven't had cold feet since i was in ski boots.
What grain of rice works best?
Basamati long grain only unless you're a peasant than cheap white rice.
King Missile reference. the evil children.
Do you have a brand that consistently flies under the radar every season that people tend to pass up? I need a new pair of boots and looking for a replacement with double-boa.
The best boot is the one that fits your foot and fits your needs.
@@AngrySnowboarder I knew you were going to say that... Appreciate the response tho!
Problem is that stores don't carry everything, sometimes you're making exceptions on fit simply due to what's available to you. I don't believe in buying boots online, and it's hard to find proper fitters that aren't a ski boot place to begin with. That's where branding can *sometimes* help. The brands that can consistently put out really good quality product with features that other manufacturers may pass by, simply due to the lack of experience in the boot industry, can really help with your decision.
Thanks for the content, it's always great.
Ski boot guys are actually highly knowledgeable with how to do tweaks to liners, a liner is a liner, the shell is the difference. Don't discredit them because they love holding onto poles.
@@AngrySnowboarder Point very well taken. Appreciate the interaction & advice, thank you.
If you ride in real north, the reason is that it just cold and the wind is killing you😂
The boot fitters look at me like I’m speaking 🤨 Chinese every time!! I’ve been looking for boots for over a year and I’m not going to compromise this time!! Luckily I have several pairs of boots until then. From bad purchases!!! 😫
Shoot, so with my boot heater, I shouldn’t be using the heat on function. Just use forced air. Good to know!
I think he was saying forced hot air is OK but the kind that just get hot without blowing air can melt the liners.
It won't melt the liner it heats the foam up over and over and over and causes it to lose it's shape and break down faster.
You put on an extra pair of socks because it’s extra cold out and now your boots are extra tight and you’re cutting off circulation to your toes and you get frost bite and your toes fall off
Renoir's Disease. Got it.
People who do #4 need to watch Mr. Deeds.
Is that a mishka board on your right?
Old Jibpan.
why does convection kill liners but not forced air?
Waves of heat is expanding the foam constantly.
@@AngrySnowboarder makes sense, maybe that's how my older liner worn out so quick. What if I take off the inserts and only do boot? Also new idea to break boots in lol
No that's fine if anything the liner will probably dry faster. Other issue with the convection heat is it causes the footbeds to remold as well, forgot to mention that earlier.
@@AngrySnowboarder so when I dry my boots I always take out the liner and foot bed, and then I dry the boot and liner separately with the machine. Do you see any problem with it? I have a convection.
Number One is proof that noone goes to the local shop anymore... Support your local shop guys!
Have you been in some of these shops lately, fuck people want real advice not a kid sitting at the front counter vibe checking people. Props to the good shops but Jesus fucking Christ on a cross there are so many bad shop employees out there.
@@AngrySnowboarder welp no but i get to tell people every day that they should try their boots before buying them, i work at a distro and i get a bazillion mails per day from people asking me to telepathically fix their hurty coldy feet...
But you're right, no advice is probably of more value than bad advice - i know i'm leaning towards certain product but that doesn't mean it's good for everyone at all
E: and with no advice theyll hopefully educate themselves more

Honestly just slap some toe warmers in the boot if all else fails. It never lets me down
Great way to cut off circulation.
Man I be sweating
So you mean that pro RUclips snowboarders on getting boots that are 2 size smaller was a bad advise???
What a spunion, that even surpasses my level of performance fit. Dudes just causing problems to his feet. But then again he's an "expert" right?

I bet they look great until April.
White pants girl BAAHAAAA!
I wrecked my feet same as other kids I knew growing up in northern minn. We played outdoor hockey in below zero weather. That is why I’ve been passionate about this topic for over 50 years. I’m not going into my personal advice anymore. I know that you hate me!
You're still crying about getting owned 2 years ago for your bad advice. Jesus you really are sad.
@@AngrySnowboarder I knew that you remembered me after I changed your life. I’m too old for anger!
So putting boots over a ac vent with heat is bad?
That's forced air not convection heat.
#1 You ride chairlifts
My kid had this problem even with proper socks (I think the rental boots were shitty). My hack was to get some of those emergency foil blankets, cut them into small square pieces and so that it wraps around her foot and radiates the body heat back. It took several tries while putting on the boots to ensure there were no large crumpled up sections that create hot spots but once we got them in, no problems in -17 weather all day on the slopes.
She's in rental boots, that's the issue right there.
@@AngrySnowboarder Spent the full budget on my gear. Fuck the kids... they can get a job and buy their own shit
