I'm planning a trip to Japan and wanted to learn about these sets but found that the available info was quite confusing, but this video (and the 1997 Cardass video you made) were SO informative and well-made. Thank you so much for taking the time to so clearly explain everything about these sets

Awesome video! Part of me really wants to start collecting these, but there's too many others I want for my collection. I got caught up on the modern alt arts being so pretty/cool that vintage fell to the wayside.

I am an Eeveelutions collector and I have the 1995 Topsun holi foil Eeveelutions set, talk about hard to find in great condition. Those “cards” are very fragile and will bend just by holding them. No wonder kids destroyed them pretty fast, haha. I also have the Cardass sets, Gengars prism, Arcanine, a host of others. I love vintage stuff. Oh Old Pokemon poker cards too, plenty of those.

Ok hear me out though. Couldnt carddass be interpreted as カード出す? Kaado(card) Dasu(to put out)? Thats what i always assumed. I never looked it up, but i do speak Japanese.
I hope you'll do a follow-up video of the banpresto set from 1997!

Bandai only published Street Fighter II in Europe as Capcom didn't have operations there at the time. Capcom published it in Japan and the US, as they also developed it. The way you say it makes it sound like they had a lot more to do with the game which isn't the case.

    • @sleevenocardbehind

i just bought a "carddass vintage japanese card" but i've never seen it before! i cant find any information or other pictures of this type of card other than the ebay seller i bought it from. i love the concept of these "cards" or stickers though
edit: the weirdest thing is, i've looked at the carddass version of the pokemon and it is not even close to the same thing. im hoping to get it graded nonetheless though
