Tough one. The puck is there, loose. But because the puck is in the crease, the goalie should get free reign to cover the puck freely? The player cannot go for loose puck in the crease? On the other hand, I do believe the puck does go in due to the stick pushing the pad in, but the puck was loose just microseconds before. The goalie’s pad is pushed in because the player sees the puck loose. This is a one in a gazillion play. I believe replay & slowing it down makes it worse. when the ducks commentators say “I hate the power the officials have to call the unsportsmanlike penalty against Kronen”. It’s pretty simple. Carrick is in the crease and pushes Karlsson further. Jarry isn’t allowed to come out and make the save. Even if you disagree it’s a dumb challenge.
Watched it on TV, I was just livid when the review said goalie interference. Carrick barely even touched Jarry!! That was a classical moment of the refs just dictating the game.
I bet Jay was fired up over Derek Ryan getting elbowed in the face by a Canuck. An official called a high stick. Then it was called off because he seem to think Ryan’s stick hit him in the face, and because of that. They can’t change the call to what actually happened. An Elbow.
