success is never linear but mate you really have done a lot for 23/24 year old, you lead a crew of guys, ran and still run a business paying a salary to employees, which some never achieve in a life time. Good on you mate, all the best, you're very driven and have no doubt you will find opportunity and success.
I think you’ll enjoy the lone wolf gig more this time around. You have an awesome attitude, and great skills. You’ll never lose. Very proud of you mate
Great to see you doing some different projects Ty, I've said it before and I'll say it again you don't make any money working for volume builders. Work off a per hour or day rate so you're not destorying your body trying to lay "x" amount of bricks per day to make a living. There's alot of work out there if you want it. All the best
Worked for myself by myself for many years and would have had it no other way. There’s times when a extra hand is useful but you manage. It’s good to try to expand your skill set if you have an aptitude for the other trades. Being a multi skilled tradesman opens you up to a greater amount of work and variation. A mix of indoor and outdoor jobs. Painting, plaster repairs, carpentry, tiling. Not all tradies seem to have that aptitude or interest but I can say that it is very beneficial to be able to diversify. Word of mouth is good for getting work as a brickie but you rarely get repeat work, most people only need the services of a brickie once in 20 years, but as a multi skilled tradesman you end up with both referral and plenty of repeat work.
..as long as your laying bricks your going forward …a private clientele is a good thing …good work leads to referrals…and they pay on completion….where as builders/developers………….
hey ty just wondering how you go about matching the colour of the mortor for a job thats already there, from an untrained eye the house looks almost grey but looks like you used the more yellow sand? does the cement change it that much?
You're doing great mate, if you were within a coowee I'd be looking you up for a job. Merry Christmas and have a great New Year, all the best regards from here on the West Coast side of Australia 🌏 Batavia Coast 🙏🖖🤟🇦🇺🐨👽
Just come across your channel mate from anthor bricklayer to anthor you look ljke a really good trowel you no wat you talking b working for your self is good no one telling you wat to do also if you get dead busy again u just get anthor bricklayer in qnd labour to keep up the good videos and top work 🧱👌
have you considered working fifo since you're solo now? my work mate did FIFO blocklaying in northern territory for $3500 a week (around 60-70 hours) hard yakka though
Get in with a few good inner city domestic builders doing architectural work. You’ll have work for life and you’ll end up being a top tradie. You’ve done amazingly well so far. These bumps and stresses will toughen you up mate. In short, get off the new estate stuff, you’ll never look back.
Hard being self employed, when sun shining make hay, when the drought comes around cut the fat and push on, Hart breaking training up lads, and letting them go, every day a school day, learn from your set backs, time will make you a wiser man 🖖
Find it strange how Australia sounds exactly like England in building terms , interests rates , mortgages etc ! Why’s it happening at other end of the world as well ? Englands slowed down massively bricklaying terms but every other job are getting pay rises
They’re devaluing your currency. The fiat system has only lasts a certain duration.till the system is overladen with credit. as its usuary and the system relies on credit. When this occurs a reset of currencies has to happen. They go to war during these resets to cover for the financial system collapse. Thing s will be going downhill fast.
Everything ebbs and flows throughout history. Rates, mortgages, etc. are all interconnected around the world. It'll rebound in a few years' time. A couple of hard years ahead, then it should ease off. The two wars should be finished by then. There may be a third one in the near future which could create further heart ache or be the catalyst to a two currency system. BRICS backed currency taking on the petro dollar. But, unfortunately this is what the greedy fat cats at the top want, so their revenue streams stay fat and healthy. Interesting times ahead.
Im just going to be frank with you TY No apprentice would stay if you make them work till 6pm on shitty apprentice wages NO APPRENTICE If you cant turn over profit while paying apprentice wages where you have to make then work ot Your doing something wrong Sometimes you need to see where youve made mistakes
If all people left you there was something very wrong on your side. bad relations from your side bad pay no heath care no respect to workers etc good for them now you know you're not god,you can start on new with experience.
You have winner written all over you. Great attitude, great vibe. You,ll be fine, life is like a roller coaster, especially in your 20s.

It's pretty easy to start out for yourself in bricklaying. If you can get a mate to partner with you, all you need to do is hire a labourer
Just did the same thing this year. I own a masonry company and I’m out running solo, love it. Keep putting them in,
I think you’ll enjoy the lone wolf gig more this time around. You have an awesome attitude, and great skills. You’ll never lose. Very proud of you mate
Chariot they called in England, what you use to rake the mortar back
Done it most of my working career and still going ,gives you more scope to pick and choose in lean times as well 👍

why didnt you build the two end ones and then use a line for the rest?
U have a good open mind mate i bet the hardships of bricklaying taught u that!
Better working that way or having 1 good apprentice/labourer with you. All the best Ty!
Keep up the great work Ty, managing a business is not easy, there’s some hard days but nothing you can’t go through
Good stuff Ty
I’ve been there many times mate. It’s all about attitude and being adaptable.

this looks more fun and rewarding than doing exterior walls of homes!
It’s a bit slow at the minute where I am in the uk a lot of lads have been sat at home, thankfully I’m keeping busy though
how did you build that wall without a string line?
hey ty just wondering how you go about matching the colour of the mortor for a job thats already there, from an untrained eye the house looks almost grey but looks like you used the more yellow sand? does the cement change it that much?
Dang TY, sorry you lost your workers, if I was living there, I’d be working with ya bud. I’ve got 20 years of experience in the trade.

every industry is slowing down a bit, building just one of the first to get hit because it relies on fresh credit flows (mortgages)

dont worry about it mate. life is like a s##t sandwich , you got to eat some of the s##t to have some of the bread.
Get out of the building game, we're heading into an economic global depression, probably lasting 13-15 years.
If that's the case, there's no game to get into. Only politicians and bankers will be safe.
Can you not cover the patio
Hop into insurance repair me and my boss loaded up with jobs
It happens mate comes and goes. Just do singles and get another apprentice if possible
Hey mate if you need a brickie you can hit me up
