I tried to read The Red Book while in the early recovery stage of psychosis. It was too difficult for me to read. Memories, Dreams, Reflections is the best book to start with when wishing to understand more of Jung! Great video :)
Why are you reading this while recovering from psycosis? Iis it therapeutic? Works like therapy? Communicates psychosis to the real word? Don't tell me jung is psychotic? Honestly, what's even psychosis at this point
as a German Biologist and Pythagorean - I bought the Red Book as soon as it became available. It is stunning to see - how in a dark Phase he still had the resources to Paint and write. Jung may have been Psychic in the sense - he sought the intimate contact wtih Freud - and broke it off - to prepare his own Path. His Vision of the great War and Atrocities emerging. His last remarks: “The World of Humanity hangs on a Thin Thread” - now 8 Billion People hang on an almost broken Thread. We may be the last Generation...
The more who do the work to become conscious the more there's a counter force to the collective unconscious and it's destructive expression through the masses.
It’s actually psychotherapy for crazy people. I would know, I have bipolar disorder, he speaks to the sick with imagery parable and allegory, to bring us back to ourselves, he’s a genius, he’s not psychotic, he just knows the language.
Coherence vs. incoherence is the main difference between a schizophrenic's theory and a sane person's theories. Still waiting for someone to lay out some coherent ideas from this Red Book. Not that I think Jung was insane. I think he was mostly a fraud.
Sadly the copy of the Red Book on this video (imitation leather edition) does NOT have any sketches, diagrams or pictures Jung drawn, only the text. To see them all one has to buy the Hard Cover version which will cost you a fortune
So dope you are also creating your very own The Red Book. I started producing crystal visions and inner dialogues that I have been recording in my notes and then faithfully a year later came across Liber Novus. It was the first book I read of Carl Jung. Now I'm reading more of his work, I can't get enough. I too am creating my very own Red Book. I am a new fan and subscriber to your awesome channel.
It’s hard to read other writers after Jung, you never quite get the mind blowing experience again. You have to read Erich Neumann, he was Jung’s favorite student and his work is amazing
@@ThusSpokeHaven Jung was dabbling with Neoplatonic theurgy, and countless syncretic practices; occult practices, if you will. Telling people to “write” their own red books is pointless if they don’t even know where to begin; these things can also be extremely dangerous for every individual. I’m speaking from experience.
CG Jung indeed was in a psychosis...all that was is contained in Liber Norvus...he came through his own dark night of the soul purified. I'm moved to tears at the implications of his work.
The journey to integration and rediscovery of our Soul is a journey to our center. Some practices help for some of the journey, but the deeper journey begins when we learn to follow a feeling. Thoughts and practices reach an end, but the capacity to feel more peace and more fullfillment is endless. Everyone should find a good teacher and a good path that fosters a deepening of awareness of the Self. The real journey and the real reward of seeking begins when we can safely shed all our expeditionary gear and proceed naked to our purest source.
Psycosis is One way to put it, But read also his "Memories, Dreams, Reflections" in which it becomes clear his Own distancing from Freud to reach more transendental knowledge. This is a man familiar with Alchemy and the Great Mysterys of Life. ❤️🔥👍🏽
It could be what we refer to as unlocking the minds eye, connection to the universal knowledge or just nothing but a way to read your and other humans behavior and the drive/ reasons we feelfor those actions… I think if people did this kind of thing then we would have a very different society and individuals. Probably in a positive and insightful way… I’d like to think it’s a way to journey into the introverted universe knowledge outside of us
I have a question about the edition of the book because it says that is a reader's edition and there's another which doesn't have the same description. Can someone please tell me what's the difference between the two editions?

You could, but you may end up rereading it later on. I think Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra is a good comparison. It would depend on how familiar you are with his work and you have to be careful because some people have interpretations I personally think are wrong.

7:20 Do you want to specify with what you mean with "we in the west live in a sickening culture" I do believe many, if most cultures are even more sickening, but I do definetly agree the west is not in a healthy state, and the pressure is very high. I've been raised without a god by christian raised parents. Im an atheist, but I do believe so many people not having a god, or having vastly different gods in the west causes huge problems. Thanks for the video
That’s a hefty question to answer in the comments section, but I think it comes down to a lack of a cohesive culture. I think that dooms any society to political polarization, radicalization, and the destruction of the middle class. Everything is set to be ripped in two, then further split into tribalistic chaos or else totalitarian take over. Nietzsche talks about how a society without myth is doomed. For us that was Christianity, but I think Jungian psychology provides a healthy alternative. A way to reintegrate Christian myth without some of the dangerous dogmatic side effects. Really a way to reintegrate Greek myth, any myth, and even to further create new myth (like Jung did in part for himself in the Red Book). It gives us insight into the importance religion, myth, and culture plays.
@@ThusSpokeHaven Alright. Just wanted to check whether you meant that or 'the sick racist sexist, homophobi etc west' Yeah I largely. Agree. As dangerous as doing a tab of acid is. It all leads to the same place. The mind’s a beautiful an sometimes scary place. Can be dangerous for people prone to certain mental illnesses but helpful in the long run for most others. (In my opinion)

I don't think anyone can gatekeep understanding as if there is a direct correlation between it and age. Many people put in a considerable effort to waste consciousness their whole life long. Experience is the benefit of age yes, but how many will learn more from a small sip of experience than those who have had a barrel full of it? It depends upon how the individual has postured themselves towards learning. If with humility coupled with rigor, the experiences to come will prove beneficial, and much of true learning is to become more simple and childlike anyways.
