This song makes me appreciate life more and more, especially knowing that Jesus is always the same distance away and I just have to cry to him with faith before it’s too late. At the end of the day, he’s the only source of love you need. No matter what happens on this earth infested with sin and sadness, I’ll always come to Jesus just as the man in this song did.
"You cried wolf...the tears they soaked your fur, the blood dripped from your fangs, you said "what have I done!?" You loved that lamb, with every sinful bone, and there you wept alone....
Hi guys! I’m from Chile and I have listened to Relient k since I was 12 years old, today I am 25. It is the only band that I have not stopped listening to and I never get tired of listening to this song.
I love that you can hear the audience singing along. especially the hopeful parts near the end. the crying wolf's confession "what have I done?", and living Lamb's reply "I am Love." When the entire audience is singing every word of a song this wordy and complicated, it shows just how impactful the song has been. This song has saved lives. Plural.
This lyrics, this piano, this trumpet, this song always remind me the love of God around us, even our deathbed, thanks a lot Relient K, love u so muchhhhhhhh
When I went to this concert, it was the second time I saw Deathbed performed live, but it was the first time that I got to see it when Jon Foreman was around to sing his part! Such an awesome experience!
I discovered this song when I was 11 and always turned it up when things turned out really low. Now im 18 and it still means a whole lot to me and always makes me feel a little less alone, as if i was listening to the story of the man in the song. I feel its something heavenly but everyone has their own unique experiences with this song.
After I got saved when I was 9 I didn’t have much access to anything biblical except a cd with this song on it and I listened to it over and over. 🥺 I still love it so much!
I used to play this song all the time on my rock phase as a teenager. My sister who is now 24 texted me like “what’s that one song you always used to play about the deathbed”. 🥲🥲 I never knew she was listening
I was at the Feb 4 2017 Show at Showbox Seattle, on the railing, 6' from the speakers. I also got to meet all the guys from RK. It was an early b-day present for my brother. This was my favorite part, because this is my favorite song.
I want to know what inspired this song. It is so profound and witty. I can barely handle my feels when I hear this song. This is possibly my favorite song by them
Dang. I've only listened to the studio recording, so hearing this live for the first time is pretty sweet. I love the Jon Foreman actually sang his part in a live show.
I hope you guys get together for a tour someday again soon!! I missed this tour because of a herniated disc in my back that summer...I was quite bummed...
Ive left the faith, i couldnt reconcile the current political landscape with whats in scripture, and through more study and discussion i came to the decision i dont believe or want to adhere to the bible. Even in my state of heresy and apostasy, this song is still devastating, and my only tattoo to this day is the flower on the cover of mmhmm. Relient k is an excellent band regardless of belief, and ill sing every lyric at the top of my lungs at every show of theirs i can get to.
Desde que escuché esta canción (hace unas 3 semanas atras)creo que se transformó en una de mis canciones favoritas...tanto letra como música se unen de una manera especial...muy buena composición!!
@@notificationsquadshout5672 I've been attempting that, haha! XD I've got a few good melodies and lyrics in the works, a few punk, a few various other genres, but I… A. Hate my voice XD, B. Am a broke College Student not able to buy the right instruments and tools (guess I'm stuck with Garage Band, hahaha… oof), and C. Lack the raw talent these crazy amazing individuals posses Just gotta keep trying, I suppose! Thanks for the encouragement, lol!
@@notificationsquadshout5672 I think I heard Switchfoot, Relient K and Death Cab for Cutie has an approach reversed to yours: first the lyrics, than the melody. But I guess for begginers your approach is more prolific, you just probably end up with less meaningful lyrics. All in all, have a good time with songwriting, I plan to do it too
@@dustinsteiger9154 there is software available like Musescore and Reaper or Ardour which can take time to learn but may be beneficial to you, they are also free (except Reaper).
Hey, I was actually at the show this audio was recorded at! Good job removing the crowd noises from the background, guys. I remember in the audience I could barely hear you guys over all of us singing this. I also remember recording the whole thing on my phone so I could rub in my friends' faces the fact that ya'll played this number in concert and they all missed it.
Does the BPM or time signature change during the transition between verse and chorus? I want to play this song, but I have a terrible ear and lose my flow when the chorus starts.
Don't mind me, just crying quietly over here to one of the greatest songs ever
Right there with ya
Same here😭
Same 😭😭😭
AGREED!!!!
Agree
It’s 2023 and my 30 year old self can still sing every single word to this entire album. This WAS my childhood 🎉
Same brother
2024 and my 31 year old self is replying to your comment
Every single time the “you cried wolf” stanza starts, I’m crying all the way until the end…
Man there truly is nothing like a Relient k show. So special. I miss them so much

Every time Jon comes in I lose it, it's like God is speaking to all of us through Jon. This song is a masterpiece.
The Best Song of Relient k
I'm not a Christian, but all these years later, I still love this song
One day...
FINALLY I hear the da da das get put in the climax. I've been wanting to hear that for like 10 years.
Dude! I love your work with Mr. Sunday!

One of the greatest song of all times
Lyrically, probably the best song I’ve ever heard
How underrated is this song!?...I remember discovering this song 2yrs ago and I have listened to it literally over 500 times

You can write songs as well its easy
All you have to do is have a melody stuck in your head then go on from there and start writing.

Lol rhetorical chat before the best serious song in their repertoire
