+the0cool0guy Agreed. While the 1-minute videos are entertaining and A LOT of fun to produce, these 15-minute videos set the standard for the level of instruction I try to offer on this channel.
Thank you so much for your game. When I've been frustrated with chess, I keep coming back to your videos and I am encouraged to try again and re-evaluate my play. Your 15 minute games are my favorite, because they encourage slow, thoughtful play, and I end up bringing that rhythm to my own games and performing more consistently.
+John Bartholomew That'd be brilliant! Mind you, you would have to delay the videos behind the moves by a couple of days so your opponent doesn't hear your thoughts!
+J Young Indeed! You may be thinking of my over-the-board game against GM Francesco Rambaldi at the 2015 London Chess Classic FIDE Open: ruclips.net/video/UokBqE_MewQ/видео.html I also played a very similar game against "Backsoon": ruclips.net/video/m9jmlv7nqqs/видео.html
+DntTouchme I think I should remove my queen from the c-file to avoid x-ray problems from White's rook on c1. If 14...Rb8, I'd have to reckon with 15.Nxd5 or possibly even 15.Nxb5.
Hey John, quick question. Do you purposely play lower rated opponents in these standard chess games for educational purposes? Or is it luck of the draw that often times they are below 2100 or so?
+rossschcheese Luck of the draw. I play the 15-minute pool on ICC, which has semi-randomized pairings (it tries to pair you as closely as possible to someone in your rating range; you can't select the opponent).
I've encountered this before (Sort of, it was bullet and we kinda have transposed after 1. c4 d5 [premoved it, best by test]). By the way, never interpreter, aren't you one of those Bullet Giants in the hourly tournaments? Which one? e-player? Dhruv? Someone else?
Hehe, I see anyone who frequents 2300+ a Giant. Maybe, less of a giant than, say, Eric, but still impressive. If you don't mind me asking, do you have a official FIDE rating? Have a nice day!
As classical chess is the heart of chess, your 15 min videos are the heart of your channel!

+Bennie Robinson Thanks for your feedback, Bennie. These 15-minute videos are also my favorite to make. Glad they've been helpful to you.
Hi John I didn't know you were of Slavic ancestry but don't call yourself slow you are a really bright guy. Thanks for the upload.
+Andrew Isbell Haha! #iseewhatyoudidthere Thanks for watching :)
Another great video John. Thank you and cheers!
+CivilianArms Thanks for watching, CivilianArms!
John would you consider a correspondence chess series? Maybe a short video for each move? Could be quite instructive. Love your videos!
+Max Dunn That's a REALLY interesting idea, Max! Maybe I could even play you guys, the subscribers?
+John Bartholomew That'd be brilliant! Mind you, you would have to delay the videos behind the moves by a couple of days so your opponent doesn't hear your thoughts!
+Max Dunn I'm strongly considering this concept. Thanks for the suggestion, Max!
this game gave me major deja vu... particularly the position at 4:23. have you played a similar game to this recently john?

7:10 why not Rab8?

Hello, John! Don't you think that provoking f3 actually helps white to play e4 later? Especially if they castle long?

+Monem Al-Semien not a giant lol. DVRazor.

stayed at this range 1900-2000
+NeverInterpreter Possibly, although it's not so clear-cut. f2-f3 is also a weakening move.
0:54 - John you spend a few days in (my home city of) London and you're already talking like a cockney ;D
+wfcyellow Haha :)
Wow - this guy knows his theory! He/She played the top move in the database every time up until 15. g4.
+iSevios Yup, a well-prepared opponent.
fun game
