The end had me in tears at first! The pure horror. I disagree with his review. This game is a 9.5 if not a 10. A subtle, beautifully atmospheric masterpiece. The sheer polish alone puts most games to shame. You're a dummy if you don't support these brilliant deva
I agree hunter, and I can't believe the reviewer found anything in this game to be humorous. Just from the way he describes the plot in the beginning, you can tell he didn't take a moment after to think about what just happened. There's a much larger story taking place here.
I just bought and finished this a few days ago, and it's still better than a lot of other games I've played. Probably the most polished game I've ever played, to the point of I really can't think of anything I'd add or remove. 10/10 for me.
How the fuck is this a 9/10 game? It's so incredibly linear and scripted. Much of the game is just trial and error and requires no skill at all. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed this game but it's definitely flawed.
Linear and scripted doesn't mean it's a bad game. This is one of the things I hate about this gen, because open world became the standard for AAA. And as a result, you get a bunch of padded games with filler quests. The last of us & uncharted 2. Great games, and linear. I wish there were more story driven action games like those. For me, inside is a great game.
I hear you on that, some of my favourite games are linear but not to this extent. Games like Uncharted 4 are wide linear where there's still some skill involved and more than one way to get past a level. In this game it's just trial and error most of the time. You literally have to die and learn the script of the game just to progress. That's not a 9/10 game to me.
"Learn the script"? For 5% of the game, sure, like in the beginning when you have to hide from the guys and run from the dog. But if puzzles who require timing and calculated moves in order to solve are nothing more than learning a script, then I guess most puzzle platformers are just "scripts you have to learn"? Dude. Remember the mermaid? Timing. The doomsday device where you have to stay behind stuff to not get blown away by the pulse? Timing and rhythm. The parade? Timing and improvisation. It only becomes trial and error if you're too slow to get it right first couple of times. But none of that matters because you have already missed what this game actually is. Inside is an experience. It's a ride. It is meant to be gazed at, listened to and felt. Not to "beat" or be solved. It is meant for people who enjoy taking the time to take in the sights and sounds, the incredibly well crafted textures and subtle animations, the beautiful layering of fog and light effects, the high level of detail and careful use of color which all lends to the beautiful and quietly threatening feel of the game. The sound design and music, again by the insanely talented Martin Stig Andersen, whose less-is-more approach in combination with the crunchy, wet, hyper-organic characteristic of the sound just takes the game to another level by itself. Try playing through it with a serious sound system and you'll see what I mean. And don't say it doesn't have a story because it very much does, but it's somewhat open to interpretation and leaves many of its decisions to you. Which is fine, because the story is more of a backdrop just like the puzzles and.. scripts. Try to look at it from another perspective, think about what the artists wanted to communicate to you throughout the game and I'm sure you'll have a very different experience. Peace.
How can anyone rate this game anything less than 9? Have anyone ever made a game like this? I bet even Big studios cant pull this off. Look at the level design, the animation, the way it plays. I think Playdead is one of the best game studios out there. Way to go guys!
What a poor review. You big gaming sites always attempt to sound articulate and eloquent but in the process miss the point epically. Everything you talked about in this review sounded robotic and disconnected from the actual sublime experience.
That's Sony fans for you. The game is getting amazing reviews from most places - but is GS is low balling it and IGN is in line with most other reviews - it must be that MS paid IGN, when it would seem more likely to assume Sony paid Gamespot. I mean, if we are going to use scores as evidence of such things.
Isaiah Rilles That was my point, actually. And I think the overall critical consensus and user consensus show that the game deserves a 9 or 10 out of 10. But whatever...
God forbid GameSpot score any Microsoft exclusive higher than an eight... I'm positive this would get an extra point if it weren't a Microsoft exclusive
lol just finished the game and got all the 15 secret. This game is by far the best game I've played this gen and if you look for the secrets and not just try to rush it's not really short. My Xbox one says I've clocked 8hours which might be wrong but I played it for 6 hours at the very least.
LOL game looks good but, it should NOT be in the league of gta v, uncharted 4, mgs v, tlou, zelda skyward sword, read dead redemption etc. Not in a million years
+Papa Pimp im a ps guy, u can check my trophies, and I want this game so bad. This, cuphead and sea of thieves are games that im looking forward to, but I ain't buying an xbox for 3 games
These are truly some of the best video games ever made. they may not be gta 5 or other shooter games, but they're amazing and i recommend you to try them :)
This reviewer, it seems, is being a bit harsh just for the sake of it. This game is fantastic, plain and simple. I beat it last night in one sitting and it continuously, and consistently impressed me, entertained me and kept me tense and intrigued. I LOVE this game. One of the best games I have ever played. The ending is the only issue I had with the game, but only because it ended at all. I wanted more.
I could only watch a minute of this video review. I stopped to keep anything from spoiling my experience. LIMBO was great, and Inside looks to be an improvement in production values and (hopefully) gameplay. I will be buying this tomorrow.
game got almost perfect scores..or atleast above 9 nearly everywhere. MS wont spend that much to make a small indie game stand out. and even people have voted this extrememly positive.
Rajarshi Mukherjee My point exactly - most "prof" reviewers and user's all think it is 9-10/10. I was sort of talking about the way people who are PS-lovers are reacting to GS giving it an 8, but almost everyone else with 9-10/10. given how we almost never get a game thing amazing on any platform - I give it an 11. Of course, really a 10, but 10's are not really given to games that truly deserve it IMO.
the moment i saw it, i know this game was gonna stand out. i have been waiting for this for so freaking long. im a huge Playdead fan....looking forward to play this game on PC
Can people stop complaining that the game got an 8? 8 is really high. Just because it's not 10/10 doesn't mean the reviewer is stupid or biased or "didn't get it." Relax.
I played Limbo and was intrigued by the simplicity of the mechanics and graphic content. I saw Inside on the Switch platform for 1.99. I must say it was the best 2 dollars I have ever spent. 😂😂😂 When the character got shot for the first time I knew this game would be awesome! Great job to the Devs!!!!
*INSIDE* is drenched in mystery, chaos and suspense with a little bit of horror sprinkled for the perfect taste. *This is the pinnacle of platformers, truly a masterpiece of its genre.* 💯 Edit: I disagree with a lot of things you said in this review, it's a 10/10 game. I'm glad the ending grew on you because that's exactly what elevated the game even more.
8/10 ? come on Gamespot ! this game is very very good and even IGN put it 10/10 ! You guys need to do your review with someone who knows to appreciate a Masterpiece !
+Frankie Reese lol is the lowest score given to it by a big reviewer as everyone else has given this game a 9 or higher even thougth this is a good score
"While most of these are fun, there comes a time when "Inside" leans too heavily on it's puzzles to keep you engaged." Yeah...... it's a puzzle game...........
+Adi Parkour angry joe suck ass now, AAA game reviews are pretty rare, let alone a reviews for this kind of games. ACG or super bunnyhop are more constant great reviews
I think this is an honest review like would propably give it 8,5 but that is it , I played the game and it's great but definitely not a 10 as IGN gave it
Is 8 a common score for gamespot people to review the game they like? I remembered the dude who reviewed dark souls 3 said he like that game, odd. Yes, yes 8 means great, but it still a 8
Well they gave Uncharted 4 and another game they recently reviewed a 9. But, as for your question, yes they do give a lot of 8's on their reviews. Honestly they give 8's so much on their reviews that at this point it's easy to predict what the scores for their reviews will be.
You have the point, but I mean 8 is totally ok, still it's not a score you'll gave for the games you really like, right? Yet those two reviewers saying they like inside/ds3, just feels so weird
massimo yang Yeah but at this point, gaming websites are losing credibility. I'm understanding to the score, but you got others out there that will point out the hypocrisy they find in their reviews and it will start a chain reaction.
smh this vid is the only big-name review that gave it a score it actually deserved also, dont try to look on-the-ball by saying that the ending had you think anything else other than "what the fuck" because let's face it, no one understood any of this shit on their first playthrough.
The Ranting Squirrel ` Then you should say ''I think it's only PC and Xbox'' instead of what you said. I don't get why people like you act as if they know something so sure when they don't. Huh...
So now apparently this review is starting to get hate because Gamespot has supposed "given unfair reviews to Xbox indie games in the past." And now it's happening again. Is that seriously a good reason to hate on this review?
+Littleredarmy Gaming Well Halo, Gears of war, and since you want to talk about games like last of us witch is out on last generation as well, left 4 dead, this game, sunset overdrive etc Amazing games and you will never get them
that's sad and fucked up in the same damn time, they know nothing about artistic games like Flower, Flow, Journey, Pixeljunk Eden, Echochrome, Everyday Shooter, Linger in Shadows, Rain, and The Unfinished Swan!
Yeah Limbo Bastion Braid Hexic Castle Crashers Geometry Wars TrialsHD Splosion Man Shadow Complex Toy soldiersSuperMeatBoy.These games were ALL 360 exclusives and made tons of money through summer of arcade and all these are all making games today such as The Witness The Binding of Issac Trials Shadow Complex remaster and also Inside
The real question is: Will xbox one fans buy it, or is the left up to PC games and PS gamers to help this game sell as always. I guarantee this game will not sell over 200k copies on the xbox one. Xbox one fans only buy fps and racing games, they don't know what REAL gaming is, most of the xbox one fans started gaming in the 360 era and that's a FACT. They never enjoyed classic games like, megaman, chrono trigger, ff6, ducktales, super metroid, perfect dark, battletoads, super castlevania 4, they simply didn't. So they can't enjoy a REAL game So it's up to PC gamers and ps gamers to help this game thrive and sell well #LMAO
Ps4 and pc players also play racing games. GAMERS play racing games. These are real games too, and have always been a staple in gaming, just not a prominent genre this time around.
Was really disappointed in this. I don't really like the 2nd half of the story and though the puzzles were pretty mediocre. 1st half of the game was great though. Uncharted 4 and the Witness are stilly the GOTY contenders to beat.
The end had me in tears at first! The pure horror. I disagree with his review. This game is a 9.5 if not a 10. A subtle, beautifully atmospheric masterpiece. The sheer polish alone puts most games to shame. You're a dummy if you don't support these brilliant deva
Completely agree buddy. Incredible game.
Was this game really that good?
They gave the game an 8/10 how is that doing a diservice to the devs, an 8 is a really good score.
I agree hunter, and I can't believe the reviewer found anything in this game to be humorous. Just from the way he describes the plot in the beginning, you can tell he didn't take a moment after to think about what just happened. There's a much larger story taking place here.
I just finished this and no way is it any less than a 9/10, no freakin way.

oh and the visuals are pretty good too.
this doesn't seem like a fair review. 8/10 is too low for this masterpiece
Hey guys, Oddworld called and wants their concept back.
L
not even close shut up and go away
Nice try.
what is this game about?
Maybe they got inspiration from Oddworld? This isn't a copy at all.
What a poor review. You big gaming sites always attempt to sound articulate and eloquent but in the process miss the point epically. Everything you talked about in this review sounded robotic and disconnected from the actual sublime experience.
So true man. These idiots need to learn how to be less mechanic and stop licking balls of big publishers and studios.
The reviewer sounded like one of the zombies you control in the game!
One of the best games I've ever played. Truly disturbing and fantastic. I absolutely loved the ending.
Summary of this comment section
IGN: 10/10
(meh, Microsoft paid them)
GameSpot: 8/10
(this is a very honest review)
?????????
That's Sony fans for you. The game is getting amazing reviews from most places - but is GS is low balling it and IGN is in line with most other reviews - it must be that MS paid IGN, when it would seem more likely to assume Sony paid Gamespot. I mean, if we are going to use scores as evidence of such things.
+BINARYGOD the game deserves an 8 or a 10 but to use the score as a basis on how much they get paid is completely absurd.
Isaiah Rilles That was my point, actually. And I think the overall critical consensus and user consensus show that the game deserves a 9 or 10 out of 10. But whatever...
wtf does microsoft have to do with this
Deserves a 10. The level of statements said but never explicitly said is incredible. And don't even get me started on the graphics
God forbid GameSpot score any Microsoft exclusive higher than an eight... I'm positive this would get an extra point if it weren't a Microsoft exclusive
+Jeremy Freeman yeah, they just suck on Sony's. An 8 for a possible GOTY title. Unsub'd Gamespot a long time ago.
reloaded17 True too... They all seem to suck on something LOL
it would be 10/10 game of the year if it was sony
Last gen: "Reviewers are biased against Sony. It's not fair!"
This gen: "Reviewers are biased against MS. It's not fair!"
This game is out on steam now, so its not an exclusive anymore.
lol just finished the game and got all the 15 secret. This game is by far the best game I've played this gen and if you look for the secrets and not just try to rush it's not really short. My Xbox one says I've clocked 8hours which might be wrong but I played it for 6 hours at the very least.
8/10.
You are the real MVP
IGN gave it 10, omg
If the only thing you're here for is the number in the end maybe just skip the review entirly
IGN gave it a 10
LOL game looks good but, it should NOT be in the league of gta v, uncharted 4, mgs v, tlou, zelda skyward sword, read dead redemption etc. Not in a million years
+Papa Pimp Being 10/10 doesn't mean it should be in the GTA league. It means the game is a masterpiece for what it's worth.
Comparing a indie game to AAA games is kinda dumb. A game can be a masterpiece without having millions and millions of dollars pumped into it.
They gave it an 8.
+Papa Pimp im a ps guy, u can check my trophies, and I want this game so bad. This, cuphead and sea of thieves are games that im looking forward to, but I ain't buying an xbox for 3 games
Wait what this game is out. Yo this shit looks epic
I think tomorrow.
july 7 or 8
+Juan Morales it comes out tomorrow
Onestrandedperson :0 my bad, cool!!
+Juan Morales although, I think you may be right about the July release too but that's for PC.
Don't watch this review, tons of spoilers!
This game is absolutely amazing. It deserves at least a 9 out of 10.
this game is a masterpiece.
even if you dont like puzzle games you will love this game.
I
I don't really imagine myself playing these type of games in an Xbox ... just dosen't ...seem right.
why? what difference does it make if its on Nintendo, Xbox pc or playstation? its all mental...lol
Same here. I would rather play rainbow six, call of duty or GTA V.
IKR.. Looks like one of those cheap ass steam games
These are truly some of the best video games ever made. they may not be gta 5 or other shooter games, but they're amazing and i recommend you to try them :)
+Chili Dog moron
This game deserves at least a 9, in my opinion.
IGN 10/10 👏👏👏
Game of the year!
I really wish they would show immediately in the beginning what platforms is this realeased on.
This reviewer, it seems, is being a bit harsh just for the sake of it. This game is fantastic, plain and simple. This will make the 4th exclusive game that I look forward to playing on XB1, and isn't on PS4.
I don't trust the xbox fanboy Ryan McCaffrey's 10/10 IGN review for a second so nice to see it got an 8 here. Sounds like another must play
Worth a fuckin' 10 and you know it.
watchALLthethings Haha u nailed it. Timeless masterpiece is what this gem of a game is
gamespot rated this the lowest of all other reviewers
and yet people say this review proves that Ms paid off IGN, but not that GS was paid off by Sony. Must be lot's of PS-owners in this thread.
game got almost perfect scores..or atleast above 9 nearly everywhere. MS wont spend that much to make a small indie game stand out. and even people have voted this extrememly positive.

Looks like a sidescroller I actually want to play
I give it a 10/10
GameSpot and IGN uploaded the review at the same time, that'll give something the internet to fight about
Such an amazing experience. It goes beyond just a fun video game, and it's something you have to play and experience. 9.5/10.
Its a crime rating this game anything below 9/10
I normally agree with GameSpot reviews, but I feel this was underrated. It's a masterpiece and worth at least a 9 in my opinion.
I guess you could call this an insider's look
Ba dum tssssssssSSSSSSSSSSSS
(Earth explodes)
Sorry it's 10/10..Don't care how short it is..nothing feels or sounds like this..hooked from start to finish and so were the non-gamers in my house
i just finished this game today. it was fun as hell. even tho the end was a little. eh i dont know to be honest. good game tho
IGN 10
GameSpot 8
so far great reviews from this game I feel all 2016 games are getting bad reviews besides this one.
So is this one of those bad reviews?
+Frankie Reese lol is the lowest score given to it by a big reviewer as everyone else has given this game a 9 or higher even thougth this is a good score
Well this review is already being accused of being biased. They're saying that Gamespot has done this with every single Xbox indie game released.
Frankie Reese no it's got a great reviews
Kevin Sanders I know that. It's what I saw from the comments on the written review on Gamespot's website.
Looks Great, but currently only on XBOX :( , gotta wait till steam release.
July 8
"While most of these are fun, there comes a time when "Inside" leans too heavily on it's puzzles to keep you engaged." Yeah...... it's a puzzle game...........
Ign gave it a 10.
I just bought and finished limbo on mobile. I hope they port this too. It's perfect for mobile as well.
Plot: human resources just need a nice vacation at seaside. Pink Floyd sountrack would be perfect for this game.
I'm not that into such games, but it really looks awesome!
Great Review :) TY
9/10 for me,the game is a masterpiece
Will this game be released at PS4 or MAC as well?
Yes. It is timed on XB1...
yes it's coming next week to steam
@Andrei The same reason you're unexplainably stupid?
yh it's coming on ps4
I was searching for the right words, you nailed it.
now this is a review u should check out IGN's mess of reviews never stoop to that level of reviews
Wtf are you talking about this was basically the same thing
+histrionic 1 nvermind I found a channel that can actually review right but this is still better than ign
+XGaming Productions 1 channel: Angry Joe.
More ACG Karak review games throruognly from graphics to the voice
+Adi Parkour angry joe suck ass now, AAA game reviews are pretty rare, let alone a reviews for this kind of games. ACG or super bunnyhop are more constant great reviews
Looking forward to buy this game
Everyone unanimously disagree with the score of 8.
So how is it a review is done before the game is even publically released?
I am going to cop this tomorrow.
Looks pretty interesting really, but sort of a shame they didn't derive more from their established formulas.
The only game that gives you an explanation to why the character only walks in 2 dimensions
One Of the Best 2D game i Ever play But The Ending really ruined everything
I think this is an honest review like would propably give it 8,5 but that is it , I played the game and it's great but definitely not a 10 as IGN gave it
what is this game about?
This game is a masterpiece
Nice game overall but I REALLY HATED the water levels, I hate water levels in games.

I'm so getting this on Steam
Played it. It was a nice 2 hours.
It's a timed exclusive to Xbox?
No, it's only on PC and Xbox.
I've read somewhere that it's timed exclusive, but it's unclear when it will come to PS4.
+The Ranting Squirrel ` Its timed the ps4 trailer is out
bolu yeah yeah I didn't know when I wrote that :)

Inside =2020 simulator in austerity terms.
Great game by any other terms.
Im here from Dunkey's best of 2016 video
8 is too low a rating for this game. Deserves a 9.
same thumbnail, IGN is that you?
You should know youre buggin when you give a 3 hour game a lesser score because of a slow middle section.
this game was sick
At least 9/10 bro...
game is pretty cool and artistic, but I have to admit that the water parts kind of ruin the fun and are a drag.
People buy Xbox for these type of games? apocalypse is near

Ps4 and pc players also play racing games. GAMERS play racing games. These are real games too, and have always been a staple in gaming, just not a prominent genre this time around.
I'm definitely gonna buy it

Yeah the ending was kind of a let down. No real resolution to anything
UrMomsChestHairr not every ending needs to be a happy or predictable resolution

This comment is getting sickening to see.
+Abel Villa (The Cynic) This comment is sickening? And you're the one still making comments like "Oh Xbox one?, I think I'll pass." haha
10/10 enough said
scored it 5.5 out of 100
Was really disappointed in this. I don't really like the 2nd half of the story and though the puzzles were pretty mediocre. 1st half of the game was great though. Uncharted 4 and the Witness are stilly the GOTY contenders to beat.
imagine if this is another limbo game
Must buy! *goes to Xbox Store*
