It was inevitable and I thought they clarified that they meant at this time meaning it was planned for the future but not at that very update and time. If they didn't add "top tier prems" then we would have stopped at tier IV.
I was hoping this plane wouldn't be a premium vehicle, I feel disappointed.

Your not just buying the vehicle model but quick acces to a whole techtree. A high rank premium will save you a lot of time and give you access to hundreds of hours of contenet if you play most of the vehicles. Plus SL for everything else

At least in the US is costing only 5 dollars more, here in brazil it's costing the double of the recently announced centauro and strv. The strv and centauro costs 189 brl and the f20 its costing 379 brl. Almost 1/3 of the monthly minimum wage lol

Can we go back to when the premiums were little known vehicles or especially painted copies of tech tree vehicles to conmemorate a special person?
As an example, we can have a special pilot's f104 be just an f-104 (of whatever version) of a pilot who became an ace or did something outstanding with the f-104 and painted to reflect that.
The worse part is all the bland and uninteresting premiums they keep adding to the USA tree means that interesting vehicles that should be premiums are less and less likely to show up. Looking at you m1 kvt and click bait

I rarely buy premiums as personally they do little to help where I am at in most trees but also the price points are just way too high in my opinion... not even going to get into the absurdity of the marketplace...
I always try to think of these as bait for new players, regardless of how much I would like to have and use these premiums, they just aren't a good value in my opinion... should be much lower.
I would like to see the f20E in tech tree, but since alot these planes are in Taiwan or south Korea it's likely ending up in Chinese tech tree which will make me sad. Oh well.

I still remember when their stance for the first while was 'no vehicles past 1954'. Yeah, that changed.
Then it was 'no guided weapons'. Then the IT-1 came.
Then it was 'no guided weapons from aircraft'. The Fritz X came, which, eh, fair, I could see. But then the FJ-4B VMF-232 came with Bullpups. That's the second I decided, 'they will never stick to their word ever, the goalposts will always change.'
That was also near the time that I started having my first real frequent hiatuses from the game, maybe only playing 30-40 hours a year instead of my previous grindset
75$ is actually insane, no vehicle should be more than 40$, given the incentive to buy premium, and other purchases in game
50$ would be a stretch but 75 is way too much

Advocate against only selling vehicles in bundles.
The F20 as example has about 24€ of stuff bundled with it, a reasonable price for the bundle would be 60€ and 40€ if you only buy the vehicle (for top tier, lover tiers should have lover prices)

I think wt has some of the Apple effect, where everyone you ask says their products are bad value and overpriced yet theyre one of the most valuable companies of all time. The reason theyre making 75usd premiums is because no matter how much the audible people complain theyll still sell tons.
Because the game is free and semi pay2win. They just hide the OP vehicles in the marketplace for $2000.

I would have been happier if it was put as a reward for one of the air grind events, as much as it pains me (because I love this aircraft) I won't be paying the price of a AAA game for it
I always thought that some premiums, if not all, should be researchable, like how they've done Squadron vehicles.
An interesting way of handling it could be that purchasing with GE/packs will get you bonuses, premium, and talisman, while conventional research yields none of that, just the vehicle.

Yep. By Christmas. I waited nearly a year for the A-6E, but I'm not sure if 8 months of wait is worth 30€ for something I want to play NOW.
True but it gives the vehicles time to mature and settle down, you'd get an idea what its worth few months later, maybe something new comes and its far better.

The event burnout is a great point. I occasionally do events (but genuinely enjoy just zooming around in the game, no love-hate relationship here), but an increased mission score goal for a thing that is everpresent is not a way to keep people engaged. The events were encouraging because they were special and seasonal. Now they're just another battlepass that demands even more activity. Event vehicles have to be something that's much tighter into my interests now, where before I might try for an armored car now and then because they looked fun, regardless of country.
I think its time for another Strike, since Kirill Yudintsev, creative director of Gaiijn said this last year to calm the strike:
"Player progression is essential. You can't give a player everything at once, because it will overwhelm and make the game very difficult for them and they will just leave it either immediately or almost immediately. This has been tested by us many times in different ways. When applied to our game, later vehicles are almost always more difficult to learn and play tactically, in the controls and with its capabilities. Progression provides opportunities for gradual learning and engaging the players. Without it, the game will lose players right from the start."
They haven't learned anything, and they are just laughing at our faces because they know people will buy the vehicles at any price they choose.
$75 is quite a lot for such a low-fidelity plane. Although with how long it takes to unlock stuff in the tech tree, it might even be less of a waste of resources this way.

IMO it makes sense for it too be a premiums since it was just a prototype, the issue i have with it is the cost and that its in top tier.
I think they're going to add the F-20C as a tech tree vehicle since it carried AIM-9Ms and AIM-120s.

To be incredibly honest i am kind of happy for this. The F-20 is my favorite plane EVER with the F5 coming behind it so having my favorite plane as a grinding machine does seem pretty appealing

I would say that no single vehicle should be worth more than $30.
The game itself, sure I could see $60, or even $70. But a singular vehicle? In a f2p game? No more than $30, and I'd even say it shouldn't be more than $20, AND packs should exist.

What I wonder about is how far do they place the price ceiling for those prices. Are they actually going to figure it out in a trial by fire way or do they have like an internal idea. And if they do - what if they want to add higher rank premiums later on? 75 bucks is already a lot. Are they going to go for a hundred as well?

Yeah, I love the F5s and the F20, I'm very disappointed it's premium and I won't pay that much for. If it's half off, Maybe that's still pushing it.
My only issue with the F-20 is the lack of confirmation regarding AIM-120 or not.
That's kinda the thing though: IRL, it never got to test AMRAAMs, however it might've had the capability (though there's also the chance of the capability being reserved for prototype 4, which was less than half-built when the program was cancelled in 1986)
because they already said it's been pushed back.

@@Tigershark_3082It's radar (AN/APG-67) wasn't capable of using AMRAAMs as far as I am aware. Nothing that has used that radar has ever tested with an AMRAAM.
what gets my goat is people used to complain about DCS modules being $50+, even though they have extremely accurate flight models, everything in the cockpit works, radar is simulated properly (usually), etc. $75 for tweaking a visual model and copying-pasting everything else, wtf

a premium should be a variant of an already existing vehicle used for grinding, not something most of the community wants that is now being locked behind an absurdly high paywall. even if it goes on a 50% off sale, gaijin usually doesn't do that for the first year of release, this means most people who do buy the tigershark will have to end up waiting well over a year to do so. i understand that gaijin is a company that needs to generate revenue, but locking one of the most highly anticipated vehicles behind a £70 price tag is incredibly out of touch.
I just wanted to see what they added in the dev blog and all I see is preorder stuff. Like I get finding new stuff is hard but why is a majority of the new stuff pre orders, like the Traam, that was unique. I still remember when they said the we were greedy for wanting basic and understandable things added without having to spend money, this game I dont think will last long
Just hate how no mater how much these premiums are there are still going to be so many people just buying them the second they're out, feeding Gaijin to keep doing this over and over. There's a reason why we think that almost every new vehicle is going to be a premium.

I love my Su25s, they are my go to vehicles for a bit of fun. That doesn’t mean I’m going to pay $70 for the Su39.

1:40 Coulda been more honest and said that "no top tier premiums" stopped being a thing when they added the M46 Tiger in 2014.
I wish that they released a copy paste F-14A "LATE" as a premium instead of a unique vehicle as a premium. I may be one of the few who don't mind premium vehicles, but I think they are better as copy paste vehicles that players can buy to supplement a lineup, or to grind a tree out but not a unique vehicle that is locked behind a paywall.

A little caveat is that the F-20 doesn't actually have its proper loadouts. It should get AGM-65H's instead of the nerfed B's, and it never used the 7F but rather the 7M, though in War Thunder there isn't a difference between the two. It should also have AIM-9P-5's.
The upcoming DCS F-4 Phantom has one of the most insanely detailed aircraft models ever put in a game. I mean they are literally going so far as to simulate the friction of cockpit gauge dials. All for $80 USD. They make War Thunder look like an absolute joke and it's honestly insulting for Gaijin to ask that much for any in-game item.

Israel getting a Mk3 premium over the missing Mk3D the US has is absolutely tragic, they only get 2 tanks for 11.0.

Ok I’m not apposed to paying 40-50$ if what I’m buying is worth it. But I’m not paying almost 100$ for a digital vehicle that’s just absurd there’s no reason to charge anyone more than 50$ for something we don’t physically have access to.
I mean in the End as you said, this game is absolutely huge yet it‘s free and despite the price people actually buy these premiums. I’m not a top tier player because I think at the moment the game still has to evolve to make more modern jets work so I don‘t know how much they affect the gameplay. But all in all let‘s just enjoy what we get for free and not complain about the specific rarer jets that actually have a cost to play right?
