So I just ate that and it is probably the best salad I've ever had. Really, I'm not one to comment on RUclips on the regular or anything, but it deserves it. Again, best salad I've ever had.
Never been to Palestine or the middle east, but the cuisine there looks delicious and healthy. Probably one of the tastiest in the world. I've prepared hummus many times and now I'm going to try this wonderful salad. Love you, from Italy. 🇵🇸 🇮🇹
Nadia! I just made this salad for the first time. I had to go to a lot of stores! but i got the chives, the right cheese, the dried mint. this salad is a B L E S S I N G! WOW WOW WOW thank you so much, tell Yasma hiiiiiieeeeeeee
Agreed that it's nice of you to suggest vegan alternatives. I miss halloumi although here in the UK we have a couple of great feta alternatives. I love middle eastern breakfasts.
Browned some leftover cheese cubes from a party and browned and drained them until they were a chewy crispy pancake, cut it up and used it instead. Used basil pesto I had on hand..so delicious. thank you
The algorithm has blessed me today! I stumbled across your veggie broth video ten minutes ago and now I am working my way through the other videos on your channel. Everything looks AMAZING!
Not only am I loving all the recipes, you are 100% engaging in these videos. Where so many videos are just someone's hands, or are so very dry, there's the engagement as if the viewer is actually there in the kitchen with you. Being someone who was raised in a kitchen, and consider my kitchen to be my "zen garden", I'm sending the same in you. I'm blathering, 😂, but it's nice to see someone who enjoys the same things about cooking as myself.
Your channel is a gift, truly! I have binged on your vegan (nearly vegan) recipe videos, today, and feel incredibly inspired. The colours, the simplicity, the layers of flavours 🤤 Plus, I have learned a few things from you, as well! Thank you for sharing your recipes, techniques, fun personality, creativity and time! ❤️
Ok, I am officially hooked to this channel now! My husband is half Greek Cypriot and a lot of these recipes are similar to his (and my) tastes...thank you, Nadia!
Nadia you are absolutely fabulous ❤ Thank you for these recipes and thank you for being such a vibrant, positive energy ball! It's a source of joy to be with you in your kitchen through Sahtein :) Loads of Love to you!
Thank you from Sydney, Australia. This exact salad reminded me of lunchtime in Alicante, Spain with my Mama's family. I'm gonna have to visit them all now when international travel allows it.
I am thrilled to learn to make delicious foods from your kitchen. It has been a difficult year and it is nice to see someone so authentic, genuine and kind. ❤🇨🇦❤
I made this for dinner last night! First time cooking with haloumi in a very long time, and the first time successfully. I also added some pine nuts, which worked well. It was a really nice salad for a mid-summer night. The spice shop here in Boston where I got the dried mint also sells za'atar, so I got some to try with some other recipe of yours.
It reminds me the salad that i used to eat when i was visiting my grandparents in Tunisia during summer from France...the only différence is that we add apple in it
That's a cool tip about putting onions in the fridge. I light a candle near where I'm cutting and it draws the fumes to it somehow. Also I'm vegan but maybe I'll try to fry some vegan cheese eventhough it's gunna be different. Miyoko's makes a vegan mozzarella that's also about $8 or maybe I could make a homemade one. Edit: I love mint!
Sometimes I add some 'slightly under soaked' bulgher and it will absorb the juices,I usually use fresh mint during the summer..and perhaps some kalamatas. Now to find some haloumi..
I am absolutely drooling here. I'm buying these ingredients when I go shopping next. I already know I'll love it. Plus I'm vastly reducing my intake of processed foods and carbs and going back to plant based eating ❤😘 from the Scottish Highlands x
I make my own halloumi cheese. I purchase my raw milk from the Amish, it’s a golden yellow color since it is high in butterfat. It’s so easy and fun to make.
I just love your personality ❤️ probably my favorite salad of all time. DEF have done the avocado and zaatar additions but I’ve always eaten the fried halloumi on the side. Love the idea that it kind of becomes like a crouton in your/your cousin’s version
Yes it is totally like a salty crouton! Yasma says it is the most important part. I don't always add it but it is definitely a special treat. I love this salad more than most things ❤️
I fricken adore haloumi, and any salad along these lines whether Middle Eastern, Korean, etc. Living in California, where you can find avocados everywhere, I find the shi shi funny. They can be expensive, but my corner store in the Tenderloin in San Francisco even sells them. Anyway, newly addicted to your channel. Catching up. Already love ful, first one I watched, as I have Palestinian friends. Happy Weekend.
Gonna try this tomorrow! It sounds a bit like one of the salads from Ottolenghi's book, which is a family favourite Plus, you make it sound so easy and chill. Love your vibe!
It's a refreshing salad that is very colorful and has a nice vegetable texture! Good sound ~. As you said, it is a salad that you can enjoy with various ingredients. I love this!
In my family, Ramadan salad is similar to this, except: no cheese, but with finely-chopped raddish, and a dressing made of Tahini and lemon juice. Don't know why we eat it only during Ramadan because it's delicious whenever!
Found this on Pinterest and 200% works 👍. Plop a soaking wet napkin next to where you are cutting your onions and you won't get tears in your eyes. Apparently, the acid in onions that makes your eyes tear up is attracted to the water in your eyes. You'll notice if you remove the wet napkin, your eyes will start watering again.
A lot of what you use and do in your kitchen is very familiar with slight variations. My family eats haloumi with salad, but we just eat it on the side. I will try it in the salad, I bet its just as good. We also use fresh mint because I have a large garden with a lot of mint, but I've used dried mint as well. BTW, what is this word you use "Zushed it up"?
Thank you, I do my best, and am working on getting back to my regular schedule, please keep in mind that I produce/edit these entirely on my own and I also work on multiple other projects!
So glad i have discovered this wonderful channel

Nadia is sooo charming and your food is a part of my kitchen.
I eat a salad of tomato-onion-cucumber-lemon-olive oil all the time because it’s easy and delicious. I have to try your version ASAP
It is so considerate of you to give vegan alternatives and time stamps. Your channel is a gem, and I swear I will cook every single (vegan) recipe!!
I try to make our food as accessible as possible to all so that means a lot. Thank you! Sahtein :)

You are one of the few who are pronouncing halloumi correctly as we do in Cyprus. Much love from Cyprus, your middle eastern neighborhood.

Good trick for the onion. I always cut them in half, and then run cold water over them for a minute or so.

Nice recipe!

I can’t always find halumi. I assume feta would be a good substitute?
