This would perfect for a tiny home. Takes up less room than a stack of plates. Provides countless hours of entertainment, all within a 150w cap.
I'm thinking the same thing lol would love to get myself a tiny home
The CPU wattage is a bug with intel CPUs. To fix it it's as simple as changing the permissions of the folder and with goverlay there is a red dot near the power settings that automatically fixes it
Yesss, I love these videos! I really hope Valve enters the console market, that would be incredible.
Overdue actually
@@dr.papadopolis7171 not if you count the steam machine, but we don't talk about the steam machine
Steam doesn't have retail support, only limted amount of countires are supported.
For example Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go are available in my country while Steamdeck is not present. Before adding more hardware to their catalogue they need to be available in every country. Or make deal with Asus, Msi etc and let them handle the hardware retail support and just provide the OS.
I'd like to try this with Nobara. Chimera is great but, I prefer the changes and tweaks that GloriousEggroll and his team have for gaming. Plus, you get some better gaming features out of KDE than Gnome.
Does Nobara work better than Bazzite in that particular regard?
Would like to see Bazzite demoed on the channel too
@@csolisr Not sure. Haven't had a chance to play around with Bazzite. (I learned about it long after I'd put Nobara on my primary machine)
@@amirpourghoureiyan1637 Yeah, I'd like to see it on some of these machines. I've not had a chance to see what it looks like in action
Love to see a video of this PC with the arc gpu.
FSR-3 will make this run like a charm
I'd love to poke around this guy's garage shelves! I can't even imagine how many computers and handhelds he must have!!
He won't have anything. Everything is his daily driver
Best steam deck I've seen In mini version❤
for devices like this some noise level details would be really interesting. Like idle, gaming, benchmark noise levels
I was hoping to do something like this, but was limited to Nvidia, so a Windows machine with Big Picture is what I will have, still hyped.
*@ETAPRIME* The 1L tiny Lenovo ThinkCentre models m720q, m920q, m90q, p320, p330 & I believe also the m920x each all have an actual PCIe Express Slot (I believe x8). & there's x16 to x8 adapters/ connector cards (90° angle) made for this mod to add a single slot discrete GPU into the original housing. Some people have done it and drilled or cut holes in the top over the CPU & GPU fans for better airflow. Some have even 3D printed a new top cover/ lid for this upgrade. It'd be nice if you could do a video on it showing newer games running on it. I've seen a couple people do it with A2000 single slot mods. & it'd also be cool to see someone do it with a RX 6400 using Chimera OS. Which that I haven't seen yet (you'd be the 1st).
Those 1L Tiny ThinkCentre Office PC's could possibly be a budget friendly alternative to the MS-01 build. At a fraction of the price with those ThinkCentre Tinys used on Ebay.
Also it seems everyone that's done the GPU upgrade on a 1L mini/ tiny are using the i5 8600t variants of those ThinkCentre models mentioned above.
*Again the ThinkCentre Tiny models with a PCIe Express slot are the m720q, m920q, m90q, p320, p330 & i think the m920x as well* the m720q & m920q with i5 8500t or 8600t seem to be the most popular model I've seen people do this GPU add/ mod on.
Steam OS has Proton a Direct X to Vulcan translation layer. Chimera doesn’t mention what translation layer they use for translating direct x to either Vulcan or Open GL on its page but a search using Copilot AI chatbot says it’s using Direct X to Vulcan translation layer. It’s basically the homebrew version of Steam OS. But at the same time they are different. Performance and compatibility could be different. Chimera OS is a project people do on their spare time whereas Steam OS is a real product developed by people who get paid to work on it.
Proton is built into steam. If you’re running steam on Linux it’s just a switch you enable.
its fun to see linux performs better than windows which most of the tested games made for windows I hope popularity of linux will increase and devs will care linux too.
He didnt even install / test Windows ... you high? Linux gaming besides steam deck doesnt even support HDR - which makes it completely useless for gaming in 2024... Have fun with your 400 nits SDR content ... lol

Will interested with this product if it has option for i3 or i5 or even Ryzen series. Not everyone need i9 when pair with GPU
Reminds of those modem/router combo from the form factor size. I wonder what the lifespan of this would be from gaming all the time.
This more a clone of those HP/Dell/Lenovo Office mini PCs, he has doen emulation videos on a bunch of those over the last few years. This one just happens to have a modern laptop cpu and dGPU support. ( Although Lenovo has a few models that have this too)

Yeeeeah! Looks Good!
Works great as a all in wonder nas, gaming, and router.
Paying $700 to have my games running at 60fps but looking like complete ass was not a New Year’s resolution of mine sadly.
What's a good budget for a small pc? Or to build a egpu because I have a legion go I can dock already as a pc.
If we knocked it down to an i3, i5 or i7, that'd take the price down by $200-300, which would be perfect to pour back into a GPU; have a slim console solution for $500-600. Its a shame that the i9s are the only available models, it'll never get full utilization for gaming with a 1 slot GPU.
Dumb question would a a4000 or rtx 4060 low profile fit this mini PC
Yeah, video is really great. Thank u for that.
I would prefer an ITX still 😁
Acemagic is the best with Navwithus 🤣
Did you disable iGPU on BIOS or you just set DRI_PRIME=1 envieonmental variable?
Linux is tricky if you don't know which hdmi port are you using.
BTW, VRR only available on displayport.
Would be awesome if you could feature the Rtx SFF A4000, it's basically 50% faster than an a2000 at the same formfactor
Would it fit I see on minisforum site for this model they only mentioned the a2000
The A2000 will not fit because it's a dual slot card and this pc only take single slot cards.@@Spencerwalker21
Neither will fit @@Spencerwalker21

The RX 6400 has basically the same performance as the 780M in the UM780/790. From a strictly gaming perspective, this makes the PCIe slot much less exciting.
It really is not, u still get lot more frames per second with similar settings with an rx 6400.
yeah just google “780m vs RX 6400” and you will see that’s not the case
You are correct. The biggest draw to this is DDR5 and 3 M.2 slots.
what keyboard aer you using, love it
If only it came with a I3 or I5, it could replace my curent OPNSense router, it's also a great homelab server 👀
I wish Valve would just buy out/hire Chimeras team, literally everyone with a steam deck wants SteamOS, and at this point i dubt itll be released to the public until SteamOS 4.
Rx 6400 on a pcie 4 slot was how it was always meant to be used.
This thing almost sounds better than a series s im probably gonna build one ❤❤❤
I ordered a mini pc last week imma try out Linux it and see if I like it
I love these mini build videos. Thanks for sharing! I was thinking isn't that maybe a bit of an overkill CPU? How do thermals manage on such a small package? Maybe it's better to take it easier with a 13700H, go cheaper, colder and more in parity with the GPU (still likely overkill, could maybe throw the savings into the graphics card if there's another LP like it).
One question, would Emudeck work with ChimeraOS? If so, such a machine could be awesome for an arcade...
They make the chips specifically for tiny computers, laptops and handheld systems. That's why they have funny letters like H or T at the end of the name of the chip The older dell Mini PC's that are LGA 1151 support CPUs like the i6 6500T which is a similar chip to the standard i5 6500 but uses less power and thus has decreased thermals. H means high performance, but they are designed for a mobile environment anyway, so they are made from the factory to be in a smaller computer like this. Also, with an RX 6400 you aren't thermal throttling your CPU, lol.
@@christianmino3753 I think you may have misread my comment. None of what you are saying has anything to do with my post 😛. I did recommend a lower tier but still low power 13700H. The 400mhz difference isn't likely to make a difference in gaming but you will likely notice the CPU being cooler because of it and it will be cheaper. The gpu has not that much to do with the cpu temps (though in a sff it might) but what I'm saying is a 13900h paired with an rx 6400 makes less sense than a 13700h paired with an rx 6600 for example.
Cheaper is a valid point, but what's driving the concern about thermals? In both of the videos ETA has posted, it's maintaining a perfectly acceptable temperature level per the on-screen overlay.
@@aaronbrook hmmm, interesting. Really swooped over the vid and focused on the frame rates. But that's true, thermals are not an issue.
It has SFP+!!!! 10GB Here I come! I need this but using a more efficient CPU for my homelab. 🤪
This was made for homelabs. It's going to dominate in a proxmox cluster.
question, if your not using a controller, how do you display the overlay? is there a keyboard combination to show it?
Would love this if it ditched the SFP ports and switched to an AMD APU
Let us know when you find case for a sff. Are for the RTX 4070. My 11L still feels too big for it. But I still want mini fans to cool my 7800x3d.

I wish if you use batecra to see how it performed playing emulators like ps3 or xbox 360.
Would love to see an A2000 rigged up in there with some custom cooling or something. With this setup you might was well be using a Ryzen chip with a 780m. It’s the same class of performance.

You could run an i5 and have the same performance
Almost two years and people are still saying steam deck os?
Is there a reason you don't use SteamOS itself?
is chimeraOS worth it than tumbleweed?
Depends chimera is more meant for sitting back on your tv using a controller
i use it on my small pc in the living room with most my emulation and some pc games than run with an rtx 2060 so somewhat decent
No, it has absolutely NONE of SteamOS on it either. Just Steam on Arch, absolutely none of the features you find outside of arch and Steam.
Dude tried this on my onexplayer mini pro but for a few games the controller wouldn't register so I just use batocera. But as always thanks for showing us!

Does gigabyte's low profile 4060 fit? If so, this and a copy of windows (I hear nVidia doesn't play nice with linux) would be sweet.
Weird, my original comment was deleted. No, it won't. The 4060 is a dual slot card, so it's too thick. It's also too long. It also requires tertiary power.
That video I've linked is the smallest case I've seen that can accommodate a 4060 or 4060Ti from a neat company based out of Eastern Europe.
This is a great size, but the price to performance ratio is pretty low. I think the mini-pc's running with a AMD laptop gpu is a better deal.

Because its positioned for the same market really.
the children yearn for the steambox
If only they had a i5 or an i3 variant, I would love to put something together but cant afford something with an i9 😭
You can find a cheap 2nd hand lenovo m720q or m920q. Same form factor and got space for a low profile gpu. I picked one up for $150 and it came with a i7 8700T. You can get it cheaper if u want a i5 or i3 variant. I found a cheap nvidia quadro T1000 for $100 (slightly weaker than 1650). Got it set up for dual boot windows and batocera. Nice little pc
Does it fit a low profile A2000 without other modifications?

I dont think that iris beats any rx 6400 afaik.
oh man this thing is cool but it's too expensive to spend its life as just a console gaming machine; $600 plus another $100-400 for the graphics card 😬
yeah at that pricepoint i would just get a console if your just going to game with it.
the rx 6400 is a bit above 100. And at least with this u can upgrade the gpu in 2-3 years, when a newer generation LP model comes out. Might at least get a performance boost from the same games again then.
So my little conspiracy theory about the lack of an official release for steam os. I bet its nvidia dragging their heels for proper driver support, and steam doesnt want to release it with a caveat saying "oh it wont work on 80% of gaming pcs". But also dont want to throw nvidia under the bus as that would likely make it even less likely to get drivers
Ding ding
You could've put in a Low Profile RTX 4060 in that.
No one runs NVIDIA cards for gaming on Linux. Silly idea.
