A small correction: Pepsinogen is secreted not by parietal cells but by chief cells. The reason why pepsinogen levels decrease is due to concomitant chief cell loss during parietal cell destruction. Thank you for this beautiful lecture.
I have a lot of trouble with gastric biopsies that show mild changes and don't know if I should call it chronic gastritis or normal. It's always easy to identify an overt inflamatory infiltration, but most cases are not overt and border the line of normalcy.
Pleas can explain its symptoms. One time and I've completed antibiotics for H-pylori and it's negative. Now after endoscopy and Biopsy doctor told me I've inactive chronic gastritis. I've no symptoms of burning etc. I've just swelling at my left upper side also in dudenum. I feels pain and left side, body pains, body aches, left arm pain at node point ( feels like swelling). Pl can help anyone I'm suffering since 2 years. I feel even more hungery sometimes. Thanks
I had erosive gastritis in 2017 now just had a biopsy done for gastric polyps came back pre pyloric stomach and intestinal metaplasia have to repeat in 3 years upper endoscopy

Thank you for this beautiful lecture.
To add : If you watch her normal histology of stomach, she did say pepsinogen is produced by chief cells.
