Hey there! I saw you guys used some of my footage, but since for once someone explained it correctly, I'm okay with it :D I will soon release a short film about Catatumbo that shows the place and the lightning in various perspectives, so I hope once it's out, you'll enjoy it!
I know this is old but its annoying when people dont credit other's work. Your footage is beautiful and im glad you came here so we can find the true source.
I'm from Caracas, Venezuela. My country has a lot beutiful and amazing places but with political and economical situation we can not travel to those places. Our monthly salary is 2.5 dollars PER MONTH.
Good job. Probably would help to identify that Catatumbo might also be responsible for a large portion of the Ozone layer.. that wonderful thing that protects us from the sun.
I’m rather surprised we don’t see setup after setup of scientific stations on the skyline around this area! I would think that this would be a fairytale come true for all those who study lightning at all! It’s beautiful regardless!
Nice video. Very informative. The only thing I would point out is that the image of those lightnings you showed at the beginning of the video was actually taken in Greece. Nonetheless a great video with a spot on explanation.
It's more important than that as that small area generates more ozone a year than anywhere else. The thicker the ozone layer the less radiation from the sun gets thru.
1:37- 1:44 a lighting bolt is seen hitting one spot continuously! And it gets more violent in that one spot while its aleady been struck down! something fishy going on here? 🤔
Would there be a way to harvest the energy of these lightning bolts? Theyre so consistent in this place, maybe it could work? Imma go grab my kite and a key, brb
It wouldn't work because there is no consistent way to store that much electricity. It would fry all the capacitors and batteries we have. It wouldnt be reliable or very efficient

This little region surrounded by mountains is The Great Valley from The Land Before Time series! I've finally found it!
really hard to find good explanations about this phenomenon. Thank you for covering this. Well done!
Thanks!!
If I lived there I would be freaking out
I live There

Can’t believe sleep deprivation of the people living there

Ah ! Oh ! Catatumboh !
Maracaibo is misspelled in the video (SMH)
Ricardo. I noticed that too.
Maracaibo lake.

It's slow motion lol
You're such a fan of the catatumbo lightning storms that you got the name of the lake wrong, right?
It's MARACAIBO
not Maracabio...
...Mar¡con

I have been there one time a year ago and I saw a good amount of lightning but not as much as this
Does it make any sound?
They are silent
Eso es en el Estado Independiente del Zulia
No digan que ese lugar es de Venezuela. EL MERITO ES PARA EL ZULIA, NO PARA VENEZUELA
Maracaibo not Maracabio
Tourist or freaks?
