This show is conceptually unattainable; the best one of the whole semaine de la couture. Never thought it would ever been possible to define clothes as apocalyptic, hypnotic, creepy and slightly satanic, as models are looking like members of a sect (and a big applause goes to the different body-shapes and ages shown); the whole soundtrack is awesome. Just crazy for it.
I totally agree. This is an awesome show. Very Terry Gilliam, Akira inspired, among other awesome and relevant things. Anyone who thinks this show is just about the flooded runway clearly doesn't get it.

The more I look at this, the more I’m in love with his process. He is the only change currently happening in fashion, and I’m glad he moved on from Vêtement and focused on Balenciaga! Can’t wait to see what he has to say with Haute Couture!

I am not into fashion. I am here because of the amazing design! Wow! The chairs sloping off into the water is just amazing. The skrim in the roof with superb visuals just makes it. Very impressive.
That's actually an led wall surprisingly that makes the visuals on the roof/ceiling. I am curious how they mounted such a giant and of course heavy led wall like that but very cool use of it.
@@brikstik3442 are you sure about that? You can get lightweight LED panels. And the modules can be removed from the casing and mounted to custom fixtures so it is possible. But I was pretty sure this was projection.

The screen above represent the pollution in the air, water represents the rising sea level, but the rich 1% are just walking on the water and pretending nothing is happening

I don't believe that one percent is oblivious to climate change because they are the many who can afford the use of solar panels, hybrid or electric vehicles, green architecture, etc,
I see the collection, much of which is of seemingly weatherproof fabrics, adjusting to this new reality. Certainly this Balenciaga is NOT for the 98%
but why would they target their own demographic? for awareness?

sigisings wow I did not think about the water proof clothes aspect, although I don’t think the water proof clothes is gonna save us from rising sea levels💀💀, haha. But my saying about the one percent, is kind of a generalization too, obviously the one percent it not oblivious, they are very much aware, but chose most of the time economic growth over sustainability. I think it’s pretty genius and funny that Demna is always take shots at his own customers.
Balenciaga’s main objective was to create awareness of climate change in this collection.
I love how huge companies like this want to create awareness to climate change by literally contributing to climate change by producing thousands of pieces of clothing
Tyler James This is a luxury fashion house, which means they produce a small number of clothing. But fast fashion contributes very highly to climate change due to the high number of textile waste.
@@tylerjamesbos Balenciaga doesn't produce enough clothes to do what you suggest. This is a very expensive brand which means they have a smaller number of clients compared to affordable clothing manufacturers. I guaranty you that your own personal choice of clothing store/brand in your local shopping center contributes way more to polluting the environment compared to brands like Balenciaga.

Though Balenciaga has a small number of clients, I don't see the ways they're contributing to climate change. A little bit of symbolism on a catwalk, SAYS something, but doesn't DO anything except give Balenciaga extra publicity. Now if the fabrics are deadstock/ethically sourced, that's a different story.

Flooded ramp : representing the high sea levels Roof : graphics demonstrating the effects of air pollution ...so in other words they were simply trying to physically put us in an environment that will soon be ours if we don’t act in an environmentally friendly manner , that being their “purpose”

As long as I know, most of them are artists. Some painter, sculpturer, jewelry designer, etc. And they are friend of Demna.

Is this show prophetic of the Coronavirus pandemic? I remember looking at this show when it first came out and feeling terrified! There was a real sense of gloom and doom that I could not understand, but this is how the streets of most cities (New York, Paris, Milan) look now after dark. The only people I see walking those cold, wet streets look as haunted as these models.
I noticed that as well...look at their spring 2020 campaign it's even more prophetic

It’s a bit sarcastic that balenciaga chose to present rapid climate change as stage setting, while fashion is the second most polluting industry of all. Whats even more ironic is as the beautiful model walking nonchalantly, the audience were full of super rich and celebrities whose lifestyle massively contributed to the inevitable apocalypse.
