I think it is actually a Coywolf.. they are a hybrid population that are being found all over even major cities. Wolf coyote hybrids display some interesting traits that neither animal usually display... Namely no fear of heavily populated areas.

I'm in Shasta County. Seen a Brown Bear, Black Bear, Coyote, Ringtail, grey fox, Wild Turkey, Deer, King Snake, Scorpion, moles, grey squirrels, ground squirrel, blue tail skink, alligator and bluebells lizard and dozens of different birds..and relentless stray cats that feed buzzards😏 on my 5 acres.
I feed the birds and Grey Squirrels.. if anything is on my property my Squirrels tell me.. its really cool and sneaky.

Coy Wolf. They have been breeding with coyotes and now there's these hybrid coywolfs and they don't seem to display fear of heavily populated areas which is not characteristic of wolves or coyotes generally.
There are some interesting discussions about this new hybrid animal as they have been discovered everywhere from in the San Fernando valley to the outskirts of Chicago and seem to be causing some serious concerns

They did a study on mountain lions back in 2008 where they radio caller a bunch of them, you'd be absolutely amazed how many of them hung out in urban areas, over 80% but were not Reported as sighted.
