Catholics become parts of the early Roman Catholics Apostolic Christian ; some of whom were martyrs to the waves of persecutions of the pagan emperors of Rome.
The fiercest was under Nero's time ; they were fed to the lions and became the spectacle of amusements to Nero and his subjects , while some , like Peter, were crucified along the road.
There is a story about Peter's circumstance before it happened.
Peter could have escaped Nero's height of madness. But while walking along the road of the Appennine hills to get way from Rome , he rested by the roadside and fell asleep . Then he had a vision in his dream , where Christ was bearing his cross going in the other direction, that is towards Rome. So, he called out: " Lord, where are you going? "
And Christ replied:" I'm going to Rome."
Peter said: " But, Lord, Rome is burning!"
Christ answered: " I'll be with my children, even if I have to die the second time."
Peter woke up and realized what he had done, so he got up and hurried back to Rome to be with the Christian martyrs whom Nero fed to the lions for his amusements. He expected to be fed to the lions, too, like them. But it turned out, Nero had a different plan for him; he was to be crucified.
And Peter suggested that , if it be so, he wanted it to be done differently: his head down where his feet would be, while his feet would be up there. But he was not nailed, he was just hanged and tied .
Peter thought he's not worthy the crucifixion that our Lord had gone through.
See: "Quo Vadis", though the movie by Mervyn Leroy needs much more to be desired; another much better version is needed on the part of Peter, whence that episode of the movie's title comes from.
" Quo Vadis, Lord", Peter asked.
" To Rome. How about you, Peter? Where are you going?" asked the Lord.

      Where exactly in the Bible?

    • @donhaddix3770
      @donhaddix3770 5 месяцев назад

@@elenag2965 The word “saint” comes from the Greek word hagios, which means “consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." It is almost always used in the plural, “saints.” "…Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem" (Acts 9:13). "Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda" (Acts 9:32). "And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons …“ (Acts 26:10). There is only one instance of the singular use, and that is "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus…" (Philippians 4:21). In Scripture there are 67 uses of the plural “saints” compared to only one use of the singular word “saint.” Even in that one instance, a plurality of saints is in view: “…every saint…” (Philippians 4:21).
The idea of the word “saints” is a group of people set apart for the Lord and His kingdom. There are three references referring to godly character of saints: "that you receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints …" (Romans 16:2). "For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12). "But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints" (Ephesians 5:3).
Therefore, scripturally speaking, the “saints” are the body of Christ, Christians, the church. All Christians are considered saints. All Christians are saints-and at the same time are called to be saints. First Corinthians 1:2 states it clearly: “To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy…” The words “sanctified” and “holy” come from the same Greek root as the word that is commonly translated “saints.” Christians are saints by virtue of their connection with Jesus Christ. Christians are called to be saints, to increasingly allow their daily life to more closely match their position in Christ. This is the biblical description and calling of the saints.
How does the Roman Catholic understanding of “saints” compare with the biblical teaching? Not very well. In Roman Catholic theology, the saints are in heaven. In the Bible, the saints are on earth. In Roman Catholic teaching, a person does not become a saint unless he/she is “beatified” or “canonized” by the Pope or prominent bishop. In the Bible, everyone who has received Jesus Christ by faith is a saint. In Roman Catholic practice, the saints are revered, prayed to, and in some instances, worshiped. Jennifer Bodurtha where in the Bible that says that everything that you need to believe in the matters of faith should be written in it? Paul says not everything that Jesus did is written.
Do you believe when Jesus said “this is my body, He is the bread of life and that bread is his flesh. He who eats His body and drink his blood lives in Him and He in him. “. Or you think this is just symbolism? So who is the unbeliever now?

    • @joecastillo8798

      Jennifer,
If you noticed, Mark was communicating with adults, since they were able to read.
On the other hand, all humans born with the sin of Adam from birth need Baptism to be cleansed and be given sanctifying grace.
Peter also tells you what happens at baptism when he is quoted saying in:
      ACTS 2:38-39
      38. And Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
      39. For the promise is TO YOU AND TO YOUR CHILDREN and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him.”
TO YOU AND TO YOUR CHILDREN!
      1 PETER 3:21:
21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Jesus said that NO ONE can enter heaven unless he has been born again of water and the Holy Spirit (John 3:5). His words can be taken to apply to anyone capable of belonging to his kingdom. He asserted such even for children:
“Let the CHILDREN COME TO ME, and do not hinder them; for TO SUCH BELONGS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN” (Matt. 19:14).
Pay attention to what Luke 18:15 says:
“Now they were bringing EVEN INFANTS to him” (In Greek: Prosepheron de auto kai ta brepha). The Greek word BREPHA means “INFANTS”, children who are quite unable to approach Christ on their own and who could not possibly make a conscious decision to “accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.”
      God bless.

It takes faith in Christ and his shed blood to remit sin Hebrew 9 : 22 With out the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin . and as far as Peter say repent and be Baptized for for the forgiveness of sin he is saying you need to repent of your sin . . No where in the scriptures will you see that God puts his spirit into a sinful body and the only way to have a sinless body is though faith in the Christ and his blood atonement Water does not cleanse the soul you need to repent and your sins must be under the blood of Christ or The Holy Spirit will not enter

      @@donaldcooley897
      Donald,
Your problem is that you first create a supposed "christian" phylosophy of what you want as a comfortable notion of God and "salvation", then you try to adapt your square peg in a round square. Worst of all, you have the gall to want to have company in such absurdity.
Sorry Donald. You are obscured by the same spirit of division that took Luther away from the one truth in the Catholic Church founded by Jesus.
Remember the very clear words of Jesus, who is God:
      MATTHEW 16:18-19
      18. And I tell YOU, YOU are PETER, and on THIS ROCK I will BUILD MY CHURCH, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. .
      19. I will GIVE YOU the KEYS of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you BIND on earth shall be BOUND in HEAVEN, and whatever you LOOSE on earth shall be LOOSED in HEAVEN.”
There's only ONE PETER, the Rock over whom The Church is built and he died in Rome. All his future successors inherit the Chair and the promise of our Lord to be with His One Church until the end of times.
What happens when you, together with Luther, refuse to obey His commands?
      Read very carefully:
      MATTHEW 18:17
      17. If he refuses to listen to them, tell THE CHURCH. If he refuses to listen EVEN to THE CHURCH, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector.
      18. Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
●There's not a free for all teaching, according to personal opinions. No teaching of "go get your own bible and interpret away". There was never a "protestant" phylosophy preached by our Savior.
Jesus message is strictly CATHOLIC, by sending His Apostles throughout the world in UNITY. Never in division.
      MATTHEW 28:19-20
      19. Therefore go and make disciples of ALL NATIONS (Catholic), BAPTIZING them (No exceptions mentioned) in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
      20. and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded YOU. And surely I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, to the very end of the age.”
●And we Catholics believe that throughout this journey, Jesus is constantly at our side. Not once did He leave His ONE TRUE CHURCH, ecause, as you just read above, He gave His word.
You shoukd also know that Jesus speaks with ONE VOICE through present and future leaders of HIS ONE CHURCH.
      LUKE 10:16
      16. 'Anyone who listens to you LISTENS TO ME; anyone who rejects you REJECTS ME, and those who reject me reject the one who sent me.'
●The Apostles, headed by Peter, were succeeded by designated bishops through the imposition of hands and went on to lead and guide the one Church guaranteed by Jesus until the end of times.
Do you wish to deny the Power of God?
Understand, in God there's UNITY and TRUTH. Therefore, there csn only exist ONE CHURCH with ONE TRUTH for ever, in order to avoid confusion:
      JOHN 17: 22-23
      22. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that THEY MAY BE ONE, as WE ARE ONE,
      23. I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to PERFECTION AS ONE, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.
●With God there can be Nothing less than a "perfect union". Because Jesus guarantees His Body the Church a constant flow of wisdom and truth in unity, just like when He dwelled among the Apostles, where there was NO DIVISION.
However, when people choose a "personal" path, betrayal occurs. This is what happened when a disgruntled "minority", JUDAS and LUTHER, tempted by Satan, did not trust these words of Jesus:
      JOHN 16: 12-15
      12. “I HAVE yet MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU, but you cannot bear them now.
      13. When the SPIRIT of TRUTH comes, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL THE TRUTH; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
      14. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
      15. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that He will take what is mine and declare it to YOU.
●The truth and nothing but the truth, just like in the oath.
THE CHURCH, NOT the Bible alone, is the permanent guide to truth in the lives of all faithful Christians:
      1 TIMOTHY 3:15
      15. if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is THE CHURCH of the living God, THE PILLAR and FOUNDATION of TRUTH.
●As catholics, we believe that Jesus did NOT leave ANY BIBLE to invent or argue about faith. On the contrary, He gave us the FAITH of the CHURCH to understand the truths of the Bible in unity and harmony.
      May God bless your discernment.

Joe , You use the same old argument like everything Jesus says is to the apostate Catholic Church , Christ is not talking to the Catholic Church , and why do you Catholic s Bring up Luther all the time I don`t worship luther in fact until I started exposing the lies and false teachings of the Catholic Church I didn`t know much about Luther . But he must have been right because the pope Called him a heretic and try to have him Killed for exposing the lies and false dogmas of catholic Cult . and then Tyndale massed produced the English version and the pope and the Church had him burned at the stake and persecuted all the Christian and forbid them to read the bibles under the penalty of death and that why they Come to America , to have freedom to worship God in spirit and the word The Church that Christ established is his body and not a local assembly . You are miss interpreting the meaning of most of your scriptures salvation is more simple than driving a square peg into round hole , salvation is by faith in the Gospel of Christ and nothing could be more simple . If you say salvation is obtained any other way you are calling God a liar. and you keep saying the apostate Catholic Church is the church that Christ established which is an other lie . no where does it say Christ has any thing to do with the Catholic Cult . matt. 18 : 17 has nothing to do with the apostate Catholic Church Christ is talking about discord between brothers in Christ and what to do when they can not come to an agreement they should take it to the Church and if he want listen to them let him go . and what is this crap you are saying about me not doing what God says . You are making a fool out of your self with your Comments may be the ignorant Catholic sheep believe you but Christians that live by faith in Jesus Christ and read and study the scriptures know better that agree with your stupid remarks when Christ talks about unity in his Church he is talking about his body the one true Church and to be a member you must be save and then Christ is in you and you in him we are all members of one Body baptized by the one spirit into the one the one body the Church that is the only way to have prefect unity and Christ says that all should Go in to all the world and witness to people about Christ Acts. 1 : 8 Christ never tells peter he will be with him you should not try to interpret the scriptures John 16 : 12 - 15 Christ was talking to his disciples just before he was going to be with father in heaven that he will leave them the spirit of God to show them all things in John 14 ; 26 he talks about the spirit will come and teach them all thing and bring to remembrance I have said to you . Christ him self says that the spirit will reveal the words he has spoken not the Church and if the Church says anything that is of God it will be from the scriptures .

The sacraments of confession and repentance takes precedence over intellectual faith .
It is work to show faith: work and faith by St James found in his epistle.
Baptism is doing that: repentance and faith by intellectual assent.
Sanctifying Grace begun to work once you are baptized and stay in that state free from mortal sin .

    "SAINT"
The proper word to use is "upright" or "Elect" in place of Saint, since scriptures tell us the following in Romans:
Romans 3:10 As it is written , There is none righteous, no, not one
The etymology of the word “saint” - its origin and meaning: It came into use in the English language around the 1100's, as an adjective used of those whom the Catholic Church had “beatified” and “canonized”. At that time, the meaning of the word “saint” was “holy”, corresponding to the Latin adjective sanctus which meant “holy”, “sacred” (related to the verb sancio, “to consecrate”). So, in the 1100s, “saint Eligius” simply meant “holy Eligius”. Later, in the 1300s or so, the word “saint” began to be used even as a noun, “a saint”, but it still referred to the Catholic “saints”, and was not used of living persons.
The word Sacred is a sun deity name. , Holy is derived for the divinely honored sun. So it seems that since it did come from Rome, that Saint has something to do with the sun and sun worship.
It was only in Protestant times, from the 1500s and onward, that the English word “saint” began to be used of (living) persons of “extraordinary holiness”, and then even of church members and so on.
This would be like the word "rapture", which was used only in Jerome's Latin Vulgate and Christians still use that word today, so it seems that this also goes for the word "saint".
Even the words “saintdom” and “sainthood” were originally Catholic concepts, referring to those whom the Catholic Church had “beatified” and “canonised”. A note: The words “sainthood” and “saintdom” do not appear in bible-translations, at least not in any of the most common ones. All of Catholic origin.
This is how the English word “saint” came into being:
The Greek (Erasmus) text of the New Testament has hagios (άγιος). Jerome's Latin Vulgate version translated that into Latin as sanctus.
Wycliffe, whose 1395 English translation was based on the (Jerome's) Latin text and not on the Greek, did not translate the Latin sanctus but used it, in the transcribed form “seyntis”.
Later, the spelling was changed further, to “sainctes” (Tyndale, 1525), “sayntes” (Coverdale, 1535), “saintes” (Geneva bible, 1560) and finally “saints” (Geneva bible, 1587).
Pagan deities were made Christian saints.
    Bacchus became St. Bacchus
Dionysius became St. Denys or Denis
    Brigid, Became Saint Brigid
    Dazhdbóg became saint Germain
    ERos became SAINT EROS,
    Demeter is now St. Demetrios
    Aphrodite became St. Aphrodite
The Roman deities Mars was originally a deity who guarded wheat fields. He became St. Martin (esp. St. Martin-in-the-fields)
The Roman deity Quirinus became St. Cyrinus,
The Roman deities known as the Lares became St. Lawrence
The Roman female deity Venus became St. Venera
The Roman deities known as the Gemini, who were protectors of sailors in Roman pagan times, became the Sanctos Geminos
The Greek deity Nike was picked up as Saint Nicholas, who was extremely popular wherever shipping was important. He is the patron saint of Russian, Holland and Germany, all on the north sea coast.

You clearly had a poor teaching in American churches ,you do not understand the gospel and are not saved . An American baptist once said to me there are many churches there that preach a watered down gospel, and many are following their own traditions and no different from the Anglican church here in G.B. He was a minister 9 years before he was converted.
Look at what was taught by the Apostles, it was believe you are sinner and under the condemnation of God .that is why Jesus died for your sins . Now you have to believe this and repent of your sins . True faith is in everything Jesus said and did.
You were right in one thing the word saint is applied to the believers only. There are not two kinds of saints anywhere in the Bible. Letters were addressed to the saints at --then the name of the church.
A true believer does not continue in wilful sin ,but is not sinless. God said ALL have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. That includes Mary. Only God is sinless.
If you studied John's gospel more carefully you would know what Jesus meant by water and Spirit. Nicodemus said can a man go back into the womb? He was thinking of the physical birth .Jesus said that which is born of the flesh is flesh, that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. So except a man is born of water (physical birth) AND the Spirit ,HE CANNOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
The true repentant believer is sanctified during there life ,and indwelt by the Holy Spirit. They cannot be lost. God says so .2 John 5 . these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the son of God that ye may KNOW that you have eternal life.
If you are saved you know you already have eternal life . We will all be changed from this earthly body to an eternal one. Jesus earthly body does not exist any more . It was changed ,as 'flesh and blood does not inherit eternal life .'He does not have a body of flesh and blood anymore.
You have taken on there false teaching ,thinking their Roman church was the only one . The fell into error through the influence of the pagan Roman Emperors. Just study the lives of the Popes they were immoral ,murderers, and far from Christian.

John Smyth 1570 Anglican who thought baptising babies was wrong . Started a small Baptist meeting similar to the traditional Baptist of the last century ,but he then left and ended up with the Mennonites. None of these were watered down until about the 1960 with the pop culture influencing churches music and worship. The Roman church dropped Baptism under the influence of the Emperors ,and replaced it with Christening in general .Then in the last cent Vat 2 changed the Roman church as well .Now I have seen in Vienna a R.C. service at Christmas a year or 2 ago, with people dressed in red costumes and one with a devil's mask and horns dancing about in the service. It might still be on Y.TUBE .
IT IS NOW MORE ABOUT ENTERTAINING THAN WORSHIP.

The apostles among themselves got into a heated argument wherein it is said that Peter told them to stop. Isn't it? My point is to forgive and forget. Steve Ray is telling you false tales about the scriptures .In the first place you repent of your sins ask God to forgive you before you saved and when you except Christ or believe on Christ then God puts is spirit in you , You are Holy and righteous in Gods sight or he would not give you the Comforter to teach you all thing it is not a progressive act . salvation is instant . He makes fun of the words except Christ as your personal savior , Those words may not be in the scriptures but Christ died for the sins of the world and with out asking Christ to forgive you ( that is personal ) of your sins you are not saved so it is excepting Christ as your personal savior . Just because Christ come to die for the sins of the world doesn't mean your sin are forgiven , you have to make it personal by asking Christ to for give you and except him into your heart . That Choice is your`s personal . Christ mediated the New Covenant , He is the High Priest he sacrificed him self one time for your sins and then set down at the Right Hand of the Father Heb. 10 : 10 - 12 . in verse 16 God says I will put my laws in to there Heart . So Ray says that is a Baptist doctrine when you except Christ as your personal savior and ask him to come in to your heart but it is Scripture you must personal ask God to save you though faith in Christ and you don`t have to die to become a saint when you are a believer you are a saint here on earth , Rom. 8 : 27 ; EPH. 2 : 19 ; Jude 3 You don`t have to die or be appointed to be a saint when you are saved you are a saint. and at the same time you are Baptized by the spirit into the one Church the body of Christ 1 Cor. 12 : 12 - 13 Christ`s body is the Church Eph. 1 : 22 - 23 and it is not a local assembly . This man teaches things that he knows are not the Truth of the scriptures

      @Donald Cooley
      Donald,
Protestantism is the vision of a man named Luther who wanted things done according to his will.
Catholicism is the action of God among His people, to be done according to His Holy Will.
      How did that happen?
First, God the Son becomes human and is named Jesus. This occurs through the free assent of a woman, named Mary, who becomes His mother.
Second, at age 33 Jesus tells a man, named Simon, that he will be called Cephas, Rock, and that He will build His Church upon him.
      What happened?
Jesus built the Catholic Church on Peter, with the solemn and divine promise that the gates of hell will never prevail against it. That's exactly what happened! The Catholic Church is here today and will continue to exist until the end of times, just as Jesus promised.
Your proposition, on the other hand, is the product of wishful thinking of wanting God's word to be according to your preferred way and outcome.
In contrast, Jesus proposition is the real action of God, carried out as He promised; which is saving humanity through His death and resurrection, perpetuated in an ever and present act that is known as A EUCHARISTIC OBLATION, predicted by a Prophet:
“For from the rising of the sun even to the going down, my name is great among the Gentiles, and in every place there is sacrifice, and there is offered to my name a clean oblation: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Malachi 1:11)
Dr. Heinisch, an Old Testament scholar, comments: “The prophecy of Malachi is fulfilled in the sacrifice of holy Mass. Here we have a true sacrifice; the object is the purest possible - the Son of God, and the Offerer, the Savior through the hands of the priest. It is, moreover, offered in all places throughout the world” (Christ in Prophecy, p.173)
What does that mean for us?
After the consecration at Mass, the prayer of the Church universal and especially the congregation assembled in which the immaculate Victim, the Son, is offered to God the Father in the Holy Spirit. The oblation means that the faithful offer up not only Christ but themselves in union with him. He died on His cross; they are to die to themselves on their cross and thus merit the graces that only sacrifice can merit before God.
This is 2,000 years of truth, according to Jesus holy will.
Since Jesus established the Catholic Church as necessary for salvation, those who knowingly and willingly reject him or his Church can not be saved. We see this in Jesus’ teaching: "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters" (Mt 12:30). Also: "If he, a sinning brother, refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector" (Mt 18:17).
      Paul warned similarly:
"As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is perverted and sinful; he is self-condemned".
      (Ti 3:10-11).
Nevertheless, the Catholic Church recognizes that God does not condemn those who are innocently ignorant of the truth about His offer of salvation, that's why the Catechism of the Catholic Church (quoting Vatican II document Lumen Gentium, 16) states:
●"This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church: Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience-those too may achieve eternal salvation". (CCC 847)
Vatican II document Gaudium Et Spes teaches similarly on the possibility of salvation:
      ● " All this holds true not only for Christians, but for all men of good will in whose hearts grace works in an unseen way. For, since Christ died for all men, and since the ultimate vocation of man is in fact one, and divine, we ought to believe that the Holy Spirit in a manner known only to God offers to every man the possibility of being associated with this paschal mystery". (22)
This teaching is consistent with Jesus’ own teaching about those who innocently reject him: "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin" (Jn 15:22).
But once a person comes to know the truth, he must embrace it or he will be culpable of rejecting it. We see this in Jesus’ words to the Pharisees: "If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains" (Jn 9:41). Paul taught likewise concerning the Gentiles:
"When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus". (Rom 2:14-16)
God introduced salvation to the world through His chosen people, the Jews. God’s revelation to the Jews found its fulfillment in Christ, the Messiah, who established the Catholic Church. The grace necessary for salvation continues to come from Christ, through his Church. Those who innocently do not know and embrace this might still attain salvation but those who knowingly and willingly choose to reject it, reject salvation on God’s terms.
The Catechism (Lumen Gentium) summarizes all this as follows:
"Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it". (CCC 846)
May God bless you and grant you the grace to know the truth.
