Then there would be a cutscene where Otto, the guard at the Cathedral in Mondstat would start clapping. He still wears the Favonius Knight uniform, but has an evil smile reflected on his face while breaking the 4th wall. "You are not the "player". YOU ARE BUT A PAWN." Then the cliff where Mondstat lies splits, and shows a tall tower where Mondstat lies on top, shaped like a torch. FR tho. Why is a guard named OTTO guarding the Cathedral? The last time I saw that name, an Apocalypse happened. Why does the Cathedral have a "secret basement" of only books and an antique lyre? I BET THAT IS NOT ALL THERE IS TO IT. Where and who are the heads of the Cathedral? Barbara is just a "Deaconess". That's the lowest rank. There are six more titles above that. Esp. the POPE. Otto is not impossible to be a villain. The real culprit in Inazuma Arc after all is an NPC called Nathan. A secret triple agent. Works as double agent to the Resistance and Tenryu Commission to instigate war in Inazuma as that is his job as a Fatui Agent. There is also Nimrod who is a "spy" in the Treasure Hoarders who just loiters outside Mondstat. An NPC as well. This game's lore KILLS ME WTF.
Anemo being the Queen also makes sense because Anemo can technically "use" four other elements, like the Queen can move in any direction, meaning they both have more options or freedom.
@@ninjakeks9326 well, Geo can't technically "use" them, since it can't deal extra elemental damage, all it can do is create countermeasures for the other elements
no... if each lumine and eather has to be black and white, opposite side of chess. so at the end, one of us must die to let the other win. omg, this is so tragedy of two sibling has to walk on journey to kill each other at the end.
It's highly speculated that for the Dendro Archon, he is in the hiding and Lesser lord Kusanli assumes her current role the as dendro archon, so it would correlate to how the dendro slime has many smaller ones fighting for it until it finally reveals its self in the end.
So does that mean we might be jailed in Fontaine since the hydro archon might imprison people the same way as the hydro slime imprison us in a bubble? Oh no. First Liyue, then Inazuma and maybe Fontaine in the future... why are we always a wanted fugitives 😑😅
Also noone gonna talk about how paimon says, "Lets start with the anemo Statue of the 7, and there's a reason why!" I believe paimon knew we could resonate with the statues even though literally no one else can. Also paimon literally tells us where to go like 90% of the game, just like how a king commands its pawns.
Paimon says that you should start with the God of Anemo because you're literally in the God of Anemo's country. That's it. Also, Paimon was legitimately surprised by the fact that you could borrow elemental power from the statues and states that it's not at all common for people to be able to do that. (Also the King doesn't command the pawns. The player does. The player that also commands the king.)
@@Unethical.FandubsGamesthe weird thing is that in-game picture shows that "Paimon fishing incident" happened in Liyue Guyun Stone Forest area, then somehow they appear near Monstadt shores 2 months later. Like why did they start not in Liyue?
Yeah and kazuha once said paimon’s smell is like the star (while the traveller is both wind and geo) which leads us to the theory that paimon real identity is a god from celestia or some kind of creature not originally come from this world, not to mention her name is literally demon name as well as Baal Morax, Barbatos etc. of the gods in the game
You know if the Slime theory is right. The Pyro slime exploding after dying might be a sign of the Archon's future death. Then you realize the Anemo Slime also has a weakness. They became vulnerable from projectiles when they start flying. Meaning, Venti might die when he starts flying. And I think my prediction is he's gonna die while trying to bring us up to Celestia = Anemo slime producing wind current after dying.
"is there a hidden meaning behind the loading screen" you know a game's lore can get more than a little nuts when someone says this completely unironically
During venti's story quest I beleive , we're told that archons can be born out of nothing when they're needed (how venti used to be a gust of wind but he suddenly gained a body) , maybe paimon was created for the goal of joining the traveller and freeing tevyat . Or something like that that's my own theory
It’d be gods not Archons, and they’re in a way just bigger coalesced forms of elements like slimes. All up to happenstance. Plus, Venti only got his body after Decarabian died and he took the Anemo power that would’ve otherwise blown half of Mondstadt apart, he made said body out of pure Anemo energy
@@alexanderpadilla1449 Yeah its just that people tend to use him more often when referencing the main character. Technically both would be canon as miHoYo literally stated that.
They’ll probably be on deaths door because something from the Abyss’ side latched onto them, and we’ll have to battle bigger bosses to get the ingredients / items to separate the two of them - in the archive for the dendro slime it states “… and some see it as a slime that has been parasitized by some special plant.”
@@QuangVinhTran-mb8fk the electro gnosis is clearly inspired by the standard bishop piece design, as we have seen on the Sumeru Archon quest. It in no way resembles a horse.
Some more stuff about Paimon possibly being the god of time: - Her scarf and particles has the same pattern as the clock in the setting - When we pause the game, only Paimon moves - Albedo theorises that her power can make Springvale's waterfall flow backwards - The Ars Goetia describes Paimon as knowing many things, including the winds - It also says that Paimon can see into the past and future
^ also adding to this, she definitely has some connection with celestial stuff, even kazuha stated that she smelled like stars. I find it superrr sus that she denied it immediately after he stated it..
And don’t forget that you can’t move any piece of you don’t move the pawn or the knight before, meaning that according to the video, and our theory here, those two archons might have a quite important role
Late to this but with the new Sumeru teasers, the slime being connected to the archon makes a lot of sense, as the story with the Dendro slimes lines up with the Dendro Archon's current situation in Sumeru.
@@Legendnewer and that’s perfectly valid, sometimes people don’t want something they have to think too much about. Sometimes people just want a fun game to play with pretty characters.
Another reason supporting the "Paimon is the god of time" theory: We've seen gods lose their powers and memories and be traveling companions. Just look at Guoba. He was originally Marchosius, until he used his power all up and lost his memories and shrunk in size and became Guoba. The same could have happened to Paimon. Her powers could have been thinned down and whittled away as the number of people to remember her dropped. Thus causing her to shrink in size and lose her memories. And now she travels with us.
To add to this train of thought. Guoba "woke up" when somebody offered a food item that was related to him. Paimon could have "woken up" ( and found herself submerged in water ) when the traveller popped out of whatever time shenanigans he got wrapped up in. But on the flip side, it took the traveller 2 months surviving on their own to meet up with Paimon, so its a bit of a stretch...
@@MegaHuntress Originally, Paimon is an ancient specimen that are created to guide, she is a Seelie that hasn't changed form. She fell from Celestia and was found by traveller.
paimon being the king makes sense actually in chess, generally in an endgame when there are only kings and pawns remaining, the king protects the pawn to move to the other side to promote and since paimon is the traveler's travelling companion and guides the traveler it might make a bit of sense
@@SuussyBakka no... ? That would ruin everything, if that were the case, than the traveller would get really suspicious and they would figure it out she is a god or something, if I were to guess , she'd probably find a way of avoiding our death by other means and distractions rather than just plainly telling us...
What if the 8th element is actually light/dark. As you mentioned, there is a show of black and white, alternatively shadow and light. The achievements for activating all the Statues of the Seven say “Light up the entire (nation) map” but when we get to activating Teleport Waypoints, it says Unlock. Plus, each Statue says the same thing “The world opens itself before those with noble hearts.” This isn’t just us collecting some part of a map, this is the world opening itself up to us, because of a noble heart. Also there have been multiple mentions of Light devices, especially around Old Mondstadt. And the closest mention to shadows I could find is … a boss drop material from Childe … Now as for Paimon being the forgotten God of Time, I have two things to say about. The Noble heart that I mentioned earlier, might be her heart, because Gnosis in Chinese are called “Heart of God”. And the second thing I have to say is … about the time menu itself, when you go to the time clock, you can see five Latin words on it (the Latin alphabet is in this game, yes) and when I translated the alphabet into English alphabet, I got … “qwert” … you can look into it yourself because I have zero idea what to do with that information, but it might potentially be related to the Time element.
Albedo in his story quest speculated Paimon to be some kind of an external organ So perhaps, the Traveler's power comes from Paimon, not the traveler themself?
The two players may very well be paimon herself (who controls time) and the sustainer (who controls space), both of them securing one of the twins as their trumph card bc both of them can control every element in the game (reflecting how light refracts into every single possible colour or element in this case)
This makes sense though. Lumine is basically on the side of light and Aether is on the side of dark their clothing says it all, but light and dark doesn't necessarily mean good or bad either.
I think the opposing traveller is white just cause when we resonate with So7, our accessories change colour(green/yellow/purple) & when on the quest with dainsleif, first reunion with the other sibling, you can see their accessories is shining white
@@17timesSmoother also, the traveler that mihoyo picked is mostly Aether while Lumine is their usual "Abyss princess"; and we know that the twin who is now the ruler of the Abyss is the twin who woke up first- the one who had the first move. So mihoyo is literally presenting us that Lumine is the white piece since she had the first move. just-food for thought.
I thought the visions are associated with the past of the users and the archon and not random Geo - Persistence and toughness despite the struggle Anemo - Loss of a friend or someone close Electro - High ambitions or achievements Hydro - Strong sense of justice or morality The other archons may have something in common with the users and Celestia just chooses the most similar element to suit them. I'll edit and add more elements.
Cryo ( speculation ): A way of finding a way to get to your goal, no matter what path you take to get there ( basing off of Tsarista's ideals and Kaeya here )
It seems like: Geo - Persistence and determination. Anemo - Grief or loss or something to do with connection. Electro - Dreams and ambition. (Fischl wanted to be the Fischl of the storybooks) Are fair enough. But I don't think Hydro is necessarily about justice and morality. Barbara probably got her Vision because she had an ideal. Same goes for Candace. It's not really about justice and morality with her. She wants to safeguard her people. I don't think justice and morality is enough of an explanation. The hydro archon is supposed to represent those qualities but she's likely to be the furthest thing from those qualities.
Here's another one for you. The Tsaritsa sees something we don't. She's not taking the pieces off of the board, she's *castling*, an advanced defensive maneuver in which the rook and king move toward each other in order to put the king into a more defensible position while simultaneously mobilizing the rook, but in order to castle, the squares between the king and rook must be empty. The Tsaritsa is betting everything on her ability to protect Paimon, even being willing to sacrifice the other pieces in the process.
thats a really great point but i do have a question then: why does the other rook needs to vanish? i know the move you are referencing but not all the rules, is it only allowed with one rook left?
@@firby7341 It's allowed with more than one rook remaining, the only restrictions are that the space the king and castling rook will occupy must be empty, and the king and rook must be in their starting positions before the maneuver. The Tsaritsa didn't have to take Morax's gnosis, and in fact I think he's in on it. He agreed to the contract, after all.
@@riechronicles i suppose Mihoyo juggled with the option of Aether being main protagonist, before making a business decision to let players freely choose between the twins Aether and Lumine as your Traveller. If I were to guess, whoever Childe's teacher was in the abyss is likely one of the opposing pieces, maybe a black rook to mirror the Tsaritsa. If those theories about Childe eventually betraying her are true, he might actively seek his old teacher for help in that arc of the story.

Since you mentioned that Baal (electro) had a bishop gnosis by associating the shape of the statue, and positing that hydro archon has a knight gnosis, it is also very suspect that the two revealed abyss elite units have a similar motif. she also has the symbol of celestia on her clothes, the star symbol that is often showed on characters that come from Kheanri'ah as well as the twins' clothes and some of their other stuff, it is also shown all over the game and is the shape of the 'portal' the unknown god comes out of (after she comes out it forms three stars), Paimons clothes also have the pattern that is shown on the bottom of some of the statues of the seven (Venti's and Zhongli's to be specific) the fact that she has the at the bottom of her sleeves and the bottom of her pants just as it is placed at the bottom of the statues. Don't get me wrong though, the symbol is also shown on some of the pillars that we see in the loading screen before the game starts so it might not mean she's a god specifically maybe she's just an extremely valuable piece of Teyvat. I'm not quite sure myself but I definitely agree when you say Paimon may be suspicious.
its gonna be a bit of a stretch but hear me out, the "other player" is traveler's sibling. she already has travelled the land of teyvat before we woke up so we can assume she has already gotten all the elements(either from the statue of the seven like us or from the opposing team's gods) and possibly been able to combine them all and harnessed a power that has let them "jump the board" and became a player themself, taking control of the opposing "black" chess pieces.

It’s too similar for Paimon’s reference to the “Ars Goetia” for it not to be unintentional, clearly Mihoyo knew about “King Paimon” and heavily based his description similar to Paimons (you can find this on the wikipage about King Paimon in Ars Goetia) King Paimons personality is mainly described as “Loud noises and bright lights tend to make him more active. He is can also be surprisingly very colorful and very friendly. ( While also having large amounts of hatred for mortals) “Out of all the Goetia demons, Paimon has some of the strongest loyalties to Lucifer.” Almost like how Paimon is loyal to Lumine and Aether, “He has an unnaturally loud voice and when continuing speaking at such ear-splitting volume the summoner has to command Paimon to alter his speech in order to understand him” 𝙸𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚌𝚛𝚒𝚙𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚍𝚘𝚎𝚜𝚗𝚝 𝚜𝚌𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚖 𝚙𝚊𝚒𝚖𝚘𝚗 𝚒𝚍𝚔 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚍𝚘𝚎𝚜. “He can reveal answers to such mysteries as the nature of the Earth, the location of the Abyss, and the origin of the wind. Since everyone's behind, Fontaines Archon is named Focalor. Also in the ars goetia, destined to return to hell after 1000 years of drowning innocents in the sea. Also, Fontaine is right above Celestia. Lol now speak about that instead of the level 1 stuff
@@RavanaMuse chill.... we're not some kind of no-liver to actually open ars goetia or something and read all the pages to understand anime game with gambling addiction as its business model.
this kinda makes sense, Tsaritsa might be the only archon daring enough to try to fight against celestia (sustainer of heavenly principles), but not directly... by collecting all the gnoses and weakening the player, basically serving it for the other player. She knows that she can't deal with the celestia on her own so she is doing all she can to weaken it so the other player can take it out
As far as I know we never found out what Zhongli contract was in return for his gnosis, maybe he thinks it's the only way to fight the heavenly principles.
8:10 paimon also shows up when you pause the game where you pretty much pause time, almost like she's the one pausing time. more proof that paimon's the time archon!
Plus, during tartaglia s fight, when the ground breaks and the floor crumbles you fall. BUT when you fall you stay in the air for a bit, everything else is still kind of falling but you and paimon aren’t. Also, for raiden shogun, when she is about to kill you, there is no way Thoma was fast enough to lift up a spear and throw it at raiden fast enough for you to no be cut in half, perhaps paimon helped? This would also explain why she can float, she just stops the time underneath her.
Also may I add that in 2.0 update, there's a dialogue about Paimon claiming (maybe jokingly, maybe not) that she's the god of protection who tries to protect Traveler. If you read Sacrificial Sword's lore, it describes about the God of Time and the God of Anemo. Interestingly, it states more or less "the story of courage to protect" or something.
Paimon didn't joke. The tone used in English doesn't really match with some other voices. Paimon seemed to have a monologue until Traveller talked. In that monologue, she was talking about a herb in Inazuma and how she has to protect the Traveller in the same way the herb protects other plants
@@yukishiro3287 Yup, personally I think she's not joking. I used CN voice btw! But there's no hard evidence whether she's 100% serious or "joking", hence why I put "maybe jokingly, maybe not" there hehe. I mean joking about the god of protection part, not the protecting part :o

Paimon is my favourite character afterall :D
There's still the Dark Sea and the abandoned gods from the Archon War. There's a possibility we'll explore the Dark Sea which also has multiple regions. Those abandoned gods may be the representation for the opposing side of the board.
@@AlixRaph The dark sea was already mentioned as the Black Sea in the beta map, maybe Il Dottore will make a poison from the power of the dark sea to poison the Irminsul Tree of Sumeru
i like the thought that time is the eighth element. it'd basically mean it is the most important but also the weakest element. without the king, the game is over, but the king himself cannot do anything. paimon is the one who guides us through the game, without her we cannot play. however she herself doesn't have a huge impact on the actual game.
MY THEORY: When Scaramouche said that the sky is a lie, he probably witness something about "who are the PLAYER" .(The player of the chess pieces) Maybe he saw that the world of Tevyat is just a big chess board ANOTHER Theory for who's the opposing side: It will simply be the "Angels". Because all the archons have the name/representation of the DEVILS name from The Lesser Key of Solomon, there is a book about The Minor Key of Solomon which is the 72 ANGELS which is assigned to "control" the demons. But for who's the one representing them in-game...probably have never been mentioned But HEY,thats just a theory, A GENSHIN THEORY
So the world of teyvat isn’t a chess board. Basically the best way to explain it is teyvat is actually just a bubble world and it’s the version of the world before honkai. Teyvat lies on something called the imaginary tree that holds millions of other worlds
Kinda remind of one of the loading screen sentences "Time 'flies' when contemplating life, the universe and everything" and Paimon does indeed 'floating' all the time
I have a few thoughts on the king gnosis: Option 1: The Unknown God has it Option 2: Some hypothetical boss of the UG has it Option 3: The Traveller will be given it by Celestia because events will force them to Option 4: The King Gnosis does not currently exist, but the Tsarista is gathering the other ones in order to merge them together into the King.
@@atriyakoller136 A rook trying to defy fate and be a queen sounds interesting. If anything, in chess only the Pawn can turn into a Queen, right? That means, if Paimon really is the King, and Venti's gnosis is taken away, then the Traveller can stand in and be the next Queen once the traveller reaches the end of the chessboard. Or in other words, the end of the journey. A pawn becoming the most powerful piece on the board.
If we associate Paimon as the God of Time, and Dainsleif as the opposing king due to him also being related to the traveler, could we assume that the abyssal element is Space? In the cutscene where the 2 travelers meet each other, the one from the abyss seems to tear through space maybe hinting that the abyss uses the power of space. Although maybe this is all wrong because you previously said that no one can take the form of the king’s element, but we can see the traveler as well as the abyss herald using it at the hanging statue in the act IV prelude quest, or maybe they don’t exactly use Dainsleif’s power as theirs is more purple compared to Dainsleif’s blue
Only the Queen piece can move in different direction signifying freedom, which is why Venti has the queen gnosis. If you can notice we are able to manipulate the time in the game, we can possibly control it due to paimon's presence
Theory: Right before khaenri'ah's destruction, paimon travelled forward through time in order to not be destroyed alongside it. Then ending up with the traveler after being saved. If you look at Dainsleif and Paimon, you can spot a lot of similiarities in their designs. Both have a cape that resembled the night sky and 4 sided stars in their clothing(For paimon it's in her hair). When fast forwarding/pausing the game, Paimon always appeared which is a little bit impossible to not have any purpose to it. Notice that you can only pause and forward time but never rewind it. There was also a theory that Khaenri'ah was an island near Mondsdadt. With the island of wind and time being in the middle of both nations. We first met paimon not too far from speculated location of Khaenri'ah. Once paimon went to the future, she might've fell into the sea and almost drowned.
This theory is actually so underrated and smart! I completely agree. This could just be a coincidence but the mysterious island not on the map is the closest to the theorized place of Khaenri’ah and appears to have a time related mechanism on it. I think the fact it’s not on the map and it’s closest to Khaenri’ah may elude that it actually was a part of Khaenri’ah. Not to mention how degraded it was. One other thing is the ruin guard on the island. Ruin guards are speculated to being tied to Khaenri’ah and the abyss. How did it get on that island? Since ruin guards are usually protectors I believe that the people of Khaenri’ah may have placed a ruin guard there to defend the mechanism. Of course this could all be coincidental but it is interesting.
@@spadedqueen184 Oh my god. They said the God of Wind used to be worshipped alongside the God of Time, until the God of Time vanished from history. What if she vanished because THAT'S EXACTLY when Paimon decided to travel to the future? And THAT'S when she was technically erased from the current history then? What irks me is that Barbatos/Venti doesn't seem to give any indication that he knows who Paimon is though, despite being worshipped with her.
The god of wind prior to venti is decarabian. It might be that paimon and decarabian is somewhat related. Zhongli who is the oldest of the archons kept his mouth shut due to some contract
@@aureliaavalon That made me realised... perhaps that's why Venti woke up after sleeping for 500ish years around the same time as when the Traveller fished Paimon out, because he sensed the god of time's presence. That may be also why he slept at around 500 years ago, because after he sensed the god of time's disappearance, he decided that there was no point in the people worshipping him without the god of time by his side so he decided to go into a deep sleep. As for why Venti didn't recognise Paimon... hmm perhaps the time travel took up too much of her power until she was unrecognisable? Just like how Zhongli did not recognise Kun Jun to be a part of Azhdaha because the power left inside Kun Jun was so little that he faded away after we fought Azhdaha.
Watching this a year later, with the dendro archon “hiding their appearance due to some force outside of their control”. That’s exactly what she did. The accuracy is crazy!
If you look in the traveler’s bio, it says: “The keeper is fading away (the sustainer); the creator has not yet come. But the world shall burn no more, for you shall ascend.” Perhaps the creator is the opposing player, and the sustainer disappears and the traveler becomes the other player. Just an idea.
Could it mean that our mc will be the successor of the unknown god? I smell bad ending where the mc has to fight their sibling, or worse, killing each other. Seeing how our mc befriends all the known archon
Dain and paimon are even more alike. As paimon is the travel companion of the current sibling, dain is the travelling companion of the other twin. As mentioned by dain himself in his quest. 🧐
Also, does Aether and Lumine's different stats have any role in this? I still find it weird that they have made Lumine's base Atk higher than Aether's despite the two being optional characters to play as that should mean they have the same stats.
nah I think that it’s because of how lumine was probably the main dps/attacker when they were fighting together and aether kinda like a tanker. We can see how aether hits towards the ground and lumine higher up, also showing that they probably covered each other’s backs before

Now that you talk about the pair of element, I noticed that the samachurls in a pair also have kind of similar skill. Geo and cryo both create pillars of the same elements. Dendro one can summon three thorny vines and electro can summon lighting totems (which I believe to be 3 per samachurl at max). Pyro samachurl isn’t in the game yet so we can not say anything about the hydro - pyro pair (Sorry if I made any mistakes, English is not my first language)
Considering everything mentioned about the god, yes, I think that's essentially already confirmed. Original archon is dead and the only one of authority mentioned is referred to as a "lesser lord" and not an archon. It's also mentioned that the current dendro archon is "doing nothing" in the wake of folly.
Don’t forget the rest: “… and some regard it as a slime that has been parasitized by some special plant.” We can take that to mean something from the Abyss is attached and disfiguring them, so they might cover themselves with a hooded cloak at all times, or have locked themselves away and speak from behind curtains / a screen
My thoughts: The other player fighting against the unknown god is US the real game player. Maybe. I reach this conclusion because at the start of the game in the cinematics, the Unknown God tells us to pick a side... to pick a sibling... to pick.. a color... So, the game really begins when you have pick a sibling and that's when we play the game of chess. We first met paimon, the king on our side. Why? because she dictates every move that the sibling that we choose. She tells us to do this and that.. like.. commanding a soldier. When it's time to speak, the pawn/soldier never speak before its king. The one doing the speaking is the King................ and in the game itself, you have experience it.. The only time we really do speak is when we're speaking to paimon at the beginning and never spoken again even when we faced our other sibling. Yes I know, we do speak in the game but not with a voice. The only time we can hear our sibling of choice voice is when we talk to them (using the voice line in the menu) but maybe my theory is copium. Also if you realize, Venti and Zhongli being a true archon requires slime condensate to "ascend" to the next level meanwhile Raiden Shogun (Ei) who is a "shadow" of Electro Archon "Makoto" requires no slime material and instead using steel (katana handguards) because she's using a puppet's body. Btw, what do you think about the sky frost nail in the dragonspine? is it some form of a pillar gate from celestia? or maybe it used to be Paimon's statue of the seven but because she was and is still forgotten by the people of Teyvat, the statue crumbles and Paimon shrink in size, losing most of her powers and memories? She lost it maybe because People of Khaenri'ah used to worship Paimon and now that they cannot worship Paimon any longer, she lost most her powers. The nail depiction looks really familiar of that the pillar part of the statue of of the seven. Maybe it differs in size because paimon the archon time having "Time" powers and no human can defy the power of time.
This is nice but we do speak when Keqing asks us what is the price we want. The traveler says "Well could you help me put up some missing posters?" In their own voice while Paimon is there.
Very interesting video! But there is something I have to nitpick on: the names from the Ars Goetia. The seven Archons are not the only ones with those names. Consider Decarabia(n), Marchosias (Guoba's true name), Osial (possibly either Ose or Orias), Havria (Havres, also known as Flauros), the Heart of Naberius in Albedo's backstory, Orobashi (Orobas), Andrius (Andras)... even the Unknown God's model is called Asmoday within the game files. My personal headcanon is that they are the names given to the *candidates* for position of Archon, and Paimon is also one such candidate that has, perhaps, been forgotten by time. Which brings me to a second thing that I'm surprised you didn't mention: Erosion, in relation to the God of Time. The game really emphasizes how the ravages of time erase memories, leading to many things to be forgotten by all - such as the God of Time themselves. This also plays a big part in Zhongli and Ei's stories, and will undoubtedly be explored more as the story progresses. Who knows, perhaps the God of Time no longer remembers that they're the God of Time.
Mayyyybeeee the god of time passed bc nobody worshipped him and Paimon was/is the next to be God of time (explaining her abilities in the game to pause and fast forward and disappear) but for some unknown reason Paimon doesn't remember much of her past and thus never ascended as God of Time. Paimon is one of a kind and Mihoyo has hinted she is pretty powerful or maybe she's a spy from Celestia so she can become the god of time(?) Idk 😂 it will probably take some years before we know the truth
@@idkwhattousehere A spy from Celestia sounds really interesting to be honest, but I hope she doesn't turn out to be evil. I'm so tired of that trope, of the main character's best friend actually having been evil this whole time, and now they have to fight them and, just ugh. Yoimiya put it the best in her quest, why can't good things stay good? If they do that, I pray she has a change of heart at the end, where she realizes what she has been doing, and stops. It's at least better than her being the big bad the whole time, in my opinion.
7:45 Theory: what if Paimon is not an Archon, but a moving, talking statue of the eight - the only statue of the unknown eighth god? Her design does look like a statue of the seven, and the "paimon menu" actually holds a "level" like the other SoS' - it's your AR.
you know what a good theory is when your head starts hurting after you finish the video, what if the twins are not in the chess board at all but instead, they are the ones playing chess?
It make sense kinda Because The other sibling (depends on who you pick) will be in the abbys which is the "dark" side The one you play is in the "light" side But theory will stay theory until the game finished
I mean, when we consider that the twin siblings are Pawns, that means they can ascend to Bishops, Knights, Rooks, or Queens once they reach the end of the chessboard to assist the King. So in a way, the Traveller is like the deciding factor to winning or losing, definitely viable for them to be the player.
@@quackquackDUCKS apparently the true cannon of the game is with aether as the traveler, and since his sister woke up first she "moved" first hence her white clothes and his black (since white always moves first in chess).
i believe it makes more sense that the pawns of the archon side are their servants paimon's being traveler, venti's being dvalin, zhongli's being azhdaha, and ei's being yae, gold's being his dragon. this also implies that zhongli's oposing side, osial might be or have a master/servant
I’m more interested in the fact that I Dain and the sibling used to be traveling companion like how Paimon and the traveler is. Imagine Dain was fished out of a pond
💀what if the pairing is Paimon and Dainseilf with opposing king chest piece LMAO Edit : I think it might be possible since the sibling had Dain as their partner, and with the whole syzygy thing maybe dain and Paimon are a pairing. (the following is just a crazy assumption and shouldn't be taken seriously). Since Paimon can let us fast forward the time in the menu, what if Dain can go back in time? Then that's how we can go to Khaenriah later on in the game?
Now that I think about it, we found paimon in monstadt (where she was used to be worshiped just like venti) and when we pause the game she Is the onlyone who can still move sugesting that "maybe" she can control the Time, also from her pause menu you can "control" the time of the day.
I think the opposing player is a leader of the Abyss, whoever it is, as Paimon said at the end of the Traveler quest, we don't know if our sibling is highest in the Abyss.
Considering that regardless of whether you pick Aether or Lumine, both of them are considered "royal children" in terms of ranking in the Abyss (as in Prince and Princess), so there SHOULD at least one, if not TWO powers above. Well, unless it's title naming in the logic of Mario where the 3 female regents are Princesses for some reason yet the male ones are Kings
This is incredibly convincing and thorough! I’m excited now because I believe that this theory is correct and I want to see how it plays out. I appreciate all the world building that went into the chess metaphor too. I also think that since the sustainer of heavenly principles was the one that destroyed khaenriah, and is probably the leader of celestia, then she might be the “player” on the white side. Since khaenriah is now the abyss order, by that logic the player on the black side would be the abyss order top leader.
After watching the video, I'm beginning to think that maybe Aether and Lumine are the players who are on this board to complete their objectives by using the different elements as chess pieces and by interacting with the archons
Copying this from my reddit: Currently there are only three types of Whopperflowers in-game: Pyro, Cryo, and Electro Notice that there are no Anemo or Geo Whopperflowers. Then notice how we didn't have any direct battle/conflicts against their respective Archons as we played their Archon Quests. We did have a fight against the Raiden Shogun, and there exists Electro Whopperflowers. This speculation could be easily overturned with each Nation's release (particularly Sumeru and Fontaine), but if those Nations get released without their respective elemental Whopperflowers, and their corresponding Archons treated us similarly to how Venti and Zhongli treated us, they maybe we could correlate the existence of Whopperflowers of an element as an indicator of the possibility of conflict between the Traveler and the element's Archon.
Also we can say about spectre too, we have anemo, geo and hydro, we can think they will treat us kindly, anemo and geo no one has fight then, we just help them and go on without any anger from the archons towards us, maybe it will happen to hydro too.
I'll give you credit, you make a very good argument for the Traveler(s) being the Pawn(s). However, I still have my own theory that I like a bit better. My theory is that the Travelers are the players, one with Celestia and the Archons while the other is with the Abyss and the Heralds. For team Celestia the Archons are the chess pieces and the vision holders are the pawns, specifically the ones that were shown in the story trailer, Diluc, Ningguang, Ayaka, etc. I believe these seven will be promoted to archon status as the new seven Archons when the Teyvat story line is over. And for Team Abyss the Heralds are the pieces with the mages being the pawns. The Heralds and mages aren't as powerful as the Archons but there are more of them. Quantity over quality. This theory however can be easily disproven over time if any of the characters in that Teyvat story line trailer ends up with a repeating vision. For this to work the remaining four characters can't have a Pyro, Geo, or Cryo vision or repeat visions with each other. Should that happen, then I'd be all on board with your "Travelers are the Pawns" theory. On a side note (and if you've read this far) I have another piece of evidence that links Paimon with the gods of Teyvat that a lot of people seem to be overlooking. And that is the corrupted teardrop. the red teardrop hurts vision holders when they touch it but not us, so we as the traveler were given it to hold on to. But people forget that when we first find the red teardrop we the traveler are not the ones who pick it up and carry it around with us, it was Paimon. She is the one who takes it and is the one who brings it out for Liza to look at, and this explains why it doesn't get purified before that since we weren't the ones that were carrying it. So not only does Paimon not get hurt by the corrupted teardrop but it doesn't get auto purified being in her possession. The only other character that does this is Venti. Only Venti and Paimon can hold this stone without being hurt and without changing it's properties. I'm surprised not more people point this out.
"For this to work the remaining four characters can't have a Pyro, Geo, or Cryo vision or repeat visions with each other. " Remaining four characters? What do you mean? "Only Venti and Paimon can hold this stone without being hurt and without changing it's properties. I'm surprised not more people point this out." That is the absolute best place to hide something so important: in the beginning of the game when players aren't being all that attentive to small details like that. I know I didn't notice it. Though there's one problem. Paimon doesn't *seem* to wield elemental powers. And we never saw a regular person get hurt by Dvalin's Tears. It could just be that, as she often says: Paimon's Paimon. Though I personally do think she has a very significant role to play in the game eventually, and I can't wait to see what it is!
@@PhotriusPyrelus Remaining four characters? What do you mean?" I think the characters that were shown in the Teyvat chapter storyline trailer will become the next set of Archons but for that to work they can't share any elements with each other for that to work. It wouldn't make since to have two Pyro Archons and have one of the remaining elements left out. But since we don't know what the other four characters will be yet, this theory is still up in the air.
You know…this game always gave me a “No game No life” vibe with the world traveling, and chess pieces for each nation and everything. Even more vibe when the main character of “No Game No Life” are two NEET otakus, and Mihoyo’s slogan just happens to be “Tech otakus can save the world”.. 😆
In the archon quest, Yae mentioned that the traveler is yet to be given a vision or something. A wild idea came to me that maybe this unknown element will be the traveler's vision.
This is completely something else: when Venti plays the holy de lyre, Dvalin comes up the mountain with the abyss mage. While this is normal, the sky is not, you can see Celestia in the background behind Dvalin. Just wanted to share - it fascinated me lol.
A little theory on the Black and White Pieces, and which one are we: If we consider that Aether is the canon traveler and lumine is the canon Abyss princess and the colors on their clothes, this would make us the black side, and the Abyss would be the white side. Also, Aether has a white scarf and, in my eyes, this IS hinting a possible change of side on Khaenri'ah's Chapter, probably. Now, I know this causes a bit of a problem in chess, since, there are no situations in which you can force a change of side on any pieces, but if we consider the line of the Jester on the Fatui's trailer: "Because on "this chessboard, checkmate is NOT where the game ends" this would mean that the traditional rules of chess are far less restricted here, so you CAN force a change of sides and you CAN make a pawn become a king, although you need to do a very hard set of steps in order to do so, what those steps are: I HAVE NO IDEA. Still, I hope you give me your opinion on this theory and tell me if you think I'm right or wrong. Thanks for reading
omg this made me think abt sum things !! in chess the white side goes first (the twin who joins the abyss, who’s implied to canonically be lumine, the one in white) whereas the black side goes after (aether, the twin who wakes up after lumine has finished what she’s done)

It’d be gods not Archons, and they’re in a way just bigger coalesced forms of elements like slimes. All up to happenstance. Another reason supporting the "Paimon is the god of time" theory:
We've seen gods lose their powers and memories and be traveling companions.

Cryo ( speculation ): A way of finding a way to get to your goal, no matter what path you take to get there ( basing off of Tsarista's ideals and Kaeya here )
@@Freakcoded nope
It seems like:
Geo - Persistence and determination.
Anemo - Grief or loss or something to do with connection.
Electro - Dreams and ambition. (Fischl wanted to be the Fischl of the storybooks)
Are fair enough.
Don't get me wrong though, the symbol is also shown on some of the pillars that we see in the loading screen before the game starts so it might not mean she's a god specifically maybe she's just an extremely valuable piece of Teyvat.

You just said everything I’ve been thinking
Paimon is one of a kind and Mihoyo has hinted she is pretty powerful or maybe she's a spy from Celestia so she can become the god of time(?) Theory: what if Paimon is not an Archon, but a moving, talking statue of the eight - the only statue of the unknown eighth god? Her design does look like a statue of the seven, and the "paimon menu" actually holds a "level" like the other SoS' - it's your AR.
Timmie is the other player ez. When you kill his birds he actually justs creates them again and usually uses them to observe the world
Paimon's crown is unusual and could be a reference to the arms of a clock.

Seeing this video in 3.4, IT STILL MAKES A WHOLE LOT OF SENSE
you know what a good theory is when your head starts hurting after you finish the video, what if the twins are not in the chess board at all but instead, they are the ones playing chess?
You know I was thinkinh this too the last big bodies are the twins
It make sense kinda
Because
The other sibling (depends on who you pick) will be in the abbys which is the "dark" side
The one you play is in the "light" side
But theory will stay theory until the game finished
I mean, when we consider that the twin siblings are Pawns, that means they can ascend to Bishops, Knights, Rooks, or Queens once they reach the end of the chessboard to assist the King. So in a way, the Traveller is like the deciding factor to winning or losing, definitely viable for them to be the player.
@@aureliaavalon yes when they reached the end of the chess right?
@@quackquackDUCKS apparently the true cannon of the game is with aether as the traveler, and since his sister woke up first she "moved" first hence her white clothes and his black (since white always moves first in chess).
i believe it makes more sense that the pawns of the archon side are their servants paimon's being traveler, venti's being dvalin, zhongli's being azhdaha, and ei's being yae, gold's being his dragon. this also implies that zhongli's oposing side, osial might be or have a master/servant
ok that just seems so cool about Osial having a servant
Abyss was planning on weaponizing Osial too. Venti’s opposing side would have Durin.
I’m more interested in the fact that I Dain and the sibling used to be traveling companion like how Paimon and the traveler is.
Imagine Dain was fished out of a pond
💀what if the pairing is Paimon and Dainseilf with opposing king chest piece LMAO
Edit : I think it might be possible since the sibling had Dain as their partner, and with the whole syzygy thing maybe dain and Paimon are a pairing. (the following is just a crazy assumption and shouldn't be taken seriously). Since Paimon can let us fast forward the time in the menu, what if Dain can go back in time? Then that's how we can go to Khaenriah later on in the game?
after fontaine, it makes so much sense when neuvi said that the gnosis were made from descenders, the traveler being one
Now that I think about it, we found paimon in monstadt (where she was used to be worshiped just like venti) and when we pause the game she Is the onlyone who can still move sugesting that "maybe" she can control the Time, also from her pause menu you can "control" the time of the day.
Who knows, both the travelers and mc are themes on stars as well, as well, Paimon is also the only one able to move when the game is paused as well
Also the location where paimon was supposedly fished out was not far away from that Island with time dial monument
@@zenzenitha wow, yeah now that you mention it that Is true, nice one
When we start the game, time is paused, if you haven't noticed. Paimon possibly stopped time because of her drowning.
I think the opposing player is a leader of the Abyss, whoever it is, as Paimon said at the end of the Traveler quest, we don't know if our sibling is highest in the Abyss.
Imagine if our sibling ends up being the final boss, like I can’t wait to give Aether and old fashioned whooping for what her did
Perhaps the first heir who went after the pearl but got corrupted (battle pass story).
@@herrscheroftheend1963 Wow, that means if I main Aether. I can swing my golden sword at her as punishment for being away at his brother.
Yep it actually makes sense with the loading screen itself, every element is covered through time and only means Paimon is the king.
After watching the video, I'm beginning to think that maybe Aether and Lumine are the players who are on this board to complete their objectives by using the different elements as chess pieces and by interacting with the archons
Copying this from my reddit:
Currently there are only three types of Whopperflowers in-game:
Pyro, Cryo, and Electro
Notice that there are no Anemo or Geo Whopperflowers.
So we will fight pyro archon😳😳😳
@@rasyid7202 😳😳
@@rasyid7202 since she's the God of war, it wouldn't be surprising if she wanted to fight us

@@PhotriusPyrelus
Remaining four characters? What do you mean?" I think the characters that were shown in the Teyvat chapter storyline trailer will become the next set of Archons but for that to work they can't share any elements with each other for that to work. It wouldn't make since to have two Pyro Archons and have one of the remaining elements left out. But since we don't know what the other four characters will be yet, this theory is still up in the air.
Natlan dude seems pretty pyro to me tbh
@@OokamiNoKishi 6 months later cyno is confirmed to have an electro vision

You know…this game always gave me a “No game No life” vibe with the world traveling, and chess pieces for each nation and everything.
Even more vibe when the main character of “No Game No Life” are two NEET otakus, and Mihoyo’s slogan just happens to be “Tech otakus can save the world”.. 😆
now since you said that i'm also getting those vibes lol
wait I get those vibes too now😭
In the archon quest, Yae mentioned that the traveler is yet to be given a vision or something. A wild idea came to me that maybe this unknown element will be the traveler's vision.
I wonder if the traveller is given the unknown element as a vision if they could become the God of said element
