Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has joined in March Sadness so far. It’s been a blast to share my thoughts with you, and even better to read your comments on these records!

I never really got in to Spanish love songs, I saw the open for hot mulligan and then headlining a show but I was there for Heart Attack man but some songs do resonate with me, specially Kick, but I do get why they are so loved!

I also had a period where RUclips was continually pushing them to me. But I managed to defeat the algorithm it seems... lol

LOVE this band! Their latest album is amazing and their cover of the song Funeral is one I can't stop listening to!

Finally someone put in words how I feel about my favorite nihilism band. Brave Faces, Everyone has to be in my top 3 albums of all time and literally dragged my depressed ass through 2020. Yet you won't find it nowhere in my Spotify top listens because it just hits so heavily.
Also, hearing it live last year for the first time was such an emotional rollercoaster, lol. After the show, I got to chat with Dylan for a little bit and I said: "Oh, and btw, thanks for making me cry for half of the set." ... his response was: "That's what I'm here for :)" and I feel like that encapsulates the band perfectly :D

Schmaltz was life changing for me in 2019. It perfectly encapsulated how I felt getting old and feeling like I havent accomplished much. Plus songs like Otis/Carl are just soul crushingly sad. All that said I agree that I dont revisit it much. Better left as a footnote in my life. The lyrics on Brave Faces and No Joy never resonated with me as much but I like some songs on each.

I didn't know of Spanish Love Songs until they were on tour with The Wonder Years 2 years ago I think. I got captivated with the songs live and got the CD's at the merch table and spun the heck out of them for a while. But, as time went on the vocals started to wear on me, I still highly like them and spin them some times, but some days I just can't take the vocals. Just sing man! Just sing

In 2020 I keep seeing people online talking about how great brave faces everyone is and I forced myself to listen to it and now this is one of my favorite albums. It’s probably a top 20 of all time for me.

This album is in my top 5 all-time. I had a very similar experience as you when I first found it, absolutely obsessed and playing it every single day. My girlfriend also hated it, until one day I was playing it again and it just so happened to click for her, and now she loves it.

I love this band so much. I look for real raw emotion in music and this group has it so much, his voice does it for me in such a big way, like some Roger waters stuff does and like conners voice in the desparacidios stuff does. another dark band like this is off with their heads, some heavy stuff there too.

Brave Faces Everyone is a killer album tbh. On a side note, there's some sort of mystic I have about albums that came out in jan / feb with suspiciously ominous titles given what happened shortly thereafter, like good lucky everybody by ajj and brave faces everyone.

For me with Spanish love songs I found them in 2018 and liked Schmitz thought it was really goods in 2020 I heard BFE and fell in love I was like this is best pop punk album since NCTH by TWY this may be the best pop punk album ever made it ended up tied with At The Moonbase by Slaughter Beach Dog for my fav album of 2020 and in 2020 I did a ranking of my top ten pop punk albums ever made and it ended up at number 3 behind NCTH and TGG by TWY. But since 2020 I haven’t listened to it as much and when I do listen to it I’m not as in to it I still love Losers 2 to death but idk I don’t feel like coming back to it ever. When they released No Joy I kinda fell off the band I’ll listen to everything they ever do (simply because once I find out about a pop punk or emo band I’ll listen to everything they ever do no matter what even if I’m not a fan) but I just don’t like them as much. No Joy I didn’t love simply because all the synths ruined that album for me. As for BFE I would def not have it as my third fav pop punk album ever anymore. Albums like copacetic by knuckle puck, okay by as it is, living proof by state champs, the peace and the panic and life’s not out to get you by neck deep and more would all be in front of it now. But to this day when I hear losers 2 my mind is blown. Amazing album and amazing band just not one of my favs anymore

I could never get the hype for Spanish Love Songs, no matter how hard I tried. Seeing them live didn’t really help. There was a lot of people I saw giving Brave Faces Everyone perfect scores… that had never listened to The Wonder Years. I like sad music but they’re just suffocating
