Only three makers of note? I have a pair of mint F/L duellers by Joseph Manton but I also have a pair of silver mounted F/L duellers by Durs Egg, ex Keith Neil collection and they are as worthy. And then there was Wogdon ! ! Of my eight pairs of F/L duelling pistols it is the Wogdons that come up most naturally to the "aim." The proverbial extension of the arm.
It is a wonder he did not rifle the barrels? Can't have been easy to push the ball down with a screw top on the ram rod. I saw where he ended up very poor.
This is the hidden gem of firearms channels. You’re like the David Attenborough of guns.
Thanks Pal! High praise indeed. Just started so need to spread the word. And save firearms and collecting in Britain
What a beautiful example of the gunsmithing art! Thank You Very Much! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania

Beautiful pistols, the craftsmanship is so incredibly good it looks like it was made using modern tooling.
You couldn`t make this with any tooling without the immense skill of the gunmakers of old.
I have always loved cased pistols. I have made a few myself for reproduction pistols & reproduction accoutrements.

I heard that most of the Mantons flintlocks have enlarged touch hole for self-priming, is that the case for those pistols?
Lovely look at those. I have a cased set of Twigg coach pistols and a pair of duelling pistols by John Manton regretfully without a case.

that's a so called worm on the ramrod it is just for cleaning the barrel and not to pull a ball it is not possible with that kind !
