Congratulations! I still try to get the negotiator- out of stock all the time. Thx for watching. Please share your experience with us once you play with it.
Thanks, as always, Jack. I have many brewers (including an old Bonavita immersion/perc) and to answer your question, my favourite brewer these days is the large Origami Air. I can use either V-60 02 filters (Cafec Abaca 4) or flat bottom (Kalita 185). A close second is the Next Level Pulsar.
I got mine too recently, and it is a brilliant engineering device, with high quality materials and really well thought out. I'm very happy with the purchase. I got the narrow, and I use the negotiator I already had for my mk3, which works well on the kalita papers. I put the kalita on the negotiator first (bottom side up), pre-wet it with room temp water, then negotiate it into the brewer with a twist. Works like a charm and no need for the super expensive papers 😅
Thx for watching. I am waiting for new negotiator to become available. Never tried Fellow brewer. There should be some difference because of different shape but can’t say for sure.
I wonder if it's possible to use a smaller flat filter(like an aeropress filter), and just "lock" the filter between two parts of orea? If we can do this, then it becomes a cheaper no-bypass solution by using just a small filter (maybe a 1/3~1/4 size sibarist filter).
I don’t think it would work in practice (because of the way the attachments are screwed) but definitely an interesting idea. I am sure that more modules will arrive.
So many options! I have a Hario Switch. Just starting to to play around with pour overs and my df83v. I ground way too fine this morning for the first one I did.
@@mycoffeeshow111 The one I did this morning was over extracted and tasted better than with my Niche zero so once I get the grind right should be good. But I do have the brew burrs to try if i want to switch over. I primarily do espresso though.
Hi Jack, nice video! Love your humor xD I wanted to know if you could see a big change in brewtime between V3 and V4 wide. Also I would love your insights on how the taste differs. Can you taste more body? Is it less acidic in the flavor profile? It'll be my first flat bottom brewer and I wanna make a good decision wether it'll be wide or narrow
Thx for watching. Tbh, I don’t know the answer but your question might be an inspiration for another video. In the meantime, I prefer the workflow of wide orea, easier to pour the water and allows me to brew double batches.
@@mycoffeeshow111 thanks for your quick answer. I'd be super interested in a video answering those and other questions around possible differences in workflow and cup results. I guess, coming from a V60 Switch and sometimes being overwhelmed by an unwanted acidity in cups that I didn't expect it in - I'll go with the wide version. Also cause the easier workflow sounds good to me :)
Thank you for the video! I have an aeropress and picopresso and want to explore more varieties of coffee making as well as brew two cups for me and my +1 on the weekends. Would you recommend this (in wide) versus another pourover style brewer like the origami air M? Thanks!
Thx for watching. You can brew double batch of coffee on it. With my caffeine addiction that is what I normally do. I haven’t tried those two you mentioned so can’t say for sure but if you like to experiment, Orea v4 could be for you.
Thanks for the review! I was wondering if you had more time to compare the V4 wide version to the V3? Which do you prefer? Would you buy the wide version again, or rather go for narrow?
Thx for watching. Both great, but I have lots of fun with this new one. Wider opening makes pouring a bit easier. It can also accommodate more coffee for when I want to do a double batch.
@@meestergud combination of both. I remember they had some issues b4 the pirates. I contacted Orea , wanted to record something with them, since their hq is here in London, but so far they were too busy to answer 😛
Just got the Orea v4, did a 3 pour using the fast base. Zp6 4.3 setting usually 4.5 as thought would go finer. 15g :240. Draw down was like 3.50 sec 😢 used a washed coffee from apollons Gold. Maybe 3 pour is the issue. I used to do 5 pour on my Orea v3
First of all- congratulations- not an easy brewer to buy . I guess it all depends on coffee, filters, recipe and so on. See how it goes with different attachments. I usually go for 5 pours myself.
@@mycoffeeshow111 just did a 5 pour with he Orea v4 open base, a lot of sweetness. Apparently for me the draw down on the open base is faster than the fast base 😳 tho less body but sweet n nice clarity 4.5 grind setting
Hello sir, did you have any Fellow grinder like Ode Gen 2 ? How do you think about Ode vs Comandante C40 or 1Z K-Ultra ? Its pretty the same price, may be +/- 50$ but i just wonder will Ode do the better job than hand grinder for filter :))
Hi, never had one so can’t say for sure. I know you can install ssp burrs in them and that would make them awesome but also more expensive. I am a lazy person so would always go for electric grinder.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I just heard James daddy said thay the second verson of Ode burr is very close to SSP burr but cheaper. The Ode gen 2 come with second verson burr so we dont need to buy any burr else
@@Eirikkinserdal obviously it depends on many factors. When I brew for myself, I don’t really worry about the time that much. For big batche I would say 4-4.30min is ok. If it tastes over extracted I can always grind coarser next time.
The problem with Orea is that they are not able to produce enough and sell at a premium. This only creates a gap that people fill with cheap alternative or a rip off.
So many coffee channels but somehow yours is the funnest and enjoyable one. Thanks for update!
Thank you for watching and your support. I just enjoy playing with coffee 😁
Got mine today, psyched to play. Thanks for your early impressions!

I got mine finally on February 20th after waiting for months! I´m super hyped and can´t wait to start testing, collecting data!

How it compares vs V3 in your opinion?
your a entertaining guy Jack! thanks for the in depth honest review. v4 looks very interesting but I think ill just buy the glass one.
Thx for watching! With my clumsiness, glass one would not survive long 😛
Hi Jack ,can't wait testing the fast with finer grind size comparing to my Orea v3
You will have lots of fun with it. Please share your findings with us here.
Cool! I just got the mk2 and its a nice change from the mk1.
Great. It is difficult to keep up with all the new stuff from Orea 😛
My favorite Brewer is the Hario Switch . Enough Options to play, our simple to use for larger Batches [Size3].
Thx for sharing. That is one brewer I have never had myself.
I love IT, but the Downside, you need too preheat massiv the Glas

I do actually brew bigger batches now, 35g of coffee and 500 of water in 5 pours. Works just about ok but have to keep an eye on liquid level.
