This is what happens when you get a few good drafts in a row, with an exceptional one in 2023. Players in the early drafts come up for new contracts and you have to make choices. Same thing with your coaching staff. If the team does well, those good coaches get poached. Welcome to being a 15-2 team, people. It is now up to DC and Brad to retain the right players and coaches and keep replenishing with young talent on cheap contracts. They can only do so much if coaches are going for promotions and a huge payday. I am concerned about losing Iffy.
We need to keep Levi. He had a really good pressure rate and also helped us on the edge when Hutch and Pascal went down. He was finally healthy hope his back injury is behind him.
They have quite a few guys who were on a 1-year 'prove it' contract who I doubt will be signed. Like Davenport comes to mind -- 'prove you can stay healthy' -- sorry no - gone.
I've seen reports from Twitter/X and on the lions front page that hes made strides in his progress. Injuries sucks and it really showed us this season. I just hope with the now definite promotions and hiring's to occur. I really hope they revamp our strength and conditioning coaches.
In my opinion, Mitchell wasn't a wasted pick, because after Hockenson was traded, the Lions had a 3-headed monster at the tight end position, with all 3 having a great game.
Overall Brad has had some great picks, overall though there’s been a few misses on some picks that were a bit of a stretch, overall though solid GM and best we’ve had basically ever
@markfein462 The last 2 years he brought in Moseley and Davenport as free agents coming off injuries and surprise surprise they both got injured again.
I think James Mitchell was a Dorsey pick. I dont think "wasted" is the right word. I think "miss" is the right word. Brad likes to take chances with players who have injuries but are talented but his track record isn't very good as a result. Mitchell just didn't seem to grasp what the Lions brass asked of him. Can't hit on all of them but if you look at the % of hits on draft picks from this regime vs. past regimes, he is at the top of the list.
@nathanallen6002 I understand that but it was under the recommendation of Dorsey to draft Mitchell. I should've clarified that. It's in the 2021 draft video.
I think he was wasted honestly. Would've beer a good guy to throw some jump balls to in the red zone and would've used him as a H-Back. Just wasn't big enough as a TE.
well, yes its a bust/wasted pick, but it was a 5th round pick. its wasnt a 2nd or 3rd round. to me a 5th is hoping for a decent back-up. if you are really lucky you can find a starter with a late round pick but those are the outliers
this guy is arugably the best lions news reporter (on yt) he gives genuine topics to talk about and he also uses his actual face and no ai
he's one of my favorites too
Ditto
Fr
FACTS
Very True
Good luck to him, hope he has more playing time opportunities at Carolina.
Time to get rid of players that have had no positional impact & find players that can.
He was just good enough to be a bench strength TE. Couldn't beat out our two great TE's.
Wish him best of luck.
Thanks for the videos derrick love them
Always gotta click them notifs man u the best lions channel imo hope to see ya one day at a game

I think giving him a 1 year deal/extension might be in order.
I forgot he was still on the team. But I wish him the best all being said
Derrick, i 100% agree with you, and I hope you are right. Definitely need an upgrade on Defense.
We have to stop taking chances on injury prone players. Best ability is availability
Brock Wright was a UDFA TE from the same class as Mitchell. He has contributed a lot more.
They have quite a few guys who were on a 1-year 'prove it' contract who I doubt will be signed. Like Davenport comes to mind -- 'prove you can stay healthy' -- sorry no - gone.
What do think about holmes signing Justin Fields replacing our current 2QB position he knows the bears defense.
I would be for it if we trade Hendon. This QB class looks weak Fields is better than 25% of current starting QBs, if he is in the right system.
that would be a great signing only if we traded Henson Hooker.
Justin Field deserve netter. He is a starter not backup
Wake me up when we win the Superbowl. The NFL hates the Lions. I don't unfortunately. Go Lions 🦁
As long as Roger Goddell is alive, that will never happen.
As long as we have the skill players of the offense we good
Need to start speaking about Manu and his waste of a pick last year. Third round pick + the pick used to trade for him
I've seen reports from Twitter/X and on the lions front page that hes made strides in his progress. Injuries sucks and it really showed us this season. I just hope with the now definite promotions and hiring's to occur. I really hope they revamp our strength and conditioning coaches.

10 yards a catch sounds like something
A lot of these injured guys will be kept in the loop for depth.
Not a big deal.
Didn’t say it was😉
Late pick not really but we do know the guys we have need time like Levi,Paschal and hopefully Martin
Any pick after the 4th rd are crapshoot picks
Panthers fan here is this guy any good?
Johnson to Chicago is like Patton to the Nazis.
Overall Brad has had some great picks, overall though there’s been a few misses on some picks that were a bit of a stretch, overall though solid GM and best we’ve had basically ever
Broderick Martin, this dude, sorsdal, Jefferson, the db we let go last year, couple WRs that never made it, pascal, Levi o, and imo Barnes
Oh and Houston
Expecting Jermar Jefferson, Levi, and Iffy to be gone
I honestly don’t think Martin is going anywhere until at least mid next year
I can't understand BH's fascination with injured draftees and free agents.
he doesn't really do it anymore. It seems like he took chances in his first two drafts with injured players. He did not do it in his 3 and 4th drafts.
@markfein462 The last 2 years he brought in Moseley and Davenport as free agents coming off injuries and surprise surprise they both got injured again.
say bye to iffy and
moseley
best player is availabilty
plus money is getting tight and Holmes has to much money on the sidelines, sign someone who can play and contribute consistently
Brad's ego won't allow Broderick to be cut, he kept DPJ
DPJ made 1 or 2 crucial catches in 2023 and he's only on our practice squad, Brodric has done nothing.
I think James Mitchell was a Dorsey pick.

No he was Holmes first year pick I think 6th rounder or 4th year he grabbed Penei, brown, and Rodrigo
Was Mitchell even active any games? Zylstra and wright are better fit, Mitchell lost favor after 23
BUT,... Lions do have Wingo coming back and Zeitler/ Some OL guy CAN play TE
Yeah Martin needs to go coaching staff obviously has no faith in him considering he got almost 0 play time even after all the injuries.
James Mitchell didn’t really do anything for us. We also have 3 tight ends already. With Laporta, Wright, Zylstra
Bryce young will make something out of him
I'm waiting on Vildor and Mosely to be gone!
well, yes its a bust/wasted pick, but it was a 5th round pick. its wasnt a 2nd or 3rd round. to me a 5th is hoping for a decent back-up. if you are really lucky you can find a starter with a late round pick but those are the outliers
Iffy is going to be next. Always hurt.
He was a Dorsey pick not really brads choice
Nah I think Barnes, Levi, and Iffy are good i don't think they're going nowhere
Detroit’s latest post on Instagram lions fan not happy with Ben AT ALL and rightfully so
Trade jamo for Crosby ! Watch it happen
Might cost a middle round pick too . With Ben gone Brad may be willing to let Jamo go
3rd string TE
No stats in 2024... Who cares?
Brad needs to cut Broderic martin, the guy has done zero with this team
2024 Picks were all bad. I thought Holmes draft well but this year it was a bust
That's simply not true, Arnold had a solid season wingo looked decent and Mahogany looks like a steal.
Christian is going to start next year. He had the highest offensive PFF against Washington.
Idc it’s freed up money for us
