In 1985 I was 17, I went to Las Vagas with my dad. I Was walking through the casino kind of fast. Well as I was rounding the corner and BAM! I ran smack into Red Foxx & knocked him right on his ass. I was a big kid but his bodyguards were bigger. I thought they were going to kill me, Red hollered stop he didn't mean to do that. He got up shook my hand and went on his way.
Hahahaha. Such a better story than the day you got to shake his hand after a show.

Early comedy used a lot of wordplay, storytelling and poetic devices... I digs that. Today, they still have the storytelling, but not much wordplay or poetry. It's much more physical and situational.

Redd is the goat! I remember my parents having an 8 track of Redd and as a 10 year old laughed at the childless couples.. really lit up my funny bone!
I have an 8-track I found that has 2 programs of Redd Foxx and 2 of Richard Pryor recorded on it. I don't usually keep home recorded tapes, but making an exception for this one.

As a kid in the 70s my parents listened to this guy. It was totally inappropriate and I hated being exposed to this shLt.
I wasn't born during this time and I still wasn't born when he died (born in 1994).. so maybe that's why I don't find any of it funny ... 🤷🏽♀️ I didn't laugh once lol. Ah well.
