It took me days, but I finally figured it out. Soyeons dilema: How do I make a fun, silly, and dumb song that is totally
off brand for (G)I-dle? Answer: Set the song in campy Y2k movie universe then say it was all a dream. Tons of pop culture
references in both videos. Allergy sets us up with our Y2K movie universe theme using the common Y2K trope of ugly
girl (actually pretty girl with glasses, mussed hair, and baggy clothes) wishes she was pretty and popular like the other
girls. She tries and fails a couple times but eventually she takes off her glasses and fixes her hair and gets cool clothes
and becomes a popular/pretty girl. Then she learns that being pretty and popular isn't so great after all, so she goes back
to being a normal girl but now, after seeing that the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side, she is happy just
being herself. The end. In "Allergy" the answer is plastic surgery instead of removing glass, ect... At the end
of "Allergy" we see Soyeon about to go under anesthesia for her procedures that will make her pretty and popular.
In "Queencard", we pick up at the point where the doctors are applying the anesthesia. Now we're in a drug induced dream
world where Soyeon is living the life of a popular/pretty girl. The lyric "I'm a quinka" repeats over and over.
("Quinka" or Queenca" is Korean slang from Y2K meaning "popular girl" or "it girl") In her dream, Soyeon is a "Queenca".
Her English lyrics that were actually pretty good in "Allergy" are now all drunken and comically bad (I mean, they
are purposefully bad). The scenes are chaotic and wild, they rewind, backgrounds are blurry, they intermix the doctors
who are standing around her as doing dance moves, the group members faces change into other members. We see more tropey Y2K
movie scenes. Girl looks hot with wet hair as she emerges from the swimming pool. Dance battle at the club. All campy
movie tropes. Finally, in the ending chorus of the song, the group is dancing in the hospital (reality is getting closer
to her as she regains consciousness). The lyrics "Wearing whatever girl - Queencard", "Thick or thin girl - Queencard",
"Full of confidence girl - Queencard". We see Miyeon leaning over her as she wakes up telling her (paraphrasing) "this is
what it means to be a Queencard". Soyeon pops awake before the plastic surgery and leaves the hospital. She is now
confident that she is a "Queenca" and we can see it in the way she walks, holds her shoulders back, and the expression on her
face. (great acting by the way to go from frumpy and unconfident to beautiful and confident without changing anything about
her make-up or clothes). This was the common Y2K movie trope of "it was all just a dream". but then we get another trope
from those times when Soyeon starts getting likes and follows on an insta photo that seems to be from the dream. it's
the "it was all just a dream - or was it?!?!" trope that was pretty common in Y2K movies also. So, Soyeon got to have
her fun, silly, dumb bop without it changing the groups brand... or did it?!?!? Pure genius.
I think Soyeon after leaving the hospital is just seeing the world for what it is. If we have convinced ourselves that we are not pretty, or worthy or desirable, then this generally means we think everyone else sees us that way. Having dropped the need to look like the hot girls, and now not worrying about her appearance, suddenly she realises the world doesn't hate her, people like her, she has friends, and probably always did, just too caught up in her own self hatred to know it before.

You're totally right about the videos.
About the brand shifts; a lot so it wouldn't necessarily hurt them. They have a variety of brands and it seems to be their concept is to keep switching concepts.
But the reason for the style pivot; It came out at some point that after the soojin issues that Cube were treating them as if the group was done/dead. Someone told the girls that they had 1 come back but if that under performed that would be it because the soojin controversy was too hot for Cube to carry. CLC got the same talk and fell apart after they had a poor release.
So Soyeon pushed more commercial for that last chance they had. And that was Tomboy. They worked their ass off. They sold more than they ever did and charter better. And they kept working and pushing out bops with nude and now allergy/queencard.

In the previous music video(Allergy), the main character (Soyeon), who went to the operating room because she longed for her friends, was released from anesthesia before the surgery and mistakenly thought that surgery was done and she became pretty (Soyeon=Minnie) and proudly walks around the streets and clubs. Miyeon was jealous when she saw Minnie (Soyeon in the mirror) with a handsome man. The next day, after seeing how confident she was last night even though her appearance hasn't changed, many people follow her on social media saying that she is cool, and she sends a message that the important thing is not my appearance, but my confidence.
That Soyeon and Minnie are the same person can be seen in the Allergy music video. A scene where Soyeon and Minnie run into each other after coming out of the door after the plastic surgery consultation, wearing the same clothes and wearing the same beanie (it wasn't that they actually met, but Soyeon saw herself(=Minnie) in the mirror after the surgery), In the Queencard, The scene where Minni and Soyeon continue to overlap.
Minnie plays dual roles. There’s Minnie the exercise guru that the other girls are jealous of.
There’s Minnie the reflection of what Soyeon will look like after the plastic surgery. ( that’s why Minnie lip syncs Soyeon’s lines on the dance floor)
There was a teaser trailer showing them all ad friends. In Allergy each of them are jealous of each other. Minnie is fit and got the boy Miyeon had a crush on but doesn't have loyal friends. Miyeon has 2 wingwomen but not the boy she likes, Shuhua and Yuqi are jealous of Miyeons wealth and also the attention other girls like Minnie get. And Soyeon is jealous about all of them.
In Allergy, Soyeon dissed NewJeans and specially Minji 🤣🤣

I hope you get to watch the previous (G)I-dle comebacks, they're very enjoyable and makes for a good video!
The dream Soyeon had were events that actually happened the day before the surgery. After looking through social media pictures of the party, she was feeling inferior to the other girls. So she wanted to take the surgery. But after having the trippy dream on the surgery table, she realizes that the things she were jealous of were traits that she already had (as you would notice Soyeon constantly changing places with all of them throughout the video). After realizing that, she got up and didn't go through with the surgery. We get further confirmation that people still loved her as herself with the social media comments.
I highly recommend you reacting to Tomboy and Nxde! Both have exceptional messages and are very different from each other. What I love about (G)I-dle is that you don't know what you're gonna get with each new comeback, but you know for sure it's gonna have a strong message. They really came back strong in the I NEVER DIE album after Soojin's departure.

So Miyeon basically did change sides I guess. So in allergy with the still shots you can see that initially Miyeon Shuhua and Yuqi went to the party together but Shuhua and Yuqi eventually ditched her even though she was dealing with a breakup. Shuhua and Yuqi are best friends which was like established in the character teaser trailer. (Confusing part is that Shuhua eventually ditched Yuqi for the more popular girls which I guess is a separate storyline relating to like typical movie scenarios where people get ditched for the more popular people). Minnie actually looks lonely as you said and doesn’t have many friends even though everyone wants to be like her. Then I think Miyeon chose to get over hating Minnie even though she’s with her ex boyfriend now but became friends with her.
I think you are overthinking it. Miyeon is with Minnie because they needed them to pair up opposite Yuqi and Shua for the dance off. The hug was a definite frenemies hug of the insincere type you see among the `IT` crowd.
@@jars6230 I mean it wasn’t really overthinking was it? What I said about the allergy video still stands. Channels which have analysed the allergy video have drawn the same conclusion. Shuqi ditched Miyeon so naturally she’s gonna befriend Minnie whether it’s intended to be fake or not lmao. I would like to think it was a sincere hug as she glanced at the boy and gives him the side eye so she’s no longer bothered and is trying to be the bigger person. I’d like to think it wasn’t for the sole purpose of being in a dance off as then there would be no clear ending message between those two. Whereas if it was sincere it would convey a positive message. lmaoo but you do you. Down to interpretation
