8:54mins Yeah, I think wear it around the house or downgrade your occasions. For example if you’d normally wear it to a special event then now start wearing it for birthdays or church, stuff like that. Hope this helps. x
@@AimeeRebecca only works if it's a natural fibre material. Polyester needs a lot higher temperature und different dye stuff. In general a good idea though but i also suspect that at least the yarn is 100% polyester and will stay white or a lot brighter colour.
I have 2 leather jackets, both thrifted for $2.50!!! They are both in AMAZING condition. One is from the 1980's and the other from the 90's. I used a leather cleaner & conditioner on them both and they look brand new! So real (thrifted) leather gets my vote👍
I’m about to do a monster-sized closet decluttered, and the same predicament as you. My beautiful clothes don’t fit and just have to go. Meanwhile, I will be left with nothing but sweats, flannels, hoodies and flip flops. I have to remind myself that the things I can’t wear are just getting dustier and dustier, but could have a new life being worn by a thirty shopper. The 2nd option is better all around; gives my closet some breathing room and passes on something nice to someone who will appreciate it. And things don’t end up in the landfill because I hang on to them too long and they go completely out of style.
This was fun - well done! Next time, I’d suggest pulling things out one category at a time. It creates less chaos and then you can see what you have in each category, where there are duplicates, etc. Instead of pleather, there’s of course secondhand leather, coated cotton for that leather look, or moto/bomber jackets in fabrics like tweed, wool or even sweatshirt fabric.
Thank you! When I'm just decluttering for myself, I do it in really small stages but for a video like this, it makes more sense to do it all at once so I can show the whole process. It is intense though! 🙈
I'll never have a capsule wardrobe, but I notice that I pretty much wear the same things each week. 3-4 dresses that are favourites, 4-5 t-shirts, a couple skirts, and then the same workout gear. Regarding the pink dress - I would ask your friend what she wants you to do. If she wants to list it on Vinted herself, fine. If she says she doesn't want it back, list it yourself. Maybe us the profit to take her out to dinner or something. Leather. It's a hard one for anyone. BUT. I justify my leather use by purchasing second hand leather items on Vinted so that way I'm giving someone else's leather a second chance and saving an item from a landfill. My husband has a second hand leather jacket I got him about 13 years ago and it's doing a lot better than the pleather one I had purchased him brand new! Same with boots. A second had pair of DMs have lasted me for over 20 years, but a pleather pair of non DMs ripped in less than 6 months. And I do think about the environmental impact of processing plastic, too. I would keep the black and rose dress. I definitely have had dresses in my wardrobe for years waiting for an occasion and then I finally got to wear it -- even if you just wear it on a night out with your friends or on your birthday.
I'm with you. I reach for a lot of the same things on repeat. It's really helped me understand what I should buy when I'm looking for clothes and what I definitely don't need more of! I think second hand is definitely the way forward. I've had a look on Vinted but I think with something like a jacket I'll need to try it on so I'm on the lookout for a good charity shop
I would ask the friend if they want to sell it on vinted and if not, do it on my own. I also know the leather/pleather dilemma. I do care about the animals but not in every single aspect (for example your display screen contains animal remnants and sugar is filtered through gelatine to become bright white). I do buy leather but mostly secondhand and only if i need it.
Do you consider to maybe count your clothes? I avoid it but if you do I'll have a good reason to do it as well to compare to a normal person and not full blown minimalist where i would only feel bad 😂
I gave old bridesmaid dresses back to my friends so that if they had future daughters they could play dress up with it. I loved playing dress up with my mom's old dresses!
Dye your dress! Or sell it on vinted then go out for a coffee with your friend on the spend! Also vinted is your best friend, charity shops don’t take as much as you would expect so atleast vinted you know it’s going somewhere!
The other problem of pleather is that it uses polyurathane (a plastic) which comes from crude oil so a fossil fuel and isn’t biodegradable so there almost is no ethical answer when it comes to which one to buy. I guess 2nd hand leather might be the most ethical 🤷🏻♀️
This was my thought process. I wasn’t sure what was in it but when I saw the way it had broken up like that, I assumed it was some kind of plastic. Yikes! I guess I’ll be thrifting my jackets from now on and actually that sounds really exciting! 🤩
I would just ask your friend if she wants the dress! If not, do as you will with it. Also, to my knowledge, with the resources that go into the cow when it's alive and the chemicals it takes to make leather, new leather is not more sustainable than vegan leather. But I think the best option no matter which one you choose is secondhand!
Real leather is more sustainable in my opinion as it lasts many years longer than pleather and when you are done with it is a natural matarial in the environment and not synthetic plastic. Maybe find one second hand or if you buy one brand new it would be the only one youd have to buy for many many years

YOU ARE SO COMICAL!! LOVE YOU!
Thank you! 😁
Dye the dress to a colour you’ll actually wear!
I think I need to try this! 🤩

This is what I came here to say!! I’ve done a few dresses with the Dylon machine dyes 🙂

That is the most incredible bargain! I'll have to go on the hunt for one.
8:38 that dress is so gorgeous! Great job!
Thanks!

That’s absolutely the right mindset. It’s annoying to have to get rid of clothes you love but they’re not doing you any good in the wardrobe 🥰
This was fun - well done!

Perfect timing I’m also doing a declutter and I see you uploaded a declutter.
Ah! Great minds think alike!
Loved the video!
Thank you!
I would agree with the person who said due the bridesmaids dress, the red color that you want to
I think that might be a good option.
I would ask the friend if they want to sell it on vinted and if not, do it on my own.

Yeah, I think secondhand is the best bet. That way I can find something I'll be able to keep for years and I won't feel bad about it.
Do you consider to maybe count your clothes? I avoid it but if you do I'll have a good reason to do it as well to compare to a normal person and not full blown minimalist where i would only feel bad 😂
I've never thought about it but it's definitely something I can do. I'm scared though 😂

You should dye the dress to a colour you would wear !
Oooh! I could dye it red like my old one! 😂

I think dying it might be a good option...if I can find the nerve to try it haha
Just sell the dress if you want to sell it. 🤭
I love pale colours in pale skin, it brings out the beautiful paleness of the skin. 😆

Good thinking. I think secondhand is going to be the only way forward with it. I'll have to keep an eye out ☺️

I think you’re right. I need to find a good secondhand one that will last me 😊
