Episode 04 As always i'll explain some things that were unclear without spoilers. Ainz's base has appeared on the border of three countries: the Re Estize Kingdom, the Baharuth Empire, and the Slane Theocracy. By chance, all these countries are fundamentally human, but there are also other more distant nations that are not human, but monsters like dragons. In reality, despite their high numbers, the human species is one of the weakest and is constantly under siege or enslaved by the rest of the world. The nation that cares most about “ensuring the survival of humanity” is the Theocracy and to do so it resorts to means that are quite radical, since if it didn't, humanity would have fallen long ago. It is because the power of the Theocracy that fear arose in other countries that no heteromorphic nation dares to invade human nations. Gazef Stronoff is the best warrior in the kingdom and one of the most honorable characters, but the kingdom he serves has many problems that have weakened it and the safety of the human nations is in danger because of it. The Slane Theocracy had decided to go ahead and bring about the downfall of the Kingdom themselves, before a non-human nation attacked it. So they can create a new powerful human country or let another absorb it. The problem is that Gazef Stronoff is very strong and absolutely loyal to his king, so the Theocracy knows that they will never get him to defect from the kingdom, that's why they chose to assassinate him first. And in truth they were only able to set up a trap for him because many nobles from the corrupt kingdom conspired to kill him out of jealousy. That reveals to you the degree of corruption that the kingdom has, that they do not mind killing their best captain commander in order to gain a little more power. In the middle of all this Ainz falls and turns everything upside down as if it were the Adams family. The Sunlight Scripture are an Elite Combat Unit of the Slane Theocracy, but they haven't been able to do anything to Ainz and this has revealed a lot about the strength he possesses and the magic system. The Magic of in this New World which is from Yggdrasil has 10 fundamental levels: Normal people can't use magic. The lesser gifted can use 1 or 2d Tier Magic. Great talents can use 3th Tier Magic. Super geniuses and gifted people can do 4 or 5th Tier Magic. With the help of invocations or ceremonies it is possible to do magic of level 6th and 7th Tier but it is believed that it is impossible for a single individual to do it. That's why Captain Nigan shouts "Dominion Authority's magic completely surpasses humanity". Since that angel's ray of light is 7th Tier Magic. By theory, 8th Tier Magic is suspected to exist, but has never been found and is considered a myth or something exclusive to the gods. Ainz is a level 100 player… And he can use 10th Tier Magic. Hence all the attacks slipping from him as if it was a joke. Only "Grasp Heart" with which he ripped out the heart of the first knight is 9th Tier Magic Spell. However, Ainz is very cautious and wanted to make sure the enemies weren't stronger than him, so that's why he first chose to watch Gazef's battle and only changed at the last moment. That's why Albedo celebrates that he "used that human" as a guinea pig. Ainz is a lich, so he should normally be weak against blunt physical attacks. But since he is a level 100 player there are many passive effects on his body that nullify the damage of low level attacks. Specifically, any blow below level 60 will not do anything to him, so the swords of the first angels are useless against him, since they do not exceed level 30. It is also evident that Ainz cannot be the only player who has come from Ygdrassil, because someone must have taught the humans of that world how to use that kind of magic. But it is still a mystery who they are or if they still exist. The Sealing Crystal used by Nigun is an Yggdrassil Item that in theory can store 10th Tier spells and that's why he thought the angel inside would be from the first Order, the seraphim or cherubim, but a Dominion Authority is "only" at the top of the second order or the middle echelon so its actually quite strong... just not for a lvl 100 Player. Before starting to fight, Ainz put up an anti-spy barrier so that no one could watch them from afar with magic. That is why the sky suddenly seems to crack for an instant, because someone tried to observe from afar, but the barrier stopped him. Finally, in the post-credits scene you can see that Ainz only wants to search for the friends of this world using his new name, but his servants have misunderstood his intentions and believe that he wants world domination. And he has not yet realized this. Thank you for reading this and i will see you in the next chapter. ^^
Thank you for the detailed explanations for each episode ☺️ this helped me a lot!! I missed the post credit scene. So thank you for explaining that as well ☺️☺️
This comment was really informative except for one thing. Yes someone taught the humans Yggdrasil magic but that's not a mystery we know who did it. Ainz is not the only player that has been to this world but the other players were also scattered across time in this world. The 6 Great Gods of the Slaine Theocracy were players but they lived 800 years ago in this world's time and it is they who introduced Yggdrasil magic to this world. So are any of Ainz's guild mates here in this world? That we don't know and that's what Ainz is looking for.
In the game Yggdrasil the guild Ains Ooal Gown played as inhuman monsters who fought the human players, so the NPCs made by the guild members hate humans as the enemies of the guild. Visualize the important part of the map as a Capital U, the Re-Estize Kingdom (Gazef's country) as the left upright of the U, the Baharuth Empire is the right upright and the Slane Theocracy is the base of the U. The city E-Rantel is inside the U fairly centered, and belongs to the Re-Estize Kingdom. Ains was peeved that he didn't keep one of the knights that attacked the village for information gathering, he didn't kill all the magic casters, he captured them and took them back to Nazarick to get information from them. Nazarick's methods for getting information are not gentle, since they hate humans, but they won't kill them till they get all the info from them. Awww, you missed an after credit scene on episode 4 that is kind of important. There is a more important after credit scene in episode 9, that bears on the rest of the first season.
Yeah. What you need to understand is that Ains does not care about anyone in this world. At all. He cares about "his" people and his old guild mates. Thats it. Everyone in that world is just a tool to use or a obstacle to remove to him. Granted, a lot stems from him now being a real "lich" a undead creature with no human emotions or empathy.
He's just not naive, maybe it's the influence of his real world, because in Momonga's real world it's where money and power rule, so he already knows how the world works.
@@Electrolux_007 Yeah that too, he does not really come from our world but more from a dystopian Cyberpunk future where corporations run everything and basically work you to death. So he had a pretty fatalistic outlook on life already.
@@Manamyte Yeah, that's what it looks like at first and that's why a lot of people get upset later when it becomes harder to find him justifications for what he does. He's not gray in the slightest. "Even when I kill people, I don't feel a thing. I guess both physically and mentally, I've stopped being human." That's a very important character defining line. It tends to be underestimated.
More like a gray world with a gray MC and mostly dark subordinates. Every nation was fated to crumble, until Nazarick came and actually put an end to the schemings of the countries and shady organizations
Not a villain. A protagonist of the story. His motivation is way more complex than that of a typical villain. Ainz will protect all that he treasure. He is an anti-hero.
i couldnt post the paragraph for episode 03 so i will try to fix it here Originally in the Ygdrassil game there was a Race class called "heteromorph", who unlike the humanoid classes, had high starting power and access to many more abilities and immunities, but also weaknesses. Also, one of the drawbacks was that other players could kill heteromorphic players without "penalty", so in the game it became customary to chase them to level up quickly, to the point of almost cyberbullying. Momonga suffered from this until he was saved by his friend Touch Me [whos full name is Touch Me If You Can] (the creator of Sebas the butler) , who introduced him to his first friends and the 9 together founded their own guild under Touch Me's initial leadership. Since all of them were Heteromorphs and only accepted Heteromorphs instead of having other classes to balance better, which initially put them at a disadvantage, they chose a euphemistic name for their guild: Nine's Own Goal. Later, due to the fights between Touch Me and another fellow named Ulbert (creator of Demiurge), Momonga was chosen to take command of the Guild as he was a person everyone got along with. They then changed the Guild name to an anagram of the former, which became Ainz Ooal Gown. That is the explanation of the Name in particular. ------------------------------------------------- this continues in the replys since YT-kun is not happy with the full paragraph --------------------------------------------------------
Ohhhhhh. I did think that the name Ainz Ooal Gown is so unique. This explains it! Also, there are so many such things not explained in the anime. So thank you so much for explaining ☺️☺️
In the new world there are many things that don't work exactly like in the game or have completely new functions, that's why it takes Ainz so long to control the Remote Viewing Mirror. That's also why he's surprised that the Death Knight can abandon him, when in the game the summons had to stay a certain distance from the summoner even if they didn't want to. Being a cautious person, Ainz is afraid that the inhabitants of this new world are stronger than him, so he first tries a level 9 spell and then a weaker level 5 spell that could not harm him, but the knights cannot resist any. I take this opportunity to clarify that in the game there were 10 levels of magic plus a level 11 that worked as a special attack and that I will explain later. Level 5 Lightning is very low by the standards of a level 100 player like Ainz. ------------------------------------------------- YT-kun still doesnt like the paragraph.... ----------------------------------------------------
i guess i just use fewer words for this now... Ainz uses the Mask of Jealousy/Mask of Envy that was given to Players that were logged in for a few hours on Christmas day. Japan isnt christian but they celebrate Christmas because of outside Influence (USA) but not in the same way. Christmas is a couples Day in Japan so anyone who didnt have a date and was logged in got that Mask.
A Kingdom, Empire, Theocracy and a Tomb. Things get interesting. Momonga changes his name to the name of his guild because Players from his home world are more likely to recognize the name of the Top Ranked guild than recognize his name specifically.
7:02 iirc, this guy is the one that killed the father of the girls that Ainz/Momonga saved and, while they don't show it or say it in the anime, in the novel, he'd killed their father by repeatedly stabbing him. Now, the death knight is doing the same to him. Karma
I don't want to take away your illusion but the character that our main character plays is an Overlord, the highest form of an undead evil sorcerer and necromancer, the emphasis here is on evil 😈, most Npcs from Nasarik are not necessarily positive towards people, especially Albedo and Demiurg, so say goodbye to the idea that they are the good guys in the story, it all happens out of self-interest and serves the higher goal 😂
