Ainz oal gown is the name of the guild that Momonga was in, it was the 7th most powerful guild at its peak and they had a reputation as a guild of villains. Most people would recognize the guild name way better than they'd recognize the guild leader's name and that's why Momonga changed his name.
Ainz was initially on guard when the humans were going to summon "The Highest of Angels", because the Top form of Angels were actually strong enough to be dangerous to him, while still weaker than him, they did have a "Type Advantage" against him, which was problematic. But, what the humans actually summoned was just a mid-tier Angel, It just happened to be the "Highest" Angel they were aware of.
Whats not explained in the anime is that he didnt kill those guys. Thy didnt surrender, so he wasnt giving them a quick death as an act of mercy. They were brought to the tomb and will be used in experiments that are pretty much very bad torture. The details about this will probably be explained in later comments.
Yeah. In RPG game, Guild's name is more well know to other players than Player's name(even though they might be guild master). that's why Ainz use guild's name for searching other player.
Yep. While he is trying to find his friends, if they are out there, someone else who played moght not recognize Momonga, but would recognize Ainz. So there is more chance of grapevine news spreading about him and reaching a friend.
Ah, you guys missed the post-credits scene ;) Always make sure to check for post-credits scenes for this series, there are several episodes which have them.
He used the Guild name of Ainz Ooal Gown due to them having been one of the top guilds during the heyday. Meaning anyone who played Yggdrasil somewhat seriously likely heard about their guild.
13:45 his real real name is suzuky satoru his game name was momonga the guild name was nines own goal changed to ains oal gown cos english is hard the reason why more people whoul recognize ains oal gown is cos it was the name of one of the most famous guild in the game any player who heard that name would know they were a player and come see him
Ainz Owell Gown is the Guilds name, it was said in the early episodes, but it would be easy to miss for first time watching. He decided to pick Ainz as well since even players what didn't know his name would of heard of his guild, seeing as Momons guild (Ainz) was the strongest in the game. (Not spoilers) as this has been mention before or wont be mentioned at all and can only be found out through lore digging.
Ainz is a name best known to Yggdrasil players because it is the name of a powerful NPC in the game's lore who owns the staff, when he says "friends" he refers to other players
the use of Momonga guilds name now (Ainz Ooal Gown) is because in yggdrasil Ainz Ooal Gown not only was a guild composed of ONLY inhuman characters... but also in the top10 if not top5(cant remember exactly) ...besides it was the number one guild in terms of another thing that for now is Spoiler so i wont mention... but do note that the guild name is something akin to Your Football club or even Country... everyone that enjoys Football knows, for example Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Liverpool, Manchest City etc etc ... its kinda like that logic... u may not watch them regularly or even be a Football fan but u KNOW THOSE NAMES...
Hey guys nice reaction. It was said in episode 1 that Ainz Ooal Gown is the name of the guild he and his friends were in, in the game Yggdrasil. Just to make sure you also know this isn’t a game anymore he and Nazarick with all its NPC‘s were transported to this New World meaning he is now his in game avatar. Also in the first episode he said he was max level which in Yggdrasil max is level 100 the Guardians and Sebas are level 100 NPC’s. I’ll wait for the next one.
Ainz Ooal Gown is momonga's guild name. He mentioned in this episode that that name (Ainz Ooal Gown) is a name everyone knows It prob means their guild name is a very well known one. Which is why he used that as his name instead so if anyone from Yggdrasil hears that name, they would know right away
Nobody in the game knew him like his guild mates so changing his name to Ainz, which everyone in the game knew, would make it easier for his friends to find him.
How are you friends?, thanks for reacting. I'll explain some things that were unclear (no spoilers) Ainz's base has appeared on the border of three countries: The Kingdom, the Empire, and the Slane Theocracy. By chance, all these countries are fundamentally human, but there are also other more distant nations that are not human, but monsters like dragons. In reality, despite their high numbers, the human species is one of the weakest and is constantly under siege or enslaved by the rest of the world. The nation that cares most about “ensuring the survival of humanity” is the Theocracy and to do so it resorts to means that are quite radical, since if it didn't, humanity would have fallen long ago. It is because the power of the Theocracy arouses fear in other countries that no heteromorphic nation dares to invade human nations. Gazef Stronoff is the best warrior in the kingdom and one of the most honorable characters, but the kingdom he serves has many problems that have weakened it and the safety of the human nations is in danger because of it. The Slane Theocracy had decided to go ahead and bring about the downfall of the Kingdom themselves, before a non-human nation attacked it. So, they can create a new powerful human country or let another absorb it. The problem is that Gazef Stronoff is very strong and absolutely loyal to his king, so the Theocracy knows that they will never get him to defect from the kingdom, that's why they chose to assassinate him first. And in truth they were only able to set up a trap for him because many nobles from the corrupt kingdom conspired to kill him out of jealousy. That reveals to you the degree of corruption that the kingdom has, that they do not mind killing their best captain commander in order to gain a little more politic personal power. In the middle of all this Ainz falls and turns everything upside down as if it were the Adams family. The Sunlight Scripture are an Elite commando of the Slane Theocracy, but they haven't been able to do anything to Ainz and this has revealed a lot about the strength he possesses and the magic system. The Magic of Ygdrassil game has 10 fundamental levels. Normal people can't use magic. The more or less gifted can use 1 or 2d Tier Magic. Great talents can use 3th Tier Magic. Super geniuses and gifted people can do 4 or 5th Tier Magic. With the help of invocations or ceremonies it is possible to do magic of level 6th and 7th Tier Magic but it is believed that it is impossible for a single individual to do it. That's why Captain Nigan shouts "Dominion Authority's magic completely surpasses humanity". Since that angel's ray of light is 7th Tier Magic. By theory, 8th Tier Magic is suspected to exist, but has never been found and is considered a myth or something exclusive to the gods. Ainz is a level 100 player… And he can use 10th Tier Magic. Hence all the attacks slipping from him as if it was a joke. Only "Grasp Heart" with which he ripped out the heart of the first knight is 9th Tier Magic Spell. However, Ainz is very cautious and wanted to make sure the enemies weren't stronger than him, so that's why he first chose to watch Gazef's battle and only changed at the last moment. That's why Albedo celebrates that he "used that human" as a guinea pig. The world of Overlord is inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, so there are certain rules for all characters that have to be followed. Ainz is a lich, so he should normally be weak against blunt physical attacks. But since he is a level 100 player there are many passive effects on his body that nullify the damage of low-level attacks. Specifically, any blow below level 60 will not do anything to him, so the swords of the first angels are useless against him, since they do not exceed level 30. This massive difference in levels is also why Ainz can smash "angels" into the ground so easily. It is also evident that Ainz cannot be the only player who has come from Ygdrassil, because someone must have taught the humans of that world how to use that kind of magic. But it is still a mystery who they are or if they still exist. The Data Crystal used by Nigun is a Yggdrassil Item that in theory can store 9th Tier spells and that's why he thought the angel inside would be from the first hierarchy, the seraphim or cherubim, but a Dominion Authority is the middle rank between mid-ranks and so he felt bad for being on his guard. Before starting to fight, Ainz put up an anti-spy barrier so that no one could watch them from afar with magic. That is why the sky suddenly seems to crack for an instant, because someone tried to observe from afar, but the barrier stopped him. Finally, in the post-credits scene you can see that Ainz only wants to search for the friends of this world using his new name, but his servants have misunderstood his intentions and believe that he wants world domination. And he has not yet realized this. Well, I hope my comment has entertained you two.
@@DenverSenpai thanks to you two. I put a lot of effort into these informative comments, especially since I don't speak English, but I rarely get any replies. I'm glad!
For overlord, you really have to check if there's post credit scene or no. That scene kinda give context to the next episode or might even the whole arc
Not everyone in the game will know him by his name, real or his in game name, so he is using his guild's name. His guild was pretty up there in the rankings, so it's more likely to be recognized by others if there are others
He used his guild name rather than his login name. He basically wants to find any hints who know this guild name. Basically, he said this that he was just guild leader who was not fighting in the field and doing table job. Players would know the name of the guild rather than the person who never fought on the feild. Probably many top guilds didn't cared enough to know the name Momonga.
Congratulations. You have just met The Sunlight Scripture, one of the six elite action teams of the Slaine Theocracy. Who mysteriously disappeared without trace during an attempt to kill the warrior Gazeth Stronoff (in order to assist in the destabilization of the Re-Estize kingdom). I wonder what could have happened to them?
