- I wanted to figure out which aftermarket battery is best for the GoPro Hero 4. I also did some test to find out more about bit-rate and recording times for the various recording modes.

also a quick question.
I'm on a tight budget of 600 euros and am looking for a good 4K/UHD camera, what would you suggest.
It's just for some quick filming and maybe facecam for my RUclips videos or so.
I do however plan on buying a stabilizer for it because I do some recording at my school for little projects and this requires quite some running with the camera so any thoughts on a good stabilizer?

Thanks. Why are you recommending 720/30 for max capacity when it's takes the same card space (apparently) for 1080/30? I don't see how that can be, but I've seen similar anomilies in GoPro website, eg for 3+SE they show same time of 9:30(64GB) for 1080/30, 720/60, 720/30, & WVGA60. Can this be accurate or are they not proofing?
Im shocked with wasabi for me they last longer than any other brand even gopro

So i'm getting DBK x4 and a charger by about 30 bucks on mexico, is it worth it? how long is the functional life of those batteries and they will perfom and don't damage my camera? i just got some doubts. Great video btw (:
I can't help to notice a (somewhat) flaw into these... The batteries come at various capacities (mAh). Doesn't that affect the outcome?
Will Urbina The recording times you have listed @11:34 in the video. Did you get those recording times while using just one battery??
It's a shame they switched the battery opening. In the end, there's only so much power you can pack into limited space. With GP3, there's several "all day" batteries that protrude from the back that last for many hours. Maybe GP4 will end up with some "battery grip" external batteries.

Why didn't you test out the cheap chinese Ebay batteries? I heard those ones last longer than OEM GoPro batteries

Great Video, might be of use for me! If it doesn't take Xiaomi more than another year to get their 4K action camera on the market i might get a Hero 4 Black as well.
Currently i own a Hero 3 Black and in terms of battery life i noticed something odd:
The two no-name Batteries i bought from ebay for whopping 1,30€ usually outperform the original gopro battery by 5-7 Minutes...
***** Well, i would have mentioned what brand it was if it was printed on there but it litteraly just says "BATTERY PACK" where the GoPro logo usually is.
It claims to have 1600mAh which is obviously BS but it does still outperform the original Battery.
I just tried to find that listing again where it was sold for 1.30€ last year but it seems like they don't sell that exact model seperately anymore, or at least not that cheap.
I think this is the bundle that i bought: 251517491108 (ebay) which was a lot cheaper back when i bought it. The ones pictured look exactly like the ones i have just that mine do have one aditional logo in the bottom row. (Circle with the Letters PS E in it)
They don't seem to wear any worse either. have used them in 2.7k/30 every day during vacation on crete & italy, sometimes with and sometimes without the LCD BackPack and sofar they didn't complain. No Problems at all.
Next thing i'll buy for the gorpo will be the hero 2 battery backpack though... if you wonder why hero 2... the batteries in the hero 2 backpack were still interchangable and those are even cheaper than the hero 3 batteries. Still fits the hero 4...
Hi and thank you very much for doing this test and review on these batteries much appreciated. I would assume using a 64 gb card would give me half the time compared to the 128 gigabyte card you was using hope I am right.

How about testing the Batmax 3Packs AHDBT-401 1680mAh Battery + LED 3Slots USB Charger for Gopro Hero 4 Battery Go Pro Hero4 AHBBP-401? I doubt they are 1680mah.

i got the DBK batteries off eBay for $5 they only lasted around 35 minutes filming at 1080P 60 FPS. The original GoPro Hero 4 battery lasted an hour and 15 minutes at 1080P 60FPS
+BeastRyder This is a test with nearly new batteries. We dont know how much they degrade.

Hi I bought a Generic (almost fake) battery for my Hero 4 Silver which clocked 1hr 50 mins on 1080p/30 FPS. Should I keep it or return it. Please Help.
For another 11 Dollars I might get a Original GoPro battery.

How did you do a 4k test for 2 hrs? My GPH4B gets really really hot after 10 mins of shooting.

I have a question. if I need to record over an hour of footage but I'm doing filming that involves the go pro going under water so I can't have the external battery bacpac. I use a hero4 silver
thatchevyguy1 I just bought a battery pack the plugs right to the go pro. It came with a waterproof case as well.

Two things:
Does a 128g card actually work in a GP4? I notice that GoPro claims a max. of 64g.
Ever thought of trying one of the alternate lens in the GP? I just installed the 5.4mm from peauproductions in my GP4 the other night. If the sun ever comes out again here on the east coast I'll start trying it out on the Phantom 2.

Lens change: I took the chance with my GP4B and was most nervous, but followed their video faithfully and it seems to have worked. I was just this sec. trying to do a flight with it (cloudy and all), figured I'd try doing the continuous photo mode. Seems the GP4 won't do that (?), wants me to hold down the button else it stops after the first 3 shots (if 3 per sec. is selected). That is quite disappointing that they have dropped that mode. Although I'd love to hold down the button during the flight but I'm a bit too heavy.

Here I am commenting in 2019 LOL .... 12 min is the range of battery lifes which is not really that bad considering the money you can save .
on my canon 70d wassbi are terrible and power 2000 is pretty good...

Bro,i bougt a new Duracell battery,and it lasted 1 hour and 20 minuts,its still going when i write the comment😂,so ill say its preety good,(yes a filmed on 4 k)
