I think they used some cgi, I'm pretty sure the show creator said that in an interview. She also made spotify playlists for some characters to get a feel for them and alex is half emo half cowboy..

@Kate B. _No, actually not. It's gonna be a love triangle between Maria DeLuca, Alex Manes, and Michael Guerin...or so my very very reliable sources tell me. I'm super invested in all the characters emotionally, (but Guerin and Alex I believe still have a history to be told). The show doesn't come back until March, but I'll be watching with delicious anticipation. Remember DeLuca doesn't really believe in Aliens, that is until she sees Guerin play the guitar at the end(and his left hand is mysteriously healed)._

I read an interview that the executive producer did, and she said that “I think what’s really important for the fans to realise is, that they have a long way to go and those men have so much work to do in themselves before they can be better for each other”. And I really like that idea because a lot of tv shows rush into a relationship and don’t give it any real flavour, and honestly, the relationships that have to work to be together, often turn out the best. So as much as I hate seeing Michael and Maria together, I think that it’ll be good for his character growth. Alex is all he’s really known since he was 17, so it’ll be nice to see him explore something different. And at the end of the day, I’m confident that the show writers know the characters and the fans, and they’ll do the right thing with malex’s relationship, and in the end they’ll be stronger for it.

also like remember when alex got all scared that Isobel knew abt the relationship? i don’t think michael wanted like alex to b closeted and him having to lie to his siblings bc like Michael doenst rly give a shit and is pretty open abt his relationship. I loveeeee alex and michael together sooo much. Season 2 just went and screwed up the best couple on the show. Michael and Alex were so meant to be, the chemistry between them was incredible. Michael and Maria, just NO!!!!

I didn't even watch this show but from my experience I feel like with that couple writers just want to strech it more to make yall intrested to watch show so they purposefully keep them apart but at the same time show that they still have feelings for each other. In most of the instances couples like this are endgame especially if they have very developed relationship and chemestry. So unless show get cancelled you dont need to worry😊

I'm just not sure about these two. I am all for LGBT representation (especially bisexuality) but Maria and Michael were one of the best pasts of the original show and by far the best love story. I've only seen a couple episodes of the new show.
I have recently binged the whole show so I am altering my statement. I still love Maria and Michael but I think Alex and Michael together is great also. They have great chemistry and it doesn't feel forced.

I know everyone says he should end up with up with Alex just because they are a gay couple but there is something between him and Maria plus their relationship is hilarious I want Maria not to be an alien but wouldn’t it be cool if she was supernatural like a succubus and micheal is bisexual in this not gay honestly he is more protective of Maria in my opinion not to mention alex always judges him
Sorry but what Michael and alex have is something so amazingand beautiful. The chemistry is just so good. I love them not cause they are gay couple but cause they have so much chemistry and the story of them is also so good. They have come a far way. Maria have nothing on their amazing story. They will be together at the end
