He basically skipped most of it, usually you push a bunch of buttons on that island to make 4 10 rings appear, collect them all and progress further up to the top of that island where the last button challenge spawns the springs getting you down to the koco
I absolutely HATE that one Koco.... That's literally the one I can't figure out and why I'm watching this video... I love Sonic Frontiers don't get me wrong but that one's kinda dumb
You have to go into the settings and change the max speed to 100. It defaults at 0. This is bad game design because everything should be either designed to function with any settings, or you shouldn't be allowed to alter the settings. At the very least, the default settings should be the way the game was intended to be played. If changing the settings is a key element to a game (like some sort of physics puzzle game), you can't just plop something in the game and never mention the settings in any other context. This is a platforming game though, not a physics-based puzzle game, so maybe don't have the default settings slow down the speedy jumpy boi in a game about being a speedy jumpy boi! The only good thing about this challenge is that it explained to me why Sonic felt so slow, even after maxing my speed out by farming Kocos.
@@tnorrlotgp thats not bad game design, its not required to change the settings in order to beat the game, its only a good thing because it allows people to customize how sonic controls to their liking
The Koco Challenges are a blast. Some of them get pretty challenging, and it's alot more platformer heavy compared to the rest of the game. Nowhere near my regular upload schedule, but I am really happy with the last video's performance so here we are. 4:30 am upload for me. 🤣
@Mousoro yeah, it probably is because you really don’t need much more than 2 boost bars when going around the place and I have most of the Kocos and I have 3 in total, I think? I would have to check.
"The Koco Challenges are a lot more platforming heavy than the rest of the game" Rhea Island: Am I a Joke to you? Like, I can say the platforming is a LITTLE more intense than Rhea, but not a LOT more. Plus the White Emerald sections can be pretty tricky on Ares and Chaos.
You start with 1 Boost Gauge, and each set of New Koco gives you 1 more. There's a set each on Kronos, Ares, Chaos, and Ouranos, that's 4 extra bars. So, it's 5 Boost Gauges in total

The rings reveal the next button, sets of rings and balloons. They trigger platform movements also lowering certain spikes so you can get to the next button. Stomping mid ramp jump can help get to the main tower to climb carefully instead of flying off everywhere. Rings are key! ✨️

@@melan8ed197 I just figured it out. The four switches are important, you need to activate them in order for the mid-air springs to show up. If you can jump just before the spring on the rail, you can get to the top of the tower. You'll just have to aim for it and do a double jump in mid air.
I know I'm late to the party but I'm absolutely loving the jukebox feature. I wasn't a fan of the audio direction in this game - it's not bad but it's also not my cup of tea. Good thing we have that ability to listen to the sound memories
3:25 this koko on Kronos, where you have to climb up all those sticky walls and run past the rotating spike balls is driving me crazy because whenever you are attached to one of those glowing walls, holding down R2 causes Sonic to start moving even if you are not touching the control stick. Maybe that is another thing that can be remedied by changing the settings, but I’m not aware.
Here's some tips for getting the two hardest ones on Kronos Island, the ones in midair with the spikes: Starting, of course, with the Sky Tower: * If you're about to fall, fast travel back to the Cyberspace Portal at the start of the puzzle. Doing so saves your progress. I learned that from a comment on another video. * You can actually skip MOST of the puzzle. The only important part is the set of rings spawned by the last sensor. * When you are skydiving off the starting grind rail, caarefully position yourself so that you land on the high set of platforms, next to, but not on, the spikes. There is an invisible wall preventing you from landing at the very top ring, though. * There are just enough spike-free platforms that you can carefully jump to the other side of that high structure. From there, you can use Stomp to go inside the structure and trigger the sensor. ** You may be able to jump to the metal crate next to the sensor, punch it as you fall, fast travel back to the Portal, land at the top again, then actually trigger the censor, but I'm not sure. * You still have to collect all the rings at the top as usual, and it may be a bit more challenging with the spikes still there, but the detection area for the rings is actually much larger than the rings themselves, so you don't have to get too close. As usual, you can fast travel to get the rings in multiple attempts. * To reach the top ring, you only need to launch yourself off the first platform it sends you to, using MOMENTUM. If you start with a boost from the very beginning of the ramp, it launches you just high enough that you can aim to pass by the high tower's single standable platform by the climb wall. As you do, hold a midair parry. That kills all your momentum and indefinitely suspends you in midair (I actually hate this feature). Then just jump on top of that platform, climb the wall, and you're done. There's also a relatively easy way to skip a large portion of the New Koco with the climb wall platforms and spikes: * Right in the middle of the gorge, near where SQUID does a loop around a bridge, there's a grind rail leading to one of the rainbow boost hoops. Just launch from that hoop (you can even jump down to it from above). * It brings you right THROUGH some of the vertical platforms. As you approach them, just midair parry (again, ugh), to kill your momentum, then jump onto a platform. * These particular platforms are actually safe enough to walk on top of, on their thin side. Their other thin sides are also climbable. So, you can carefully climb and walk atop the thin sides of the platforms to skip the spike balls completely (once again, be careful with your hurtbox). *Then, as you near the end, just drop onto the boost pad, and finish the challenge automatically.
The one challenge with cylooping around spikes i couldn't beat legit so i cheesed like how i cheesed some others since i couldn't find where they started. The reward was really cool honestly since pairing that with spindash means you can have some really insane stuff without ever having to draw the infinity symbol anymore. This update was so good. Glad spindash and boost work so well together too. Frontiers now feels like the best controlling sonic game. Sonic also no longer stops on a dime and i tried doing the joshua method on kronos but couldn't get it to work with no air deceleration so i wonder if either A the trick is patched or B the settings make it no longer possible. Favorite koco challenge was the one on ouranos i think was the one that had lost world wall parkour towards the end. Only complaint i could have now with the game is no way to delete my stats in new game plus so i can enjoy spindash and momentum as well as combat since the file i got spindash and boost meter on was the one i grinded for max stats on. Cyberspace stages feels so short now after unlocking the spindash and i only got worse because now i keep trying to find spots to spindash jump large gaps to skip large portions of the stages causing camera freakouts more often as well as often times accidentally going too far out of bounds and unable to save myself. Spindash in open zone is also so op i have clipped through a couple walls and jumped straight through lazers with it at times. Also really happy we can hear cyberspace tracks without the boost effect now.
