I love the vibe, I was thinking this would be a third world city style with modern architecture, glass and steel or concrete, but the city is beautiful, I love the mix of the Dutch style and English architecture, It gave the city it own identity, that you cant find in another place of the world

British architecture everywhere; you could easily be in an English provincial capital, except for the sunny weather and ethnicity; there were serious people here once, clearly invested in security and stability and keeping the forces of chaos and foreignors at bay. The Cape was part of the United Kingdom for the last thirty years before the war of independence in which the Cape largely supported the British.

    • @Dedette1966

Townships are the legacy of violent colonialism & racism. Holding accountable those who violently stole wealth and labor and killed people to make a life in Southern Africa, including by prosecuting violators, building housing & investing in universal healthcare, would go a long way toward reducing all crime. If the original crimes against humanity that the Dutch and British perpetrated in Southern Africa are not addressed, it’s difficult to address much smaller crimes. Post-2000s Rwanda, recovering from Belgian,French and Hutu-led genocide, post-WW2 Germany, and post-WW2 Japan provide 3 imperfect, but useful examples of reconciliation and recovery from which the world and South Africa can learn.

It depends on where you are. The area in this video (the central business district) is pretty safe during the day, and while I wouldn’t venture into some parts of the City at night - the entertainment / restaurant areas are usually safe enough. Cape Town’s notorious murder reputation comes from the central region of the Cape Flats - a region that suffers from inequality, gang-violence and unfortunately a lot of drug abuse. [SPEAKING JUST TO GENERAL TOURISTS] while tourists can take part in many excellent and safe tours and experiences within the Central Cape Flats region (which are highly-rewarding), the largest quantity of tourists who visit Cape Town will not go anywhere near these areas.
If you stay in the suburbs or the city during your visit to Cape Town, you will be safe - just always keep tabs on your surroundings, that’s all.

The Cape town region was never settled by Blacks. It originally belonged to the Khoi San. Blacks, like Whites and Indians there are immigrants. Why does everything have to resolve around race?

@@derkurwalski9276 For the modern person, everything revolves around race because that's what academia and the media have taught them from a young age. With so many people poisoned by this mindset, it's nearly impossible to avoid the subject of race, even if you yourself don't care about it.

@@derkurwalski9276 "Khoi San" are a black ethnicity (pastoralist & hunter-gatherer).
Most SA groups are descended from them. (Xhosa, Tswana, etc)
In fact large numbers of Xhosa, Tswana etc people over the last 300 years have intermingled absorbed into the Cape Coloured Creole group which makes up the majority of Cape Town.
(A lot of other black Africans going back to the 1650s along with Asians also were the labour who built Cape Town.)
This was the demographics for Cape Town a decade ago:
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Cape_Town
Black 39% (mostly Xhosa, but increasingly there's a minority of immigrants from the rest of Africa as well)
Coloured 42% (Creole population consisting of mixed race people of African and Asian origin, as well as reclassified blacks)
      White 15%
      Indian 1.4%
Interestingly even in the seventeen-hundreds two thirds of the residents of Cape Town were black or Asian. And while there was always massive discrimination, it was made far whiter through the Natives Urban Areas Act (1923) and the later Group Areas Act (1950) creating massive forced removals to the outskirts.
