I love my tassimo. It does give a good bit of froth and I also bought a Bodum milk frother which is easy to use along with it! Everybody who has tried it so far has loved it! Gives a perfect cappuccino every time!

This is what most American/Canadian youtubers mess up. What he really made with tassimo was a latte macchiato NOT cappuccino. For a real cappuccino you need to use the espresso coffee disc first and then the milk disc which is smaller than the one he used and also makes more foam. At least this is what it says on the tassimo Jacobs cappuccino box. BTW I'm from Europe.

On a Tassimo machine you need to use the milk disc first as the hot coffee then washes through ant milk remnants from the spout. The other way round results in hard milk clogging up the spout.

It would be interesting also to show how much cleaning there is to do on the machines. One of the things I love about my Tassimo is it takes 90 secs to remove the two parts that need cleaning, rinse and dry them and put them back. Beats the heck out of my filter coffee machine.
BTW he also took the milk disc out before it was done! (I also agree it with the comment below, he made a sort of latte macchiato, not a cappuccino).
I think the main trick with these is to find drinks you like, I have a few with the Tassimo but there are others I'm less impressed with. Just trying one drink and saying you don't like the system is not so good.
So far my favorite is the "Costa Americano", followed by the "Carte Noire Crema Intenso" and the "Jacobs Latte Macchiato Less Sweet", which isn't the best thing ever but is a fun thing to do. I still have a number of others to try though...
IMHO the trick with Tassimo is to get a machine when there is a deal on, I got my T4 via a Costa deal where it was 45 quid inc postage and included the free 20 quid voucher for coffee you always get, in the U.K. anyway, with a machine.

I say for latte get regular lattes and add syrup to them but if you want a bog standard wake up drink put the kettle on coffee I say go with the XL intense coffee pods for a big mug of decent coffee lattes are sooo expensive on a tasimo machine wish they sold a bigger pack 16 coffee and more crema milk but that's just me ile go through 4 cups of coffee a day lol so a 8 pack of pods is not gonna last me ile probably use my own syrup gingerbread latte monin syrup 😀

Great review but I think you have missed a more relevant point, I agree that the Nespresso is better at making a better drink but the reason why most people buy one of the two machines is ease of use, I have both a Tassimo and proper barista machine with steam wand, burr grinder etc... Tassimo is great as all you have to clean after is your cup, so no worries for making a quick coffee on the way to work... with the Nespresso if you want anything more than espresso it will occur cleaning all the bits up after every use, which is to much hassle for me... This is my opinion, its very much personal preference on what machine is better for the individual.

It's a really good idea to run a shot of water through the Nespresso after each use. There's always a bit of coffee left in the machine, so if you wan't your machine to stay clean and your next shot of espresso to be completely fresh then just do that :)

I have a Nespresso at home and a Tassimo in the office. I prefer the coffee from the Nespresso, but Tassimo is so easy to make coffee, tea, chocolate etc. quickly when we have customers in. If I were to use the Nespresso in the office I would end up never talking to my customers! When on my own in the office though I tend to drink tea and Tassimo does a great job at that too. Nespresso doesn't do tea.

Fresh milk is of course a lot better than dried milk. Though, being from Northeren Europe, I'd still rather go for the Tassimo. I've tried both, and there's no question, but you really have to have a preference for espresso to choose Nespresso. It's really great when you're in a hurry, or just don't wanna bother. However when friends visit, I take the time to brew the real deal the old way. ^^

  • @AromacupCoffee

Short answer is - Nespresso 19 bar. Keep in mind that Nespresso is single serve espresso machine where Tassimo is single serve beverage system (coffee, tea and etc.). If you like only espresso you'll need Nespresso. If you like other beverages - Tassimo. Enjoy your cup, Aromacup.com

Just got a Tassimo, love it. It makes pretty decent coffee (love the Café Voluptuoso) & it's simple for the home.

Glad you love your Tassimo, Ed. :) I have a Keurig Vue myself and love it. Also have the Nespresso and love that too. The only thing that's really messy on the Nespresso to clean up is the milk frother. The Nespresso itself isn't messy at all - just open and drop the capsule into the receptacle and make sure your water tank is full. But since I like cappuccinos, I tend to use my milk frother a lot and yes, that can be messy.

Pretty sure you are meant to wait for the light to stop blinking on the tassimo before opening it and taking out the disc. Using it that way reduces the life span of the machine. Otherwise I don't see the issue with the video. Seems like people that prefer to be more hands on will enjoy the Nespresso and people that prefer quick but less control will like the Tassimo.
Tassimo is more for me. Lots of options and they seem to be sticking around since I can pick up discs at my local store and buy in bulk on places like Amazon.

  • @tiggerbiggo

5:37 calling bullshit on that point, barcode scanning takes a fraction of a second to do, and it reads the code the moment you close the lid, notice if you don't put anything in there and close the lid, the light remains on the standby mode, and when you put a drink with barcode in there, the green light goes on. Just pointing that out that is bull. Also, if you had started to make the coffees at the same time, the tassimo would have been done at least 2 or 3 minutes before the nespresso, simply because the milk capsules are done with one press rather than having to use that little milk frother every time.

    • @tiggerbiggo
      @tiggerbiggo 9 лет назад

just for ease, 6:54 he puts a capsule in the machine, notice the green light goes on, but at the end when he closes it up, 10:30 he closes it with no capsule in and the light stays orange.

    • @Benedict-01
      @Benedict-01 9 лет назад +2

correct! Also the tassimo does not need to heat up before use! In the video the Nespresso is already heated up! The Tassimo waits a little at the beginning because it has a instantaneous water heater unlike the Nespresso which has to heat up a tank filled with water. Also the time and pauses are needed to build up the pressure and let the espresso brew a special amount of time which is set in the barcode and varies from other coffee types. Furthermore the milk T-Disc was used before instead of the espresso with the tassimo - vice versa with the nespresso because it can't do milk(?). Also - here are some other facts:
      Disadvantages of Nespresso:
      - needs to heat up (Tassimo can start instantly)
      - fits only small glases
      - capsules contain only coffee
      - you have to choose the right button
      - no individual brewing programm for every coffee type
      - need of a seperate milk throbber
      - need to buy milk
      - need to keep the milk fresh (fridge)
      - need to clean the milk throbber
      - need a second glas
      - need a spoon
      - need to apply amount of milk and milkfoam by yourself (different taste of every cappuccino)
      - high price
      other remarks concerning the video:
      - use the correct glases for each coffee type (see note on package)
      - there is no stiff milk foam on a cappuccino only a creamy milk layer (approx. 1-2 cm)
      - you did something like a Latte Macchiato with the Nespresso (see also glas type)

Haha, you seem to know a lot about coffee :P I have recently started trying the teas from the tassimo, I was actually rather surprised, at the rate it was pumping the water through I thought it would be really weak, but the tea is actually really good! I have been pretty much addicted to both the earl grey and Russian Star teas, they are both really good, and super easy to clean up and make.

Very well said, and I totally agree. I just had this discussion with hubby the other day. I was drinking my lovely Nespresso cappuccino (which I love, BTW) when hubby was coming in from work. Now, he loves just a plane old cup of Joe from either our drip coffee maker or the BP up the street for 25 cents (keep one of their cups and they give you refills for a quarter). He said, "Oh, you're drinking that crap." I said, "Hey, it's not crap. You just don't know what's good." LOL!

Yep, I hear you. When I drink regular coffee, it's black for me. I do get in the mood for a cappuccino though and do like them, so I can go either way. Totally agree on the less is more. I hate house cleaning, especially dishes. I'm visually impaired, so I'm all about making my life easier, and when I don't have to struggle to see something, I'm in Seventh Heaven. I never knew there were so many coffee "contraptions" till I started researching them. There's so much on the market for sure. :)

I own a Nespresso and two Tassimo machines. The Nespresso Gran Maestria and the T45 snd T65. The Nespresso is a much better machine for espresso, cappaccino and latte. More espresso choices and much higher quality finished products. The Tassimo can brew reg coffees as well as specialty drinks. I keep the T45 at my office and the T65 for reg. coffee at home and an occasional latte when I am on the run.

  • @darktoranaga

From what i could see about Nespresso (don't have one so i can't tell for sure) it's great if you want just espresso. And that is fine. You can make all the espresso based drinks starting with that, if you have the right tools and ingredients. I chose to buy the Tassimo T20 because I don't live alone. I like my espresso, the wife loves long coffee, we both drink hot chocolate, my father in law prefers long, weaker coffee, and so on. Maybe at some point I would get a Nespresso, but I would be the only one to use it, so it doesn't make much sense right now. As for the taste of the Tassimo made espresso, it's actually decent. It all depends on the TDisks you buy. My advice would be to think about how you would actually use the machine and decide based on that which one is the right one for you.
P.S. I don't really like the tea disks that I was able to find for the Tassimo (not horrible, but not great either), but it is perfectly able to give you the hot water to make tea from whatever blend you prefer.

I guess what im asking is: Does the Tassimo, brew what you would define as a "good" tasty cup og coffee ? I would consider myself quite the coffee geek, and I really enjoy Nespresso espresso, and some of the Dolce Gusto coffee's. I also brew "Real" Espresso on a traditional espressomachine, so I do know how a Good cup of coffee should taste like. Will Tassimo be able to make me a good tasting cup of coffee ?

I have just sold my tassimo and bought a nespresso the tassimo maybe quick but the coffee is not good and the milk taste is terrible
tastes nothing like a proper barista coffee there is no substitute for fresh milk
    Conclusion
If you know nothing about good coffee tassimo is your winner
If you love coffee and want it at barista standard nespresso is the winner closest to getting coffee made properly

I don't believe this a very fair comparison when he uses a separate device to make the cream. Why not make the cream on that device for both coffees and do a taste test. Also when he makes the espresso on the nespresso he compares it to tassimo but that one was mixing with milk. Crazy test to me.

I wish people would stop referring to the different coffees as shit; because A) I doubt very much they have actually tasted shit so are not in a position to make this judgement and B) just because something isn't to a particular person's taste does not mean it's crap! Take for instance opera, I for one do not find it entertaining in the least, but there are millions of people who do! I think any intelligent "normal" person will realise that the only thing that tastes like shit is crap!!!!

Can you make a review of Tassimo T55 Styline? Thanks!

  • @6panel300

A somewhat biased review. Obviously a fan of nesspresso before he even started the review. The tassimo is more versatile as it will do a multitude of drinks including teas and chocolates as well coffees. The only drawback with the tassimo is that only tassimo make the pods, whereas you can buy 3rd party pods for the nesspresso. That's why brought out the vertuo range.

Please people.19 bar pressure is overkill. A real espresso is done at 9 bar. No more. And Costa is not decent coffee. Its a brand. Go an independent shop!

  • @badflower20

you forgot to mention the difference in bar witch is why i believe nespresso can't be compared to tassimo.only nesspresso gives you 19 bar machines! :)

Look at all that good crema you lost by pouring out the shot! I'd put the hot milk in the cup first then brew the espresso over the top of it. Like the Tassimo does :)

Some very sweet people that I have met - are apt to be sensitive when their favourite coffee is denigrated so much - If we all liked the same for heaven's sakes where would this lead - I am a Tassimo fan - I do not care for any Nescafé or nespresso never have - but I know a charming person who loves it - actually denigrating a person's choice of any consumable product does indeed reflect upon their taste - if I denigrate Jack's comment (I shan't) that would be uncivil of me - well there ya go

Tassino does not make espresso. It makes espresso flavoured water and little foamed milk powder. On the other hand nespresso makes a great espresso wlth pressure and real coffee but sttill not traditional espresso. You need to grind your coffee fresh and it plays a huge role in the espresso. There is also more pressure in traditional espresso.

Actrually this guy is allways wrong about the t disc barcodes.
The barcode is instantanusly scaned while the second you close the brew chamber.
I know this because there is a switch by the side of the lid, if you push that switch
it will start scaning. if it detects nothing it will go back to standby.
If it does detect a barcode it will flash the scaner and it knows what to do.
Simply put, as you close the lid with a tdisc inside{4:31}, and then the light already has turned green,
    it‘s done scaning.
5:23 the reason it takes this long time to brew is because of the pressure building up.
Tassimo does not preheat so that's another reason it's so long.
Besides, milk tdisc require more heat and pressure, and that also opens up the air valve,
which creats more foam for milk specialty drinks.
Personaly i like the tassimo system, it has tons of variaty of drinks, and tons brands to chose from [main is jacobs], over the Nescafe Dolce Gusto, which like nesspreso , has only its own
brands of drinks and uses powdered milk, which doesen't have the richer taste.
But i find the tassimo is more fun and experimental, trying out difrent drinks, that ive never tryed
before, and i could find that Carte Noire Esspresos are less sour then jacobs ones. [Which i like Carte Noire]
TO THE PERSON WHO READ ALL THIS, HAPPY DISHHWASHEERRMAS!
