- D1015 Western Champion was yet again called into action on the Mainline to Head the Brach Line Society’s The Nosh and Slosh from Birmingham International to Swindon and Return. I planned to get a shot of D1015 light engine heading from Kidderminster SVR to Birmingham International but I got Bowled by a Class 172 unit so the shot got ruined.
After Old Hill to went to Langley Green to catch the outward trip to Swindon but there was a 45 minute delay due to the coaching stock being late due to one of the locos delivering the stock to Birmingham International failing. After waiting for about 1 hours D1015 came through Langley Green at speed working hard with some Tones.
Once I finished at Langley Green I had some lunch and then headed to Vigo Bridge on the Lickey in-line and went to the other side of the crossing to get a bit of a different shot instead of the usual shot I get at the gate of the crossing at Vigo. After a 2 and a half hour late I finally head that Maybach roar at the bottom of the incline and it took a while for D1015 to come into shot and when she did she was going really slow and was struggling and the the class 57 at the back was providing no assistance until a horn from the Whizzo indicated that assistance was needed and as I went over the crossing to go back to the car I saw that the Service stalled further up the incline but got going again eventually.
It was great to catch up with @LiamsLocos and see @AndysSteamAdventures while I was waiting at Vigo.

Well caught James!!
Good to catch up with you mate
Thanks mate. It was good to catch up with you to. Hopefully we can catch up again soon.
Regards, James
That’s an extremely heavy load up the Lickey, especially for a loco only recently back in service, surprised to see the 57 wasn’t giving it a helping hand
I know the 57 did start pushing eventually but it stopped a bit further up the Incline. Thanks for Watching.
Regards, James.
@@James_Trains that is a surprise. Great video though 👍
Thanks
57 assisted from Vigo bridge. JG.
Ye the Western was completely unassisted until it was completely struggling up the incline. Thanks for watching.
Regards, James
James, Great captures and not surprised at the slow pace on the Lickey considering the weight. The organisers nearly kept to their "unassisted" word. Regards, John
Thanks John. They basically Kept the Whizzo unassisted until it actually needed assistance. Thanks for watching and for your Comment.
Regards, James.

Well caught, I was at Vigo too. Sounded rather nice aye!
The western did sound incredible at Vigo with no assistance from the 57 unless it was needed. Thanks for watching.
Regards, James
AWS triggered the stop what we were told on board it happen just after we started to gain speed unfortunately.
