What great tips for making a bridge look realistic and weathered. Keep up the great work and keep sharing it with all of us modelers on RUclips. We love to watch and learn. -from Tom Pilling
Nice step by step, Ron. I used to railfan at lunch by the Saginaw grain elevators. Lots of traffic. Great area. I look forward to seeing more of your miniature version.
I drove through there twice a day to and from work for 3 years, which is why I decided to model the area--it simply begged to me modeled. Thanks for your comment.
Ron: You look very nice in a button down collar shirt! Adds class to your show. There's no need to always wear T shirts, just because lots of less valuable U Tube N scalers shows sport them. It's nice to have a top grade show like yours around!!!
I recorded a voice over for this video instead of talking as I modeled. It makes a better video, but it also takes more time so I don't always get it done.
After you get your masks in place you can spray the model with dull coat before you paint your strips. It's a trick i picked up from modeling camouflage on military models. Looks awesome.Thank you for sharing another outstanding video.
I thought you would airbrush the stripes, but your brush technique of coloring in a faded manner was darn good. I hope you find a backdrop to blend the overpass into the skyboard.
Looks great Ron! Love seeing the techniques you use. I'm a huge fan of weathering powder on plastic as well. I've driven across that bridge many times. Are you going add DFW rush hour traffic!!! LOL
Yes, but there isn't time to scratch build everything. I have plenty to scratch build. When there is a kit that gets me 60% of the way there I will go with it.
Be sure to watch part 1 where I kit-bashed this overpass. ruclips.net/video/5_JHvvGZAoY/видео.html

Nice Work Ron !
Both the Ammo by Mig and AK Interactive products are fantastic for weathering just about anything. Great stuff. :)
Yes, they are somewhat new products for me but I am loving them.
Fantastic tutorial, the detail you put on these things is incredible. Your audio sounds a little different, did you change something in the editing?

I have done that when air brushing, but with these little strioes it just didn't seem necessary.
Good looking results.
Thanks.
[thank, you for you're video]👍

Looks good Ron, I use chalk powder to weather my roads.
Great job!:)
enjoyed the video very much.

I haven't quite figure out how that is going to work yet, bu rest assured it will not stay as it is.
Good show....thanks for sharing....Jack

I used to drive across it twice a day myself. I do have a plan for traffic, but that is yet another video.
Hi Ron, what is the grid size on the cutting mat.. cheers
1/2"
I’m looking to make a four lane bridge. Is it possible to kitbash a four lane overpass (undivided) with a Rix Kit?
Sure, just but join the edges. I would add a little extra styrene in the middle, similar to what I did here, then Jersey barriers down the middle.
Like / Cool demonstration / Gary from Michigan 🚂
Thanks, Gary.
Coming together nicely Ron. One question - one track under the bridge? I thought there were two in the prototype inspiration.
There were, but I'm not modeling the double main here.
The overpasses look great. I was just curious why you didn't scratch build the entire thing? It looks simple enough.

Hi Ron, I was wonder what foam you use? Should I use styrofoam for hills and mountains?
Use extruded foam, not bead board. You will be much happier. You can find it at lumber and building stores.
Very nice
Just need to add a Stobe the Hobo type character underneath the bridge when you're finished.
as long as it is not over troubled waters
Ron have you tried this for highway signs? www.kurumi.com/roads/signmaker/signmaker.html
I have not, but I am looking at it and it looks great. Thanks for the tip.
Started new layout: Pics and more on Railwire BNSF PONDEROSA SUB
I used it on a Rix project on my first N layout in 2008. Might have some pics - Stand by.
