We have panel shows, they are just never as funny because we always make them so formulaic in the US. Like Ridiculousness or and the Marriage Ref. I think Chelsea Handler's show was a bit of both talk-show and panel and gave everyone involved more room to be actually funny.

It's the first time I've seen an American show find the spark of panel shows over here. I like that CBS has seen Dropout's Game Changer/Make Some Noise and said "Yeah we'll take some of that" and found their own blend. I'm keen to see them keep developing the show and help Tomlinson find a niche that really lets her and her guests show their best selves.

I honestly think she(or cbs) needs to cultivate a wide range of familiars and favorites. Like, if I see Richard Ayowade, Katherine Ryan, Sarah Milligan, or Aisling Bea ( zero ideo on sp.) I know I want to watch the whole thing. If she develops a semi familiar roster (not everytime but enough that I get to know the relationships) and brings in new people occasionally I think it capitalize on the successful set up those BBC4 shows have.

As someone who also had different expectations about the format, I think this could grow on me. The ironic aspect is that the contestants are asked to perform quick witted responses, something Taylor is a master of. Not many comedians can do this well.
